Has anyone got any idea what is happening with the Joy in February 2025?

I had booked a cruise with the kiddos for March Break 2025 on the Escape and about three weeks later got a cancellation notification.... so I turned around and booked the Joy for the same week - March 8, 2025 on the Joy. When I was looking at the NCL website just now,  I see that my week has disappeared from the site and it looks like it is also not bookable for February either.

I know the ship is due to get a massive overhaul in 2024 so could it be taken out of service for a technical overhaul for 5 weeks in March 2025 or is NCL just messing with the deployment/schedule?

I know that we are supposed to be on a Charter 3/10-3/15 in 2025 on the Joy.  Not sure about February, but that could affect the one you mentioned on 3/8. Monsters of Rock Cruise 🙂

  2. I am booked for a theme cruise on Feb 9 2022, and have been told by the organizers that the planned Labadee stop would be changed, but they are not sure to what as of yet.  I am ok with the change, but hoping that it is to another port and that another day at sea is not put in it's place.  Our cruise is a music one, and we have a lot of rockers, not sure if some of the ports will have issues with us- lol

  3. We have a charter cruise booked on Navigator of the Seas on 2/11. We have already been informed that due to unrest in Jamaica, we will not be going there. They added the Coco Cay island instead. Not sure if this was Royal Caribbean that changed it or if it was the company that we have the charter through.

  4. We are leaving on Feb 11th on a charter cruise on Navigator of the Seas. We were supposed to go to Falmouth, but were notified on Friday that due to the unrest there, we will be going to Coco Cay instead. I am not sure if it was the cruise line or the people running the charter that made this decision. I'm a little bummed out, because I have never been to Jamaica and was looking forward to it.

  5. I will be going on a cruise and have something important that I need to do on the internet on a day we are at sea. My question is: Should I use the internet cafe or Wifi? Are they equally reliable or is the cafe more reliable? How much is using a computer in the internet cafe? Thanks! We will be on Navigator of The Seas.

  6. I first used one when I went on the Def Leppard cruise- we HAD to have them on to attend any of the functions that were for the Def Leppard group only, as the cruise was only 1/2 chartered. Anyway- I found that it was so much easier than having to carry a purse with me everywhere that I have used it on the cruises I have gone on since. I do tuck it in mostly, but really- we are on vacation, so who cares if you look like a tourist, YOU ARE ONE! lol

  7. Sometimes it's diffcult to remember which read you post on, the question was answered on the other thread.

Also, a great feature of this site is that it can be searched. You can look for common topics, like "sparkling wine" and see if the question was already answered elsewhere

Thank you! That was much more helpful. I never thought to search the subject. I had asked the question on another thread, but had not received a response when I posted here, but did get the answer that was looking for there. I appreciate your help :)

  8. Auntiesasa do you have trouble reading what you quote. You have been told that you can bring wine so why ask if you can bring wine?

WOW- That was rude! I was asking to see if there was an issue with champagne/sparkling wine since it is under pressure, not like regular wine.

  9. In January I took the shuttle bus to the airport and rented a car for the day. Put all of the luggage in the trunk and drove to the beach. Walked up and down, stopped for a frozen cocktail or two and drove around a bit more. Went out for dinner then returned the car at the airport and headed in for the flight.

It was a beautiful day and my fiance actually got to stick his feet in the ocean for the first time ever (Our cruise was during a storm and we were unable to get off the ship throughout the cruise).

Hollywood, FL also has a beautiful beach with a boardwalk you can walk on too. It is just south of Ft. Lauderdale beach. Also, the drive North on A1A that goes along the ocean is a beautiful one.

  10. My ex has medical issues that prevent him from standing or walking for long periods. He rented a walker witha seat that he could kind of lean on when he needed to for long stretches and left it in the cabin the rest of the time. Came in handy for ports and for embarkation and debarking the ship. It did nto limit his mobility, rather allowed him to get around a little further than he would have otherwise. It was cheap to rent to boot. Might be an option for when you are boarding, if no other time.

  11. I used to hate cruising (or traveling anywhere for that matter) with my ex-husband. He was a bore. My new man however, is fun no matter where we go or what we do, so cruising with him was a blast!

I also love when the group of Me, my parents, sisters, their spouses and kids all cruise together. We always have someone to do things with when others may not be interested. Always meeting up for dinner and doing at least 1 excursion as a group.

I have never done a solo cruise(although the ones with the ex felt like it! lol) but I do not think I would be one to do that. My co-worker goes on 2-3 solo cruises every year and LOVES them. (She is on Azamara Journey as we speak) To each their own!

  12. My check in at Port of Miami - I arrived at the port around 1:00 and was not on board until almost 3:00. Very long slow process that day.

Main DR was decent. Service a little slow, smaller portions but everything was good. Buffet on our cruise was not good. (I understand this is not always the case). Mostly pizza, burgers and hotdogs. I did not dine in any specialty restaurant. Room service choices did not appeal to me.

The cruise I was on was 1/2 charter, but I did not see much in regard to activities the ship had for the other passengers. If the weather was better there would have probably been more things around the pool, but it was cold and rainy so they were probably indoors somewhere that I did not see.

We had no formal night on our 4 night cruise at all. They did have theme nights of "White", "Italian" and "70s & 80's".

  13. Will MSC tell you if it is chartered, because the line I was on would not tell us. How does one find out if it is a charter???

    Thanks

From what I understand, the folks on our cruise were not told by MSC that it was a charter. Many stated that even their travel agents were not aware of this. Some knew from the CC roll call.

  14. I'm sailing Millie on the "Short Alaska Cruise" that goes out in May 2017. I have been on the Solstice before as well as a few other cruise lines. I am looking forward to seeing the difference in this ship. I am not worried so much about the cosmetic stuff, but I hope that the service was 1/2 as good as I experienced on the Solstice. Never have I ever been treated so well.

I am looking forward to the views, the food, the drinks and all of the new people that we will call friends during our cruise.:)

  15. I would recommend doing your research. Make sure that the cruise you are looking to book is not partially booked by a large group. I went on Divina earlier this year and 1/2 the ship was a charter. This greatly effected the drink packages (all-inclusive alcohol package became unavailable to purchase by 3pm), the food quality, service and the overall happiness of a lot of people on board.

One example: on a 4 nighter, the first day the entire buffet was open with lots of great choices- made everyone excited with anticipation of the culinary goodies we had to look forward to. After the first day, only a small portion of the buffet was open serving very basic foods (pizza, burgers, hotdogs, fruit)- nothing like we saw on the first day.

I am convinced this was due to the 1/2 chartered ship.

The ship was stunning though. Just do your research to be sure that you are on a non-chartered cruise (unless that is the reason you are going- lol) so that you will not have a cruise that is sub par.
