  1. I'm getting a divorce.

    I'm changing my name.

    I'm (possibly) booking a cruise.

Not necessarily all in this order!

So, the divorce is almost final, I'm going to get my name changed in November and immediately get a new passport. I'm looking at maybe booking a cruise this week for a 2/4/2017 sailing on Royal Caribbean.

I'm assuming I'll have to fill out the online form with my current name?

What hoops might I have to jump through to get it changed before the cruise?

Any other tips you might have would all be wonderful!

  2. We enjoyed the warm chocolate chip cookies that were served in the Lido every afternoon. A couple of warm cookies and a scoop of ice cream and you are set.

We found they kept the desserts left over from lunch out almost all afternoon for snacking at the Lido. They kept them cool, don't worry, but it was quite nice. :p

  3. Just got off the Maasdam a couple weeks ago, and I've got a few for you. THis was our first ever cruise.

    1) One of the couples at our table was well into their 80s and on their 59th wedding anniversary. The only thing I could think of when I met them was the story on this list about the 90 year old couple in the Not So Newlywed game and I kept thinking to myself that I needed to stay away from the Lido deck late at night. Heh.

    2) Took a walking tour to the Emerald Pool in Dominica. Our guide, a nice twentysomething man, would stop at plants and trees to tell us what the Carib indians used them for (his heritage). He stopped at one tree and explained that it was an aphrodisiac and that men chewed the bark. He very happily and excitedly told our group, comprised of both major genders and all ages, (direct quote) "It makes your p**** stand STRAIGHT UP!" And he happily walked off.

    3) The band in one of the bars is Filipino and has a slight accent. They are very good, don't get me wrong, but some words come out....differently. So, they are playing Beach Boys "Surfin' USA" and we get to the part about Bushy Bushy Blonde Hairdo...but the 'B' sounds like a 'P' and the 'sh' doesn't sound like an 'sh' at all. Conversations stopped briefly as we all silently (or not so silently) wondered 'Did I just hear what I think I heard?'

All in all, a great trip. :)

  4. Sorry he didn't win, but I'm very happy for Chloe. I'm planning on stopping by her boutique next week and seeing what her new stuff looks like since they just re-opened

Please come back and let us all know about Chloe's shop, I'm sure we're all curious.

I agree, I liked Nick and his designs a lot, I'm glad he's getting some work from this.

Has anyone heard what Austin Scarlett is up to now?

  5. I didn't catch last night's episode, but did go over to the website and took a look at everything, and read Tim's Take. I was surprised: I really liked all Daniel's stuff throughout the series, but like his final collection the least. On the pictures of the models you could tell some of that stuff just didn't fit.

Chloe was a big surprise to me: I can't remember a single design from the other episodes, but I liked her collection most of all.

  6. Oh, another one for Alaska cruisers is Icy Clutches by Aaron Elkins. He also has one set in Tahiti called Twenty Blue Devils. They are mysteries, good fun. The main character is a forensic anthropologist, but the books aren't gorey. Highly recommend any of his books (has another set in Egypt).

  7. MrsRed - I too love Tim Gunn, I always enjoy the comments and direction he gives to the designers.

I love project runway, too, but usually only get to see reruns or check their website. Tim Gunn has a weblog on bravotv.com that is wonderful to read. He disects every design in every episode. Highly recommend it, if you haven't checked it out already. :D
