  1. I love, love formal night!  Even when I cruise solo I wear a formal gown!!  It makes me feel like a princess, well. . .almost!  I also love to shop for bargains.  It always feels like such a conquest when I find a really good buy - like a stunning formal gown that was probably only worn once for $25!  Needless to say, I have a few.  This year alone I have purchased five "new" gowns!  Every time my instinct tells me to go in search of one I go and there will be one better than the last one in just my size!!  With only 90 days till my next cruise I think I'll stop buying now and start packing!!  This is my favorite gown from my last cruise.

  2. if it's booked under early saver they consider that a cancellation by one person , even though there is no one named specifically yet. Then on top of everything that's not refundable under early saver, they also charge you a penalty/rebooking fee to add the new person. I just had to call and ask about the exact same thing because I also thought by not adding a name when booking i could work around all that. Im not positive but im pretty sure after your final payment is made your really screwed.  Vacation protection is of no benefitbin this case either.

  3. Has anyone done it? What do you need to find? It sounds like a lot of fun from reading Fun Times.

Also does anyone know if you want to purchase a spa pass or anything to use the steam room on the Inspiration?

    Thanks

I participated in one on The Breeze a couple of years ago and it was an absolute blast!! It was my most favorite adult fun time. It is definately not for the shy types or anyone who embarrasses or gets offended easily. All I will say is that I had on a skirt and top when I arrived and left wearing a male teammates clothes - and he wearing mine, bra and all !! Needless to say our team won; but every single person there had the best time. It was so much fun!!

  4. I have only been on 2 cruises but one of them was solo. I am a single, 56 yr young female. I agree with Lois R. . I don't think I could ever share a cabin with someone I didn't know. But, I also agree that this could be, in part, due to an age factor. It's true that we get a bit more set in our ways as we get older. You probably will spend very little time in your cabin but I would be careful to make sure the person is honest and won't use or "borrow" any of your makeup, clothes etc. I would discuss your boundaries on these kinds of things with her.

  5. Hi everyone! My 2nd cruise, and 1st solo cruise, is coming up in about 60 days. While I am absolutely looking forward to the pleasures of cruising solo I do have a couple of concerns about some minor issues. Thanks to this wonderful forum I have found some advice regarding all of my concerns except for one and I would love to read any advice/stories about it.

How do you (especially the ladies) deal with the occasional need of an extra pair of hands to help zip your dress or handle the clasp on a piece of jewelry? I'm especially concerned with the formal night. I have some issues with my hands and sometimes it is really difficult to zip a zipper that is the entire length of my back. And can be especially difficult with certain clasps on certain bracelets.

I'm sure some of you will say not to worry about the jewelry; that it's not that important on a cruise. Or perhaps pick something else to wear. But it is just not "me" to go without my jewelry and I have worked very hard at altering my choices as to what I'm wearing on formal night (usually a friend has to do some of the sewing).

So, do any of you have any suggestions for me? The only idea I have is to possibly tip my room steward to give me a quick zip when I need it, but I don't know if this could be misconstrued as something inappropriate. That would certainly be embarrassing!

  6. My first solo cruise (2nd total cruise) is coming up in May 2016 and the picture issue is one of my top two concerns about cruising alone. I'm not very shy so I have no problem asking other people to snap a pic of me, but my big concern is that I will seem self-absorbed!! I know its silly, really, but usually the more dressed up or better I look the more I'm concerned about what others think. Crazy, I know! My first cruise I was with two family members but was off on my own most of the time. So if I wanted to be in a picture while off on an excursion I had to ask someone to take the pic for me. I'm pretty sure no one judged me for either looking nice or not. In fact, one guy on the ship took a lot of pics of me in various places on the ship (in front of Christmas trees, etc, as this was in Dec.) As a bonus he e-mailed me a copy of all the pics he had taken of just the ship itself, which I was really grateful for since it was my first cruise.
