  1. Hi.  I have scoured the messages and do not see my specific question answered.

We typically turn our phones off while cruising, but this time we are traveling in a group of 10 and I can see we will have a need to get in touch with others in our group.  Most have iPhones but there are some with Android (if that matters).

If we upgrade to the unlimited wifi package, will everyone be able to send text messages or call over the wifi?

Or, what is the best way for us to stay in touch while on the ship?

  2. We have cruised out of New Orleans twice on Carnival. We like to park at the terminal for the convenience but we are only familiar with the Erato St Terminal Parking garage. We will be cruising on NCL in April. It appears Julia St Parking is just a parking lot. Since this parking lot is shared by RCI and NCL, does this parking lot get full? We like to arrive to the port around 10:30 or 11:00, do you think we should come up with an alternate parking area if this one is full or should we easily find a spot?

  3. We are getting ready to book our first Norwegian cruise on the Getawayfor April 2020. We've sailed Carnival and Royal Caribbean in the past. We book balcony rooms, mid ship. On the Getaway, which deck do you recommend for quiet? I will take any other tips or tricks that I should know about Norwegian.

  4. We were there in January and had no issues. They had the departure times posted for all the ships in port at the bar. They came and asked how soon we wanted to be back to the port, then came and told us about 15 min before the taxi arrived so we had time to gather our things and use the restroom. We were actually the last guests to leave that day and had no issues getting back in time.

One thing to keep in mind is the time to walk from the taxi drop-off area at the port to your ship. They drop you off closer than where you catch the taxi to the resort, but it is still a 10-12 min walk back to the ship, depending on which berth your ship uses. If you want to do any shopping in the port area, just factor that in to leaving Maya Chan a little earlier.

  5. We are booked at Maya Chan next month. I'm very excited but a little nervous since it is not a ship sponsored excursion. Has anyone heard of any issues about getting back to the ship on time from Maya Chan?
