  1. Completed online checkin on 9/22 at the 30 day mark before sailing and it shows Pending Approval under Guest Information for both of us. Onboard Account and Travel Plans are both Complete and we chose our port arrival time. How long does it take for the Guest Information portion to be reviewed and approved?  This is the area where we have our personal info and photos of passport and self.  Called Disney and they said it can take a various amount of time as it's a manual review.  I was told to call back if it's not approved a week prior!!

Has anyone had this issue? How long did it take for your info to get approved.  Now we're just waiting for that and also to complete Safe Passage in about 2 weeks.

  2. I had a reprice after final payment on a Celebrity cruise, which goes through RC's price guarantee, and I was told the difference will be available only onboard, not prior in Cruise Planner.  This was about 2 weeks ago and cruise is next week.

I also had received a $100 OBC as a bonus and that was available via Cruise Planner but I had to apply it to dining, excursions, whatever BEFORE the cruise otherwise I would lose it.

Yes it can. No worries, ask your room steward. (Assuming you're not straddling a fire break, which is unlikely, but would be the same on any line).

Thanks for your reply!  The answer I got from Norwegian steward was they couldn't because it's part of the ship's structure. I thought to myself wouldn't this be the case of all cruise lines ships then? LOL

  4. I have 2 connecting balcony cabins on the Seaview (Med cruise 2020) and am wondering if the partition outside on the balcony can be opened up?  RC Oasis, Liberty (Caribbean cruises 2015 & 2016) let us do it when we had 5 and 3 cabins booked next to each other. Also, RC Ovation (Australia 2017) let us with 3 cabins. Norwegian Star (Med cruise 2018) didn't allow the balcony partition to be opened on our 3 balcony cabins next to each other.  Hoping someone has knowledge of MSC policy regarding this.

  5. Plastic and paper straws can be recycled.

This is just a ridiculously cheap cost cutting move and could backfire by becoming the poster child for NCL nickel and diming.

Plastic is not recyclable when it lands in the ocean and ingested by marine life or floating around. If people would be responsible in not leaving their trash on the open decks to be blown overboard then this would reduce some of the trash that finds its way in the ocean/sea.

Those of you that bring straws, or any other disposable item, please throw your own trash away instead of leaving it around your chairs for someone else to pick up. :)

  6. I believe one of the main issues with plastic straws is that they end up in the ocean/sea. I have seen on EVERY cruise people just leaving their trash/drinks on the open decks. As we all know it can get pretty breezy out there and these light weight items find themselves overboard.

I was just told Vancouver will be getting rid of them. I also saw that Alaska Airlines will replace non-recyclable plastic straws with sustainable, marine-friendly alternatives on their flights and at their lounges starting Summer 2018.

  7. Booked flights - direct from PHL to Venice and back. Wow, air prices are expensive ... almost the price of the cruise! Well insured for delays with cancel for any reason due to MIL illness.

My friends and I are booked for 8 nt Adriatic 10/28-11/5 and I'm waiting for air fares to drop. I think you may have jumped the gun booking your flights already if you booked Economy. Best time to purchase for US to Europe is 3-6 months out. If you booked Business or First then maybe not so much. Enjoy your trip and let us know how the disembarkation goes.

  8. Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some tips on tentative plans. My friends and I will be on NCL Star arriving Dubrovnik on 10/29/18 from 1p-9p and I'm wondering the best way to plan the day. I'm thinking ferry to Cavtat, then bus to take the cable car down from Mt. Srd and then walk the wall. Will the cable car and wall be open in late afternoon or evening? How much time should be allotted for Cavtat? TIA!

  9. On the NCL STAR (and its sister ship the DAWN) the life boats are tucked in under your deck 9.

When walking the Promenade deck 7 you can see the life boats hanging from their davits causing

the obstructed viewing cabins on deck 8.

From your balcony cabin on deck 9 looking straight down you may see a very small portion of the

external walkway on the life boats but nothing bothersome for photo taking.

The ONLY problem that you will have with the life boats is when they are used for tendering and

during routine maintenance when the life boats are hoisted out over the water and then lowered.

"The Squeaky Wheel sometimes needs some lubrication (grease)" ! The noise can be troublesome

but it is a daytime exercise and not something sleep depriving.

Okay, thank you! I looked up some pics and I see that they are tucked in. I'm not sure which ports, if any, will be tender. We are going to Dubrovnik, Kotor, Athens, Santorini, and Naples.

  10. I think I may have misunderstood the cancellation/change fees as I haven't been on NCL since 2006. At first I thought reading terms and conditions that once you put a deposit down you forfeit it if any changes are made or cancelled. I'm looking at booking an 8 night Med cruise in Oct 2018 however my group won't be able to solidify time off until next year. We want to take advantage of the prices now and the reduced deposit. Can booking be cancelled or name changes made with 100% refund up to 90 days prior?

    TIA!

  11. I'm so thankful to come across this thread!! I returned from a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise a week ago and my ankles and feet were so swollen. Halfway through the cruise they looked like elephant feet! UGH!! This was the worst swelling I've experienced although I always swell some when I fly and on cruises. I only had a 3 hour flight the day before the cruise and I could tell that I had some swelling later that same day. It just got worse on the cruise. When I got home from the cruise I weighed myself and I was up 10 pounds!! Within 3 days I had lost all 10, boy was I peeing a ton everyday. I can't believe I had 10 pounds worth of water weight in a week! I drank mostly bottled water but I do remember that I drank water served at the table in the MDR most nights, not much though. I probably had 5-6 alcohol beverages every day, I don't drink hardly any at home. We exercised (weights and cardio-same as at home) the 3 sea days of the cruise and still had major swelling. By the 5th day both ankles were achy due to the major swelling. I wasn't anymore sedentary than I am at home so I know that's wasn't the issue, and I was active at the 3 ports. Out of 4 women I was traveling with I was the only one that had swelling, and major bloating.

I have a 3 week trip to Europe in June including a 12 night Med and then a 14 night Singapore to Sydney cruise later in 2017. I'm definitely going to take a brush, arnica gel, travel compression socks, potassium pills and maybe a diuretic to help stave off the swelling for the upcoming big trips. I was so uncomfortable for most of this recent cruise and I certainly don't want to feel that way on the longer trips in the future. I will also try these remedies if I do any other air travel before then.

I'll add that I'm 42 and I do not take any medication and have good blood pressure. I did drink half a cup of coffee at breakfast everyday to help myself be regular.

Thank you everyone for the helpful info.

  12. Does Quantam Class, specifically the Ovation, have 2 bedroom suites where there's actually 2 beds? Not looking for a bed and sofa pull out. I've read somewhere awhile ago that there's a 2 bedroom suite where the second bedroom is really an interior connected which is fine, but I don't remember what ship that was. Regardless, I'm specifically inquiring about the Ovation. Thanks!
