Good to hear you are both home
I have been looking over many cruise websites to see if current isolation policies are explained. Both celebrity and rcl now state that if positive you will be moved to isolation closer to medical facilities. I think but am not sure this is a recent change. As most medical facilities are on lower decks it seems clear current policy will be in non balcony rooms so no prospect of fresh air during isolation .
I certainly will not be cruising so long as they have this policy in place.
happy to take the risk of getting Covid and having to isolate but not if that means being on deck 3 -
Hi david
Only heard of your situation today so sorry you and Steven have got caught by this.
sounds like the staff are doing the best they can for you apart of course from having some fresh air. That is most disappointing and we shall have to reconsider the transpacific we have booked for October. Knowing the risks and having to isolate is one thing but having to do it with only a window view is quite anotherhope you both get released soon and get a chance for a few more worldies before the cruise ends
all our love
david and Carole

I don't agree with any cruise line knowingly waiting until after final payment date to cancel sailings and then not refunding your money.
That’s exactly what celebrity are doing in Australia. They have just cancelled october sailings but are still pretending November will go ahead because final payment isn’t due yet.

thanks for the reply.
our other option is to just get off the ship and have a 'look around town' - is there anything to do in Pago Pago in the way of shopping / markets...etc?
There was a market set up in the port area and we didn’t really look around the town area but there didn’t seem to be much in walking distance

We did this cruise last year and yes they are rickety old buses as that’s all that are available on the island. Didn’t concern us but others were a little worried

We booked the first post revolution cruise to experience the revolution. Prices reflected the refurb. We still have our cruise but of course no new features. these things happen but it would be nice to hear about them from celebrity rather than finding out from other travellers

Have now bid maximum bid twice for upgrade to penthouse suite on two seperate cruises. Neither were accepted. Not surprised as they were likely sold out long ago

We had a similar offer for a 13 night cruise last november
various categories and price brackets most from $2000 (AUD]
each suite had different inclusions. Cheapest was penthouse suite with max bid $700 including all normal suite extras. Bid immediately but of course didn’t get it , very much doubt it was actually available at that price all other suite categories had max bids over $5000
this booking was direct. Have another booked for March via travel agent , will be interested to see if we get a similar offer

Thanks Paul
marvelous read, look forward to vol 2

I’ve found booking direct rather than using a ta gives better result

Can answer a few of your question about Freemantle as we have boarded there.
the train station is pretty basic and don’t believe there is storage but I may be wrong.
right outside the station is a free hoho bus perfect to see all freemantle
train to Perth is about 30 mins tickets cost around a$15 for a day. With a cruise ship arriving there will be info and booths to obtain tickets
taxi freemantle to airport is around a$60
for such an early departure I’d look for hotels near the airport or that offer free shuttles to airport . Airport appartments by aurum have 24 hour free shuttle and are not overly expensive
We stayed in freemantle 2 days before departing and never got to Perth with lots to see and do in freemantle . Recommend the prison is well worth a visit if you like a bit of the history of a town

Nice to have another X ship down under but a pity they weren’t more adventurous with itinieries. Agree a trip out west or round Australia would be most welcome

Oh great another website upgrade that’s stuffed up
Re registered and of course it’s lost my captains club number and cruise history
Don’t know my captains club number it was linked to old account so I never thought to record it
Worst of all current cruise still shows but all perks deleted !!!
Sigh guess I’ll have to waste some time on the phone to get it fixed
Shouldn’t be this hard

You must be using an IPad.
Finally worked out how to use website on an iPad
Log on , went to my reservations then straight to cruise planner (not manage reservation as suggested by website) worked a treat and can now browse and book

Glad to read it's not just me! I tried to check in online for days on my iPad. I called and they told me that their site doesn't like Safari? I was able to do it on my desktop with Explorer. Then I tried to book excursions also on my iPad and it keeps bumping me back to their home page. I'm hoping I can do it on my desk top.
Very frustrating that you can’t do many things on an iPad
I actually find their website quite usable and easily booked excursions and other add ons but only via pc

Seeing whales from the ship is very much pot luck much more likely to see dolphins at some point. We have been lucky enough to see both at various times though whales are usually quite distant. If the season is right very worth doing a tour. Still not guaranteed but if you are lucky enough to see them up close it’s a wonderful sight. We did a swim with whales tour in Tonga and we got within metres of a breaching mother and calf truly unforgettable

I didn’t see the sterling steakhouse on the patters though it still shows in our cruise personalised. Has it been replaced by the crab shack? If so have you tried it?.
Looking forward to getting on as you get off next week. Thanks for the updates

Ok I have a dumb question for any of you who might want to weigh in:
Do the crew have access to foreign currency exchange? I've got a bunch of Indonesian Rupiah left and will probably also end up with a surplus of Malaysian Ringits as well. I was considering including that as part of the extra tips I leave for my cabin steward and other crew.
Good idea or dick move?
Discuss.
We always do that so long as we know the ship is returning to those countries
Have asked crew before and they appreciate it and can find a way to use it

It seems that might be the case as on another post I’ve seen someone claim to have received official confirmation that current policy across the fleet is isolation on deck 3 close to medical. If they are now isolating in original room deck 3 must be full
