Captain said we’d be getting a letter later today with more details. I assume they’re also working on an email to the next cruise passengers with options.

email stating we will miss Nassau and continue on to CoCoCa on Tuesday........Just a one day delay.  Already called hotel near airport for the extra night.   See you all 'soon'     Granny Judy

Leaving house now for our air from Pittsburgh to Orlando.

  2. Flying in from Pittsburgh, PA to Orlando this evening (Saturday,9/26) and staying hotel near airport.  At least we will or can hang out at the airport until hearing any other updates. Been in a line of similar instance and waiting for hours in the heat was terrible.  Would rather stay at (MCO) airport and get transport later in the day.  Our boarding time is now 1:00-1:30 but doesn't sound like thats gonna happen.  Ohhhh what a mess this is going to be Sunday.  Will keep watching postings.

Well even if it’s “just” something like a broken hip, I feel for that injured passenger and family. Another reason to purchase the extra medical rider on your travel insurance which covers your return to your hospital of choice vs the nearest appropriate US port. No — I am not an insurance agent.  I was an admissions RN for a well-known rehabilitation hospital in NJ and learned just how much it costs to medical-evacuate someone from a far-away state back to your home. Thousands and thousands.

Interesting reading…..looks like better be prepared. It’s gonna be what it is. Hope it’s not toooooo hot.

  4. Thanks to the last 4 posters..... We have already booked a cruise and have heard both good and bad. We used to go to Las Vegas for New Years Eve, as invited guests at Harrahs; but went to bed as soon as 'our' party was over as it got kinda wild. Then because of health reasons, we stopped going and stayed home with each other and liked that. Friends are going on this particular cruise and we thought it would be nice to join them. BUT after talking with a few people that HAD BEEN ON NEW YEAR's EVE CRUISES....began to rethink!!....:confused: Still have plenty of time to cancel and go later in January. Again thanks for your thoughts. Will continue to keep check on this thread and see other thoughts. Judy

  5. Kilmarlic, Iris......."50th Birthday, just a teenager trapped in an older body".. I thought I was the only one that felt that way; 25 years ago:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Just keep having fun and you will ALWAYS BE A TEENAGER...That's my positive attitude. See you all soon and HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY, just a little early ;) Judy

  6. CoCoCay is missed alot because of weather, wind and ruff seas. It's a chance you take when doing the short cruises to Nassau. Been on several different cruises lines and only one that we will not return to and it was years ago....BUT not going to name and bash. Just love cruising and Royal has always been our favorite....kinda like the middle of the road type....:) Do feel bad for first time cruisers on this past cruise. Hopefully they will read all the positive and leave the negative behind when THEY CRUISE AGAIN!!

  7. Will be on Majesty for 4 days end of February. Will check the life jackets for dates. Never had given it a thought and in recent muster drills, life jackets have not been required.....even held muster drills inside.... I guess I'll be in the habit of check expiration dates on life jackets for awhile;)Recently on Princess cruise and life jackets were required; but didn't have to put on unless wanted to. Saw many just watch and a few did try. AND again, was held in the dining room....some outside.

John&LaLa.....just love your view and your correct about central Florida unless your lania faces golf course, which ours does.:D

  8. Read over all the post and have sailed Majesty of Seas often along with Monarch and Soveriegn; finding the smaller ships quite nice. Altho being from Pennsylvania; we winter in Kissimmee and sailing from Pt Canaveral is very convenient. If we had been on the Majesty this trip; not sure if I wold have stayed on and taken the 25% or left for a full refund. Can't say that there was much missed on a 4 day cruise xcept for the sea day. As far as all the discussions about the older ships being 'OLD', etc....some of the 'not so old' ships on any line have repairs needed. Just think 365 days a year not a day goes by that there is no activity on these ships. AND some passengers could care less as its' 'NOT their home'. The mega ships are beautiful and have lots to offer; but next time on one.....look around!!.....prefer the Freedom Class mysellf....Sadly, took Freedom to Ft Lauderdale(3 hour dive) and will be going to Barcelona(???flying time)

    BTW....John&LaLa......love your 'Office View'..... R U HIRING??

  9. Thanks everyone for all information about DO guarantee balcony. We are booked on 6th deck aft. After looking over deck plans; feel as tho we made good decision. Don't usually do guarantee. Did Anthem November 2015 and really like the ship....junior suite at that time..... decided to save $$ and take chance. 21 more wake ups:). Judy

  10. I have been reading your posts and wanted to let you know I appreciate it! My husband and I will be boarding Anthem in New Jersey in 12 days (God willing). I say that because he is under the weather and one never knows what can happen from now until then.

I am at work and anxiously await your next post. As soon as I see there is a new one I log on to read it. THANK YOU!

Sending 'well wishes' for your husband. THINK POSITIVE!! And agree with you...anxiously await next posts. Judy

  11. Thank you for posting your info, we have been looking at booking a cruise with Dialysis at Sea, as my Daughter requires Hemo-dialysis 3x's weekly. I think it is more comforting to know that this company provides medical staff that is specifically trained in patients on dialysis. She has had a lot of setbacks this past year, and she really would like to do something like this, I think we all need it :)

As of now, we have cruised 3 times with dialysis.....using the 'dialysis at sea' program, machines, doctor, nurses, tech.....and all has been SUCCESSFUL... VERY early in the morning which gives us the rest of the day to do as we wish. On all three cruises, couldn't have asked for friendlier medical staff....Explorer of the Seas, Freedom and Celebrity Silhouette. Next cruise is November on RCI Anthem of the Seas out of Bayonne, NJ. Have even cruised a couple of 3 night out of Pt. Canaveral...doing dialysis on Friday morning, sailing 4PM and returning Monday (we winter in Orlando area) early enough to get back to dialysis for the 11AM session. The staff in the Orlando area accommodate and move the 7AM session to 11AM...so we can do the 3 night. Insurance did cover the cost of one of the cruises; so far, working on the other ones. As posted Medicare pays nothing. Its just too bad the dialysis cruises are so limited. 2016 has nothing out of Pt. Canaveral....have to drive to Ft. Lauderdale. OH WELL. Judy

  12. few years ago, my husband was diagnosed with 'renal failure' and is now on dialysis 3 times a week. Little did we know about the 'dialysis at sea' program until reading on CC. My question is....why don't the three cruise lines that offer; HAL, RCI and Celebrity, let the cruising public know of this. Granted, I know it is expensive; BUT, at least the information would be out there. The cruises which offer this are VERY limited and 2016 there are NO RCI cruises out of Pt. Canaveral....we winter in Orlando area.....have to drive to Ft. Lauderdale. Just asking. Judy

  13. Hello All,

Since today is the last cancelled date without any Princess penalty, we have cancelled the cruise. Princess won't store our medical dialysis solution and won't respond to my repeated emails. It is a big disappointment!

So far for sure I know HAL and Cunard do store the dialysis solution for their guest. If you know for sure which other cruise lines do store the solution for their guest (don't consider the solution as luggage per Princess), please let me know!

    Thanks,

    Grace

Sorry to hear about all the confusion with storage. My husband is on dialysis; go to clinic every other day. When he was diagnosed with renal failure we thought our days of cruising were over. BUT, there is a program that provides dialysis on certain ships. I know you do your own.....I'm just informing. HAL, RCI and Celebrity are the only ones we are aware of and its thru 'dialysis at sea' and fairly expensive...AND VERY LIMITED. BUT, we still try to cruise a couple times a year. God Bless You for taking your parents and providing them with quality and fun life. Judy Shame on Princess

  14. I know I have posted on 3 places; BUT, want those who are on dialysis to have as much information as possible.

I know we were fearful about 'dialysis at sea'...BUT, there was no problem. We will be doing two cruises in March and feel comfortable now that we have 'been there, done that'. Judy

  15. Friends of ours are going on a Royal Caribbean through dialysis at sea. I'm not sure how many cruise lines they work with but sounds like there is no reason you should have to stop cruising. :-)

I know I have posted other places on CC.....BUT, we have done dialysis on cruise ship and NO PROBLEMS. DH, Bob, (after transplant kidney rejected) has been on dialysis for over a year. Check with 'dialysis at sea'....there are 'limited' cruises...but enough to satisfy.

Holland America, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean do dialysis. We have booked two cruises in March....Freedom of the Seas out of Pt. Canaveral and

Celebrity, Silhouette out of Ft. Lauderdale. NOW....none of these lines do dialysis on every cruise; just certain ones....reason I said 'limited'. Did dialysis as early as possible each morning so as to not ruin the day. Bob isn't one that has to sleep the rest of day....THANK GOD!! Good luck and don't worry.....we love to cruise and determined to as long as we can. Judy

  16. Just want to enforce how well dialysis went for DH. Have been in contact with nurses from Explorer of the Seas and they are going to try and be on one of the cruises with us in March 2015. Have posted on two threads....all "my" fears were, for nothing, just have to book thru Dialysis At Sea or pay extra to go thru TA..... Judy
