Yep, the main difference is the bathroom. I must disclose, however, that my DW developed a close personal relationship with the shower. She felt the upgrade was well worth it.

Depends on the cruise line's policy. I think if a ship is selling well, and the sail date is close, they wouldn't do a charter. It was a bit out, and the ship wasn't too sold when they cancelled the date. In theory, they could cancel right up to sail time. They would face an awful financial loss though.

Everyone booked, including myself, were bumped off. Some compensation was offered by NCL.

Caveat here: If you hear rumor of your cruise being cancelled, wait until they bump you. I rebooked a day early and was denied any compensation.

Yep. My Marine Traffic alert put them back in Port Miami this morning. I think there's another short charter leaving tonight or tomorrow. Back by Saturday for the next regular sailing.

A group called "It Works!" chartered the ship. There was a regular sailing, but they bumped all the passengers.

Hurricane Matthew Update - October 6 at 6:00 PM (10:00 PM UTC)

At Norwegian Cruise Line, the safety and security of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance. The company is continually closely monitoring weather systems, including the tropics, and all Norwegian Cruise Line ships offer state-of-the-art radar and weather equipment. In the event of inclement weather, we have the flexibility to sail a route around the affected area.

Currently, we are very closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean. To ensure a safe and enjoyable cruise for all we have made the following adjustments:

*Norwegian Sky's itinerary for the voyage that departed on Monday, October 3 was revised to call on Key West on October 4 and Cozumel on October 5, rather than her normal cruise to the Bahamas. We anticipate that there will not be an impact to the ship's return to PortMiami tomorrow.

*Norwegian Escape will not call on Nassau as scheduled tomorrow and will instead spend the day at sea.

*In order to avoid any potential bad weather associated with the storm, Norwegian Breakaway will depart from Bermuda tomorrow two hours earlier than scheduled, at 1:00 PM.

*At this time, there is no change to embarkation for Norwegian Sky on Friday, October 7 and Norwegian Escape on Saturday, October 8. Should there be any changes, guests will be advised via phone and text messages and updated information will be posted on http://www.ncl.com. We ask that guests embarking on Norwegian Sky do not arrive to the terminal until 11:00 am tomorrow.

Currently, the remainder of our ships are sailing as scheduled and are not impacted by the storm's path.

I've been watching on Marine Traffic. All the cruise ships are smartly traveling just ahead or behind, and well outside of the danger zone. I really think they will do their best to stay on schedule, unless they're forced to deviate.

I agree with several others. I like my cabin choice, but will take Haven if they take my low ball bid.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane

Matthew, located between northeastern Cuba and the southeastern

Bahamas, and on Tropical Storm Nicole, located several hundred miles

northeast of Puerto Rico.

1. A tropical wave is producing a large area of disorganized showers

and thunderstorms several hundred miles east of the Windward

Islands. Development, if any, of this system is expected to be slow

to occur while the wave moves westward at 10 to 15 mph during the

next several days. Regardless of tropical cyclone development,

locally heavy rains and gusty winds are possible in the Windward and

southern Leeward Islands during the next day or two as the wave

moves through the area.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent

* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent

They're both of age, and none of it is an issue with me. Just concerned with the logistics. Part of the issue is that the other cabin is a studio. Those are designated for solo travelers. I don't want my daughter or her girlfriend getting into any trouble.

I have a question for singles that have traveled on NCL.

My DW and I are taking my daughter on a cruise for her 21st birthday. Her girlfriend just booked a solo cabin on the same cruise. We are all booked and paid for.

My question is, has anyone ever had problems being in someone else's cabin overnight?

Must be a fair amount of people interested in bidding. Haven cabins keep disappearing and reappearing. At one point the NCL website showed the Haven to be all sold out. Then later they were back.

Recently someone posted that O'Sheehans doesn't all you to take food back to your room. Does anyone know why? And does anyone know if you're still allowed to take food back from the buffet? Just wondering if there's a health issue, or if NCL is trying to make a profit from the $7.95 room service fee.

I paid a little extra for the room with the balcony I like, so why wouldn't I want to enjoy a quiet snack with my DW? Also, I'm often up before her, so it would be nice to take her some breakfast.

District Brewhouse is one of the reasons I picked a room on deck 8. That and the large balcony. It's going to be so nice to just walk a few feet to get a drink. :cool:

I've noticed that inside rooms can be gotten for a song. Cheaper than even studio. If you're going to spend most of your time elsewhere on the ship or at port, this seems like a good way to go. Bed and a shower.:D

I know that somewhere it was mentioned, but I can't find the thread. It was mentioned that they use LaVazza coffee makers. They take the pods (not K cups) for the room pots. There's also coffee served in strategic places throught the ship in the morning. I was thinking of taking some pods myself.

That's the one they stayed in. He did a video too.

I think he addresses any noise issues, or lack thereof. My DW and I are booked for 8118 in November. FWIW, I think it's a nice quiet area.

This is an awesome review. They stayed in the room next door to 8122.

My daughter's birthday is on the 13th, so we decided to switch weeks. Was able to go from a balcony on deck 13 to a large balcony mini suite. $100 OBC, and paid the price difference for adding her. So, that's one balcony room available. I don't know what's up; but I wish you all a happy, safe cruise.:)

We are on the Nov 5th sailing, and we haven't been notified of any cancellation at this point. If it is chartered, we may rethink our dates. Just tried a mock booking at NCL and I couldn't get our week. Wait and see, I guess.

My guess would be that the ship will sell out very fast at first. Mostly from the Asian market. Large population and a new novelty. Win-win for NCL. May not be an opportunity for Europe or the Americas right away.
