  1. NCL say it's not so. We can't bring water on board. Must be honest. This is the most ridiculous penny pinching, nickel and dimming move NCL could have done. The package cruise and stay vacation we book means we have no choice but to sail on the NCL Pearl. This will be my one and only NCL cruise. I'm taking my business back to HAL where you are treated like a value guest. I can order room service for free and bring on all the water, juice, canned pop I like. Oh and did I forget to mention HAL will also let me bring on one bottle of wine, FOR FREE

Way to kick the little guy NCL[emoji35][emoji107]🏼

Only one bottle of wine? When we were on HAL in 2012 you could bring as many as you wanted. DH and I each had two six bottle carriers...24 bottles for a 22 night Panama Canal transit. Had many people at check in asking what cabin we were in....

  2. We were waiting and waiting and waiting to disembark in Costa Rica. The Costa Ricans put up the first gang plank....nearly vertical. Captain said, "uh uh, no way!" and the ship's crew put up a different one. Finally got almost to the nice little man who scans your card...just one person in front of us. This person was an elderly man whose card wouldn't scan and you would have thought it was the end of the world. He went on and on and on. "Are you people total idiots? Do you want my cat's id too? You're making all these people wait. Yada, yada, yada." So he finally totters through with his walker, going v-e-r-y slowly. As we followed him, v-e-r-y slowly down the plank I quietly asked my husband if I could give him a little shove. Just a little one? Please? Luckily my husband has much more compassion than I do, so I managed to avoid a jail sentence!

  3. We sailed on Holland America through the canal for 22 nights and I thought the vegetarian options were awesome! I don't remember them repeating anything...but that could just be my "selective" memory. I didn't have to order the night before like one previous poster did. There was one eggplant dish that I absolutely loved---and I don't like eggplant!

  4. Breathless is a new, adults only resort on the marina that offers day passes.

You might also try the Tesoro, they used to offer day passes, not sure what they are doing now.

Both are on the marina. Breathless is on the far side of the marina, a bit of a hike, but you could take a taxi if you're not into walking, especially since September is the hottest month of the year.

Thanks for the quick reply.....this website is AWESOME!!!!

  5. Hello -

We are traveling to the Mexican Rivera in April with our 2 young kids 5 and 7. We are thinking about getting off the ship in Cabo San Lucas to check things out maybe get a bite to eat and then head back to the ship. My husband and I have been to Cabo years ago w/o kids, but how safe is it now and especially with 2 small children. Should I be concerned or am I just being a little too nervous.

    Thanks!

As long as you're not there at night (which shouldn't be an issue on a cruise) you should be fine. A couple from a town in our area was just attacked at 12:15 a.m. while walking back to their condo. A car pulled up, asked them where they were going.....it's a long story, but the husband ended up being dragged down the street as they held on to his arm while they drove away. He was severely injured and will be in the hospital in San Diego for who knows how long. I don't know if he was "part of the problem", but it's pretty scary in any case.

  6. My husband and I were on a Cunard cruise in 1981. I was not feeling very good that morning....ship steward: "Lady sick?" Me: "yes". Steward: "Here, take this pill". Big mistake....made me feel like a walking zombie. Went on a tour of the bridge; afterwards it took me a LONG time to find my cabin again. Laid down to sleep for awhile and was woken by an announcement that President Reagan had been shot. Took me several minutes to realize that it was real and not some weird, drug induced dream.

  7. Last year on the Dawn we dropped our carry on luggage at( ? suggested place) and then went to main dinning room for lunch; when we finished we went to gather our lugguage and ( Blank) could not remember where the location was; A sweet young lady must have seen us looking confused as she asked if we had a problem: she knew just where our lugguage was and walked with us to the area: not leaving us until we had our carryons in hand: As she was departing she said.. "and i will see you in the casino later: " Sure enough, after seeing the show, i went down to check out the casino and she spoke to me usiong my first name: needless to say.. when it came to filling out the cards for service beyond the call of duty.. we greatly praised our young lady and told them how much we appreciated her remembering my name too: ( We are an older couple... little things do mean alot) :)

I know what you mean about little things meaning a lot. My husband loves the casinos and I HATE them, so I am never to be found in one. We were on an HAL cruise to Mexico about ten years ago and I was wandering through the dreaded casino looking for said husband. All of a sudden a cute little dealer says, "Hello Mrs. Keem! Mr. Steeeeve just left!" I'll never know how the heck she knew my name or what I looked like. But she was very special to me after that....I loved walking through there hearing the "hello Mrs. Keem!"

  8. We ate at the Pinnacle Grill on the Statendam a few years ago for their "Indian Night". (Had to beg my DH to go...I like Indian food, him not so much) The dinner was wonderful, but the desserts....ick, yuck, gross, blah! Even the head waiter agreed they're not his favorite.

  9. On a RCCL cruise to Alaska, Jim Nabors was onboard as one night's entertainment. I was jogging the next morning and was startled to hear "Gomer's" voice asking one of the attendants a question. Later that night my husband I were having a cocktail when he excused himself to use the facilities. He didn't come back, and didn't come back, and didn't come back. When he finally showed up he said he had run into Mr. Nabor's outside the men's room and they had a very pleasant conversation. My reply was 1) Did you prevent him from any necessary duties? and 2) Why didn't you invite him to have a drink with us!!!!

  10. Absolutely charming and Gorgeous Greek waiters....

    oh wait, i'm married now....

Ordering Room Service late at night and having it delivered to the pool

I just stumbled across this thread and boy does this bring back a happy memory! My very first cruise was in Greece with my parents when I was 22. "Nick", our Greek waiter, was SOOOOO charming...he called me Sophia Loren all week. Talk about knowing how to make a 22 year old girl giddy! :)
