I've seen a couple people mention to bring wine and sodas on board but check your cruise line. Ours did NOT allow those to be brought on board and held them for you until you left the ship to go home.

Same with self service laundry.  NCL doesn’t offer this (or bringing any sodas/water/etc) although they do offer a deal on day 3 or 4 where u can wash as much as u can fit in the laundry bag for 19.99.  (Line it with a pillowcase and u can fit A LOT in the bag!). NCL also will not allow you to bring bottles of alcohol purchased either in port or on ship to your room.   It’s held until the evening before disembark and then delivered to your stateroom.

I find the shipboard hair products to be very drying to my curly hair.  I always bring my own shampoo and conditioner because of this. Also, def agree with the air freshener.  Bathrooms are small and it can be close quarters.  We most recently stayed in a Haven 2 br on NCL and there is a thick curtain closing the bathroom off from the master BR so the spray definitely comes in handy.  Most of this advice on this thread is not cruise line specific so I’d definitely recommend checking with the cruise line prior to following some of this advice.

cool.. so a WHOLE bunch of options because of different Haven categories.

    1) if i win a haven bid, am i paying the higher DSC?

    2) also, i'm going solo on the Bliss.

am i paying 2x my Haven bid if i win? ie: forced double occupancy rate?

    3) hm.. If on Bliss balcony, no bidding possible on aft or forward balconies? or Large balconies (B6)?

Not sure about 3, but for the DSC, if you’ve prepaid, you do not pay the difference.  We did both Upsell and won a bid into Haven and both times we did not have to pay the additional amount.  The bids are doubled so yes you would pay double the bid amount to upgrade. 🙂

Question:  I keep receiving the email to bid. Well I finally did place a bid but when I went to look on the website, all the cabins i bid on were sold out. Why do they allow you to bid if cabins are not available?  We sail in 17 days.

They also do that on the off chance someone has to cancel last minute.  I’m sure it doesn’t happen often but occasionally it does so they probably want to have options to fill the cabins if it does.

  4. THANK YOU - This was very helpful to me in understanding, we do not sail until August, therefore I have not yet had the pleasure of an invite, of what the "Bid Board" would look like. We are in an Inside Stateroom as we spend little time in the Room, therefore, I would consider a bid if the opportunity is there for an Ocean View, and or Balcony. Thank you again for these details, they were very helpful

You're welcome! Keep in mind these are Haven prices... if you have an inside cabin you will most likely be offered oceanview and balcony, and the range for these is much lower! If you decide to bid, I wish you luck! Since there are so many more OV and Balc rooms I think ppl have a much better chance of getting one. I will mention since I saw a post in one of the fb groups I'm in, the OV rooms tend to be lower levels and one person stated the sound of the waves hitting the hull prevented him from sleeping. Idk if everyone would have that issue but something to consider since with the bidding you cannot choose which stateroom you actually get assigned.

  5. The example specifically mention people sitting at the same table. Are you so desperate for an argument that you're willing to change the example just so you can cry "wrong"?

    Troll alert.

No and far from a troll but looking at your replies to everything you are saltier than the Atlantic Ocean. If you have such an issue with this thread why are you even on it? Seems trollish to me...

  6. Not EXACTLY what you're looking for but may help give ppl an idea of what it looks like...

I'm currently in a balcony midship (BA category) since apparently the room you're booked in determines your upsell offers.

H2 and H3 range 1500-3000. 1500-1770 is poor, 1780-2070 is fair, 2080-2390 is good, 2400-2720 is strong and 2730-3000 is excellent.

H4 is 1000-2750. 1000-1370 is poor, 1380-1770 is fair, 1780-2180 is good, 2190-2490 is strong and 2500-2750 is excellent.

H5 and H7 is almost the same at 500-2000.

500-820 is poor, 830-1190 is fair for H5 but H7 is 830-1200 for fair and 1210-1580 for good and the H5 is 1200-1580 for good (I double checked it and don't know why there's a $10 difference between the 2). 1590-1810 is strong for both and 1820-2000 is excellent.

    H6 is 800-2500.

800-1160 is poor, 1170-1560 is fair, 1570-1980 is good, 1990-2270 is strong and 2280-2500 is excellent.

    Hope this helps!

  7. Except of course that everyone on your sailing now knows that they only have to bid $70 to outbid you on the balcony cabin. IOW...by revealing your bid, you just set the new minimum for balcony cabins on your cruise and thus have driven the price up....and NCL thanks you for that.

Except I don't know her sail date...so what she bid doesn't change anything. This is a good idea and ppl shouldn't knock it. This is a whole new process and ppl are going to want to talk about it.

  8. This will be my third cruise and so far, I have done pretty well with clothes . I have just lost 25 lbs. and need all new summer clothes, ( awww, poor me, lol) anyhow, I need to find wrinkle free or clothes that hardly wrinkle. I live on the east coast of the US, where either online or stores do I find good quality but not high like Chico's? Thanks:cool:

Hard to say without more info. Depending on where u live there are tons of amazing outlet malls on the east coast where u could get great stuff at a decent price. Chico's even has an outlet here in CT. I like Banana Republic and NY& Co, but there are lots of great options.

  9. Me too. I am hoping they start bringing the prices back down to a reasonable fare. I keep checking but the prices are up 2-3 thousand per cruise. Just not worth it.

Freespir8 me too! After reading some of these posts I checked to see how much it would be to just upgrade to the room I want now and prices went up on my cruise. 2 br (incl tips and insurance) is almost $12k now. It's def not worth it so I'll be hoping I win a bid once I get the email.

  10. I have seen many posts in getting mini fridge emptied. When, where, and how do I make the request? Steward only or can I email the request in beforehand? Thanks

I called the concierge desk yesterday and asked for the fridge to be emptied so hopefully it'll be done before I board so I can just put our stuff right in.

  11. "I wish I knew before"...

*Not to stress over what I was going to wear.

*Fear that I wouldn't fit in.:)

*Not to bring a beach bag because I never used it. Instead I used a small cross body purse that held a water bottle, small wallet, etc.

*Bringing a pop-up hamper would be so great for dirty clothes. It folds flat, keeps clothes off the floor and out of my suitcase. Ours had handles in case I wanted to take them to the laundry.

    *To bring more casual outfits.

To an extent I always look at it as why be so self conscious? What are the chances you will ever see any of these fellow passengers again? Worry about you, and have a great time. Who knows, maybe someone seeing you have so much fun will encourage them to do the same! 😊

  12. I love this tip. Hadn't even thought about that. My husband saves his coins so he can buy a couple of snickers at work each day. Wonder if he'd be willing to give up his snickers for an extra drink on board? :D

I always empty my pockets every night and put all my change in a jar. I just cashed it in and got $52 for our cruise this Sunday!

  13. We had Ocean Blue with the dining plan when the a la carte menu rolled out and it was sooooo good. We paid the $15 upcharge per person. I really wanted the extravaganza but didn't want to pay the price so for a work around I ordered the Mussels and King Crab Legs as an appetizer (you can order as many appetizers as you like) and then got the whole cold water lobster as my main course. No shrimp or clams like what would have been included with the extravaganza but worked out well for me. Just an idea. :D

I was told by someone that sailed BA last week and asked at Ocean Blue that the dining plan only covers one appetizer, one entree and one dessert. When were you able to order multiple apps?
