  1. Missing the ship is my worst nightmare so we always stay in Southampton the night before the cruise and we always get back on board no later than an hour before the "back on board time" . Last year my cruise with Royal Caribbean ended abruptly on day 2 when I was winched off the ship with my critically ill father and dumped in Lisbon by the Portgugese Airforce . I digress slightly BUT I learned a valuable lesson that you must ALWAYS carry your passport and the ships port agent contact details when you go off board in a port

  2. On 3rd September the worst happened when my father was taken seriously ill and airlifted from a cruise ship to Lisbon where he is in ICU .

he is fully covered on his insurance but was taken to a public hospital.

I'm not going to slag any specific hospital (am leaving The Mail On Line and Social media to do that. But in short we have been pretty much denied access to my father and information about his condition has been withheld. The insurers are ready to medivac my dad back to the UK but the hospital aren't communicating with them. Apparently this is the norm for a Portuguese public hospital.

I'd urge people going ashore in Portugal to take great care to avoid accident or injury . You don't want to experience the health service.

I'll still cruise but will not get off the ship in a Portuguese Port ever again

  3. Yes, just like the US Coast Guard films their rescues. Prayers to the family and thanks for the video, that's terrifying. Nobody has posted about it yet on the roll call, I'm sure they will when you get back.

It was totally insane especially as I'm terrified of flying which is why we cruise . I didn't realise there is no Helipad on Anthem. Glad I didn't know this until a few minutes before I was winched up

  4. Yesterday on day 2 of our cruise the worst thing happened and my father became critically I'll and as we were at sea we were airlifted to Lisbon. I have a fear of flying so being winched off was very traumatic. There were loads of passengers taking photos. If anyone has any I would really like to see some . It may sound strange / morbid but I'd like to . If anyone has any please contact me , thanks

My dad is stable in ICU ,;we are all hoping he'll recover . Royal Caribbean staff have been amazing x

  5. After spending approximately 6 hours over a few days trying to book dining options for myself , husband and my parents it's taken a 49 minute call to Royal Caribbean to get it sorted . The problems on line were trying to book using 2 different booking reference numbers , the site constantly crashing , being told I don't need to input my credit card details because I'd booked complimentary restaurants then on the next page getting "credit card details incorrect" .

Think I've sorted in now but had a battle to get the 4 of us dining together . Am extremely frustrated and unhappy
