  1. Same thing happened to us. We just went at normal time as we had FTTF and figured they were just trying to stagger arrivals (before assigned check in times). Unfortunately the cruise before ours was a special private cruise and it took them FOREVER to get off the boat. We literally sat in there and watched them disembark at a snails pace. Took so long vending machines were totally sold out. Got on around 1. At least we were there early enough to have a seat to wait in...silver lining.

That's horrible, it can happen though.

  2. (y)(y)(y)

Pick up the cartons of milk in the morning. Use ice buckets if your cabin doesn't have a fridge to keep them cold. (the cabin steward can supply that) If you don't want to have to find the cookies, I would suggest bringing your favorites on board on embarkation day. Calling room service for just cookies would be a waste of time (in my view).

You have a lot of suggestions. Easiest would be a DIY option.

  3. First cruise any ship will be great, and you can decide if cruising is for you. If it is, I bet it is, then you could try the other ship. I prefer the smaller ships, but opinions vary. Do what you are comfortable with financially and consider too the location of the port to where you are.

Either way, you will not go wrong with either of those ships. Either of them will leave you wanting more!

  4. I was on 10/8 sailing with 11am check in & got email saying to come an hour later. We ignored the email and got there about 10:55am. We were let right into terminal and only waited about 40mins to board

They probably put you in the early/late row.

The reason this delay is done is that check in is so fast now with keys onboard that the upstairs part of the terminal fills up before they are ready to begin boarding. They only delay the before noon check ins,and they only do it on the breeze. Usually there are about 4800 passengers going on which means around 4800 getting off, which takes a little longer.

Fyi, noon is the worst time to come, that's when the delayed meets the non=delayed, meaning the original 1100 check ins that were delayed an hour arrive at the noon time that were not told to come in an hour later.

Just relax, you will get on the ship and have fun. If you come at 230, there will be no line........

  5. Do your time dining so your dinner doesn't conflict with something you might want to do, like a sunset, a welcome aboard show, a sail away party, etc...

Do the rock the promenade, the music trivias, they are fun. Love and marriage is hilarious. Quiet spots are on serenity, deck 3 outside the dining room, deck 10 walking from front to back, and you will find others.

Freedom is a great ship, I've spent many days on her. Also, I know the check in process in galveston very well, if you have questions just ask!

    Have fun!
