Thanks Keith1010 for the pictures of Dutch Harbor. We are flying out there in May so it's good to see pictures from someone who has been there. We are really looking forward to it. We will be renting a car to see the place.

I agree with the above posters about the connoisseur tours. We have done both and the connoisseur was by far the best. You are well taken care of and the rooms and food are first rate.

We were in Fairbanks recently and ate at the Cookie Jar a couple of times. Thought it was very good.

We did that tour two years ago. The bus rides were not as bad as they sound. Both lodges were excellent and we took excursions from both of them. From Copper River we did an excursion to Valdez which turned out to be one of the better ones we have done. Lots of whales and wildlife.

Actually, we have seasons in Texas: summer and January!

We are booked on the Coral Princess in Cabin A429, the forward cabin on the bump out on Aloha deck. We were wondering if there is a wall or wind screen on the forward part of the balcony? Also, is the balcony covered? Hopefully someone who has stayed in this cabin can help us out. Thank you.

I also can recommend the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour if only to see the bald eagles at Annette Island. Amazing.

Thanks to everybody that replied to my question. I will look around and see what kind of deals I can find. Wish I could talk to some of you and get some names and numbers. Happy sailing!

I know we can't mention names of travel agents on here. I have never booked a cruise with a travel agent and just have a question: do you use a local agent in your area that you can walk in and talk to face to face or one who may be 1000 miles away and the only contact is by phone? Just hope someone can give advice without breaking the rules on this board.

Well, howdy neighbor! :D (We are in Bedford.)
I'm slightly hijacking my own thread to ask how did you find the weather? Temperature wise how does it compare to here (time of year/month is helpful)? We are planning a May trip too. I am also concerned about allergies. Mountain cedar has been a thorn in my side this year, and cottonwood is the bane to my existence. Do I need to pack the entire allergy arsenal?
Good to hear from a fellow Texan. On this trip the weather was great and maybe even a little too warm for Alaska. Several days we checked the weather back home and it was cooler in Keller than it was in Alaska. Our other trips to Alaska were also in May and the weather was very cool but not so cold you couldn't enjoy being outside. I can't speak to the allergies since they don't bother me. Have a good trip!

I would definitely to the connoisseur tour. Did this last May and it was outstanding. The tour guide was there to help every step of the way and the service was wonderful. That's the advice from here in Keller, Texas!

If you like bald eagles you should take the Deadliest Catch tour in Ketchikan. You will see dozens of bald eagles.

Thanks for all your help on this trip. I have emailed Wrangell Mountain Air to see if we can book the trip while at the Princess Copper River Lodge. Sounds like a great excursion.

I have been trying to get the flightseeing adventure from Princess but the first time I looked at it, the tour was listed as sold out and that was the first day it was listed. Now it doesn't even show up on their tour options. Is there a way to book that tour through another company?
September weather

Last September was beautiful except for Ketchican. However, as we all know that doesn't mean a thing for this year!
