  1. I am cruising with husband and mother. cant wait. My mother does not like to do much with us and was wondering is there any single groups that meet while cruising? She is very friendly and never meets a stranger. I told her I would ask for her. See yall all soon. Just looking for suggestions for her.

  2. Elation is going through dry-dock right now, so both will be practically the same. Just pick which port is better for you to drive to. The Victory is old just like the Elation and the Ecstasy. I think the Fantasy Class is just fine and the boats actually have more features than the Victory at this point.

If you're afraid of having a bad experience, I suggest looking at Royal's options from Tampa/New Orleans for a short cruise. We would take the Brilliance of the Seas hands down over any of the Fantasy Class.

Do you know if they are adding anything on the Elation while in drydock?

  3. Why don't you and your husband pay the difference as a gift? Or find a relative who can cruise with her.

I think that is what we are going to do. I told him to split it 3 ways and we each will pay the same. She doesn't drink, so that would be on him (as I don't drink enough to buy the endless alcohol).

thanks for the responses. I do like the discounted cards too. I think I will go that route as well.

  4. yes. We went to the shows and didn't buy drinks. The aft bar is right by the pools and we were always there at the table by the windows. Sometimes we had a drink sometimes we didn't. As far as I remember, we were not forced to buy, but didn't take much to get me to do it. I bought a few drinks here and there. My mom only drank diet coke. Have a blast. I loved it. It was my first cruise too. Im so ready to go back. Can't waiut until we can do it again.

  5. I used cash on my cruise. I heard stories about holds on your debit card up to 2 weeks after the cruise. It was easy. When our cruise was finished we went to guest services and they refunded what money was not used. I have heard people using the carnival cards as well. I use cash on the islands as well. I didn't want any problems over there. I didn't spend much there anyway.

  6. Ok I have a question and I'm sure this forum is the perfect place to ask it. My wife and I just got back from the victory 4 day Bahamas cruise. It was our fourth year in a row for cruising. Now we are back to work, home, kids, and all the other real world stuff :-( so how do you guys deal with the post cruise blues? We book our trip and look forward to it for so long, then it seems to go by so fast. Now all we have is some great pictures to remind us....until next year hopefully. I know some of you cruise a lot, so what's the remedy for us?? Thanks

YESSS. Thus us so what I am going through. Thus was my first cruise. I am so hooked now. I dream of cruising. Seriously 3-4 times this week I dreamed of a cruise. I have a friend that goes 3-4 times a year, now I know why. You are so relaxed and can do just as you want, No worries.

  7. I just got back from Carnival Victory. My mom (a non drinker) put 300.00 and had 150 left. I am a seldom drinker (I had about 2 a day) and I put on 300 and came back with 75.00 (I purchased a few gifts on board). My daughter 18 is a spender and had 550.00 (she did not purchase the unlimited coke drinks like I told her to and spent some on that, bought a lot of pictures and frames. It depends on how you are going to spend money. You get back what you don't spend though. Remember they add gratuity in as its automatically added. My cruise was 4 days.

  8. I just got off the Victory and I loved Loved Loved it. Now this was my first cruise and I have nothing to compare it to. You need to know that there are over 2000 people on the ship and there may be lines, but they move pretty fast. The staff were awesome. I never had a hard time getting drinks. I did not buy the drink package because I felt I would spend less on drinks than the package. I found nothing to complain about (other than rude passengers at times LOL). The only thing I didn't like was Freeport, but that's my fault, I should have booked some type of excursion or been more informed about the island. It was not a waste of money and I'm ready to go back now. Enjoy.

  9. Thanks yall. I think nerves are getting best of me. We have a graduation in 2 days and a lot of road travel before, after and between before the cruise. I may end up finding a lounge chair and sleep the entire time. Crazy week we picked for a cruise. But we are so excited and cant wait. Its a graduation celebration for my daughter and her boyfriend. Thanks for making me feel better.

  10. that's what I told my daughter. I told her we are on a cruise and not at work or school Make the best of it. Just nervous about the roughness of seas in the weather too. Guess stock up on Dramamine and have a great time.

  11. First time cruiser here. We all leave on May 29-June 2 on Victory. Weather looks bad. What should we expect looking at the thunderstorms and all. Looks like the whole time we are there. I'm new to this.

  12. I always think how I would feel if the shoe is on the other foot. No I would not keep it. They are on their cruise like I am and want to enjoy it like we would. There are clothes and possibly medicine in that luggage. Turn it in to guest services. The way I look at it, I did the right thing by turning into the right people. Now the ball is on their court to do the right thing. do unto others as you would want them to do unto you
