If you compare prices, the price per ounce is better with purchasing the big 8 packs of water. I usually get a couple of those, and bring my own sipper-water bottle to put the water in for convenience.

I appreciate this topic. I'm cruising on the Legend in November and hope to do some of the things that are listed. One I want to do for sure is the water slide. I've never done one and I'm 58 years old. Should be fun!

I agree with those who are saying to contact the Special Needs department of the cruise line. I travel with my Mother who has Parkinson's Disease. I would suggest renting a mobility scooter - we rented one through Special Needs at Sea. It gave my Mom so much freedom, it was great to see the great big smile on her face. If you do this, you will probably need to get a cabin that can accommodate the scooter. Your Mom will be able to get around so much better and she will love it.
We have bought a folding travel scooter, the Transformer folding scooter. It's been a God send. It's only about 55 lbs, the battery lasts all day, she can ride it right up to the door of an airplane, fold it up, and they put it in the hold (we carry the battery on with us). Then it's there for her when we get off the plane.
Have a great trip!

Best Guides offer Early Bird discount and multi-port discounts.
Has anyone booked with Best Guides in any port other than St. Petersburg?
-
I have jut booked tour of Tallinn and Helsinki with Best Guides. We decided for the group tours. For Tallinn we chose the tour with Old City, Kadriorg and Pirita. The price is very reasonable.
Maddo - when are you going?

Thank you all, I've booked with Best Guides for St. Petersburg and am considering them for a couple of the other stops.
-
I have the same question. I hope someone will be able to answer and let us know if they have used them in the other ports.

I will bring this up to her. She can't handle lifting it herself but as much as she has spent renting in various places it may be time to buy 1. I wonder how much extra it costs to fly with it?
From what I unserstand, it doesn't cost anything to fly with a scooter, ADA rules. I don't know first hand, but this is what I have been told. We just got my Mom a Transformer scooter that folds manually or with a remote that comes with it.

My last cruise, I won enough that I left the cruise with more than I had when I went on it. I considered that a win, seeing how I was in the casino pretty much every day.

Lovetotrrravel: I agree, the prices do seem reasonable. I am looking at possibly using them at all of the other stops. My mom had mobility issues, and they are going to work with her in St. Petersburg. Hopefully they can do the same at the other stops. She is going to have a compact, travel mobility scooter that should make gong on tours easier for her.

Hello, I am considering using Best Guides for our stop in St. Petersburg on our August cruise. I see that they also offer tours at the other Baltic Sea Stops we have.
Has anyone used their services at any stop other than St. Petersburg?
thank you.

Our second day trip out was a city bus tour then three hours to do what we wanted.
We spent the time on Nevsky Prospect, looking in the shops, buying a few things, went into one of the many Catherdrals then wandered along the canal back to the bus.
It was a short time, but it was nice to do what we wanted.
Juggler - what tour group did you go with?
Anyone - My Mom is limited on how much she can walk and we are discussing taking a portable scooter for her. Will she be able to do any of the tours with that. It will be one that folds up.

I also have a Dec 2-9 Harmony cruise planned that was originally scheduled to go to St Maarten and San Juan. In March I am supposed to go to the same two ports on the Seaside. Since both may be off the table, I am going in to the trips with no expectations on ports. Im sailing for the ships. If the ships stop somewhere I like, we'll get off. if the ships run humanitarian stops I will bring items to help those locations. If the shops stop at places I have no desire to go to, I'll stay onboard and enjoy the ship. it is what it is.
Ask yourself. Am I going for the ports or am I going for the ship/ change from the everyday?
Ports are getting knocked our right and left this season with not much left to choose from. I think we all need to take a step back and look at the big picture. All of us are privileged to be going on cruises. Even if we took years to save up for them. the people on these islands dont have that luxury.
I completely agree with you Sunkissed. I am on the Carnival Magic Nov 2 - 11. I have not made any plans for any of the port stops, which is probably a good thing now. I go to enjoy the cruise and just get away from home and the job. It will be a great trip no matter where we end up.

God Bless your husband and all of the First Responders.

Thanks Bruce, I actually did that after I had created this post and then did not know how to delete it, once I found the answer.

Hello, Is there a time of year when you might see the Northern Lights while on an Alaska Cruise?
thanks, JoAnn

I am in 1207 on the Valor (Carnival) on May 30. I appreciate the photos of rooms with portholes so I will have some idea as to what to expect. This is my frst solo cruise. I have met some people via the roll call, so it should be a lot of fun.

My Mom and I are on the Odyssey in May and have booked an apartment in Rome for 4 nights via VRBO. It's close to Vatican City and close to a metro station.
