From Port everglades Facebook page:
Port Everglades
15 mins ·
Port Everglades is currently closed to all inbound traffic due to the developing situation at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.

I guess we were just unlucky with timing as we flew out to for our cruise the day of the coup. While are replacement stop in Sarande Albania was not what I hoped for its great ships are retiring to kusadasi. I booked through Ephesus shuttle and they cancelled the excursion for me after they heard of the diversion.

Message from HAL:
"After a thorough review in light of the recent tragic attack at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, Holland America Line has decided to cancel our port call in Istanbul on this sailing. In order to accommodate this change we will also cancel our call to Mytilene, Nisos Lesbos, Greece. However, we are pleased to add new calls to three charming ports in Greece.

Quick question, would anyone know if the pool water on the Eurodam contains chlorine or is salt water.

Ok, I knew he was asking about Marco Polo airport. I've never been to Europe so I am just talking about experiences in other places. My flight did have a connection in the US.
-
That was on United. Since my passport information was already submitted online prior to online checkin and verified, there was no need to have it submitted at the airport. If you don't submit you passport information in advance l, you will have to have it verified at the airport. It may be different departing Italy though.
-
In my experience I been able to get my boarding pass and check-in for an international flight as long as I have submitted my API(advance passport information) prior with the airline. This worked when I flew from Guatemala to Vancouver this past March, I was able to go straight to bag drop.
-
I also stayed at the Hyatt place, it is decent for a few nights stay. They have free breakfast and lots to do in the area. We arrived 2 days early and rented from National. When we dropped the car off National has a free shuttle to Port Everglades.

The stingray excursion was great for the family and it was an amazing experience. In my opinion the stingrays were kinda freaky though but it was cool to see them.

There is an IOS app called ship finder, it costs money but I like it a lot. I think it is around $4

Have any of you been on a hoho bus tour in Istanbul and/or Athens. One member of our group is about 4 months into recovering from a broken leg and may not want to walk long distances in the hot heat. I was wondering if you have any advice on this or some other way to see the city with not a lot of extensive walking. I am also wondering if a hoho bus is the best way to see the city.
Thanks

Google Ernestos Rental. Their jeeps were crap but they drove fine and were relatively cheap. Also I think they only have standards.
-
Nothing you want to see is near the airport. On expedia the area you want to stay in is called "Downtown Vancouver". Anywhere you choose in that area should be a very quick cab ride to the cruise terminal.
-
The actual downtown core of Vancouver is relatively small. The cruise port is located in the downtown core at Canada place. After looking on expedia the prices for a hotel downtown that i am familiar with is around $300CAD. You can check out the Sandman Suites on Davie which is $194CAD. It is a 10 minute cab ride to the cruise port and 7 minute cab ride to Pacific Centre mall near Robson where lots of restaurants are located.

What are exactly are your dates and price range?

Istanbul was one of the main reasons we booked this cruise in July. I do hope we find out soon though if HAL will continue to Istanbul. I wonder in Kusadasi will be cancelled if Istanbul is as I have an Ephesus excursion booked and I am really excited about it.
-
I am on the same cruise also. The ship arrives at 7am so I am wondering what time you can get off the ship since there is no clearing customs. I don't know weather to book the 10:20am train or the 11:20am train.
-
Yes, I was looking on the trenitala website. I will probably just pay the extra 10 euro pp for the changeable ticket. Thanks for your quick reply.
-
We arrive at 7AM so would I be safe if i booked the 10:25 AM train on a no change fare. Difference is 40 Euro between the changeable fare.

Here is a link on all the recent cancellations. Although I would be very disappointed if Istanbul was cancelled, I understand their security concerns. I haven't been outside North/South America so I am excited to go to any port in the Mediterranean. Any decision made by HAL would be the one taking into account our personal safety.
-
Thanks for all your help. I will probably rent from Avis. I like to have the freedom of doing things on my time while in port. Is it necessary to obtain an international drivers permit? I currently hold a Canadian drivers license so not sure if I need it or not in Greece.
-
Would anybody know what would be the best time to catch a train to Rome. Our ship arrives at 7am. Would I be better just buying the tickets at the station? It is going to be July 29 so it might be busy.

We were on the the Celebrity Silhouette last march and had the opportunity docking next to the Constellation that was on a 5-day cruise. All I can say is WOW! I have vivid memories of tons of drunk college kids swearing. What I remember most is this girl showing everybody where she got her new tattoo!I would suggest going on a 7-day as they tend to be more families.
