Annieuk.
Hello, Saga have given us the opportunity to rebook a cruise in 2021. Must be chosen, and booked prior to 31st October 2020. We to, would like either of the Spirit ships. Thought offer fair enough. However if they had said full refund, would have accepted, due to these exceptional circumstances.
Good luck!

Just now, Littlewh said:
I have cancelled my cruise departing10 April, France and Spain . Footsteps of St James. Due to the ongoing problems of both the current onboard Norivirus, plus the concerns of Coronovius.
No refund, but allowed to postpone into 2021.

Sorry, my spelling errors, Norovirus!
Verbatim, quote from Saga, " a further deep clean", my mistake, thinking there had been only one previously.
-
We sail on 10 April, Footsteps of St James. Contacted Saga yesterday, regarding reported continuation of Nirovirus outbreaks, plus their current standing regarding Coronovirus .
Nirovirus : A second deep clean with be done on arrival back to Southampton 2nd March .
Coronovirus : Unless F.O. changes its travel status, all as normal. Extra screening and checks, common sense on cleanliness etc.
No boarding, full refund if you have travelled in past 30 days to a list of middle/ far east destinations , plus Italy.

Can anyone recommend a cruise that encompasses both several ports in Australia and New Zealand please?
-
Purchased vouchers on river cruise. Booked ocean cruise for 2020. Deduction taken at point of booking for us, deposit payment only. As these vouchers can be bought as gifts ,as long as in recipients name, interesting to hear if they can be taken off account at any time.
Sorry, why can't they be purchased onboard ocean cruises? Have I misunderstood?

Just bought cruise vouchers on Douro cruise, the usual, Viking double the value. Plus the usual ,book another future cruise within 30 days of return and they will double your repeat customers offer. Good for me!

Am I correct in thinking, that a Russian visa is NOT required if stay is less than 72 hours, and you can use the cruise ships land tours?
-
Any body sailed this route? Have done several river cruises with different companies, but not this one.
I'm interested to try, so any reviews would be all.

Just done similar trip last week with uniworld.
Tain and Tournon small towns ,easy to walk both. VERY hot indeed. wine tastings everywhere. And valrona choccy factory, loads of tastings.
Obviously steep slopes, land not irrigated, so everywhere dry and dusty, and the mistral can blow up at any time, remember the film , chocolate?
Arles decent trips, Lyon ,we did the silk weavers, but on most trips you can see the traboulles, alleyways hidden. Les halles, yes a huge market, try and wander on your own.
-
Have a look at Uniworld. Fly into Marseille. Ship Avignon to Lyon. Just done this, cannot recommend high enough.

Port shuttles charged to your stateroom in dollars. You can settle this in cash or card at the end of cruise.
Is it worth the trip? Mmmm, will you have seen enough if this town? How hot/ rainy is it? How many castles or temples will you have seen.make your decision closer to the end of trip. Our cruise included free transfers to and from ship to airport. So $140 pp, seems a lot to me.
Google, using a Japanese toilet!! Most useful.

We did two of your destinations in May with Princess. Kochi, which shuttle took you very close to town, markets and castle $10, and Busan a bus journey of at least 35 minutes as we docked in a vast container port some way from the huge sprawling city again $10. All Princess shuttles bar one charged$10 the other was $5. The final day tour to mop up the time was a special disembarkation tour ,tailored to fill your time ,yet get you to the airport on time.,was offered 2 days before the final day.
-
We traveled to Japan with Princess in May. Shuttles in every port for a nominal fee. Be aware, some ports were a distance from the town or city on itinerary. May need a local bus, or train to get to them. E.g. Hiroshima. Some ports provided their own shuttles of dock.
Final day, Kobe, for us,an offer of a trip to Osaka to fill day up for evening flight.
All out of cabins for 8 am, the usual. Last off ship seemed to be about 10.30.am
Japan was wonderful, particularly Kyoto.
-
Thank you all for info!. Just used to Oceania with free shuttle everywhere:)
-
Help please!
First time Princess cruisers, will shuttles be provided in ports? In Japan? Do we have to pre book every day. Presume there is a charge?
Thanks

Extreemley disappointing, and somewhat annoying for you, you had done your homework, checked, but still let down.
As you have probably read, we were notified 16 days before departure. However, when asked if we could get a full refund due to a radical change in itinerary, Viking did so within 36 hours.
I realise that some travellers may have flights that cannot be refunded, extra add-on arrangements, private tours etc ,which would be compromised.
I think people should consider Tunis and Algiers now a no go port for some cruise lines.
We just need these cruise lines and their agents to be upfront and honest at the point of booking,as far as they possibly can.
Rant over......
-
For complete clarification, we were notified on Dec 18 th of change in itinerary. Cancelled, and fully refunded to us, by Viking, into bank 20 th Dec.
Straight forward ,no problems.
Most satisfied.
-
Viking did the honourable thing.

No different for UK passengers. When I was contacted by Viking on 18 th. I asked about my options, due to radical change of omitting the continent of Africa, was I entitled to a full refund?
The answer was ,yes. Fortunately, booking made in UK are included of flights and other extras, so a complete refund.
A similar problem to the Black sea 2 years ago with Oceania, resulted in cancellation ,but I lost a considered sum on flights to Istanbul, which I could neither substitute or get refund at such a late date.
It's just one if those things, you try to protect yourself as much as possible with insurance etc but doesn't always work to your advantage.
Still bitterly disappointed, haven't travelled Viking Ocean, only rivers, this had been Very good deal with these destinations.
-
Yes indeed the itinerary for 4 th Jan has been changed as well. No Tunis or Algiers. Substitutes Naples and Palma.
Viking sells their Uk hols inclusive of flights, gratuities etc. So, fully entitled to refund due to any radical change in itinerary.
UK still deems it safe for travel to this area. Can see that US travellers have a more difficult decision to make.
Very easy to get on train Naples, a matter of less than 10 euros to Pompeii or Ercolano for visiting these wonderful sights. A very short walk to both.
-
Have just received phone call from Viking, cancellation of Algiers and Tunis. Dep 4 th Jan
Substitutes Naples and Palma.Due to fears of travel to this area of U.S gov.
The Bardo in Tunis was the lure for us booking.
Cancelled and will receive full refund due to radical change of itinerary.
Very disappointed.
Travelled to China this time last year. A wonderful cruise.
