This is why several of us recommend asking the rules onboard prior to purchase.

We had pre purchased it...this was before I was on Cruise Critic a lot.

I will say that guest services were great. We even mentioned that we had already used the card for what we felt was one punch and would like to pay for that coffee. The rep simply said to enjoy the coffee on them...it took someone that was very unhappy with the process and made them very happy.

    Coffee card can be shared.

In typical RC fashion, they don't tell you before you purchase that they may charge multiple punches if you get other than the smallest size.

That is exactly what we ran into on Anthem a couple of years ago. We immediately went to Guest Services who refunded the money for the cost of the card with no problem at all. It just didn't make sense with two punches for a large.

  3. One way is to wait until you get your Seapass card. It will show your level listed on it.

You can call Casino Royale at 888-859-0015 and get where you stand to date. If you have acculated 2500 points in this years terms (From April 1 2019) you will be listed at Prime and will get your free drinks in the casino.

I do believe that if you get to the 2500 points level mid sailing you can still get a sticker from the casino host to get the free drinks. Not 100% sure if that is still the case.

  4. Today on Symphony the question came up regarding the retracting if the funnels on Oasis Class ships.

Captain Rob said that yes the funnels do retract and can do so as needed on this class. After the talk I asked him again about it because of the rumors of they being disabled do to the scrubbers. He said that is not the case and in fact on this sailing that had to retract one of the funnels to do some minor repairs.

I thought some might find this of interest.

Ok yay, I'm crossing my fingers you are all correct!  My friend who was just on Allure a couple weeks ago was under the impression that JS guests didn't have access to Coastal Kitchen at all.  I was/am reallyyyy looking forward to trying it for a couple evenings!

Once you eat there once you will want to eat there the rest of the meals!

Age as of boarding day is the age they use.

I was on a cruise where a kid turned 18 mid cruise and was allowed to play in the casino after his birthday (I would assume on it also, lol)

The kid looked like he was at most 16 and on the last night of the cruise I asked the pit boss how a minor could play. He told me when the card is scanned it notifies the dealer that it’s a minor and they were surprised they didn’t get the notification on him. When they asked him and his parents the told them he had turned 18 on the cruise and actually showed ID.

It would be interesting to know if RCI would go through the expense of changing out 2-3 thousand working locks. It seems like an expense that does little to nothing to increase revenue.

I thought that I read that they are going to be using the smart lock system so wouldn't they then have to change the locks?

There was a separate category called Spa Junior Suite when this class of ship first came out but they changed a bunch of category names a couple of years ago.  I haven't seen it listed as that since then and sailed one in January.

It was still classified as that when we sailed (or at least booked) out last cruise on Anthem. We booked it back in June 2019.

That is what they used to call a spa junior suite.  We found the cabin smaller than other JS we have had on other classes of ship.  It wasn't bad, but just smaller than expected.  Like access to Coastal Kitchen though 🙂

It is still called that...just had one and not sure that I liked the bathroom layout...kind of weird.

They are only on for the Nov 24 and Dec 1 sailings.

I’m on-board on the week before you and it will be L.A.Vation a U2 tribute band playing in the music hall.

We saw L.A. Vation last month on Anthem. i thought that they were very good.

  11. On tables they take your average bet and multiply that by hours played. So if your average bet is $25 you would need to play 96 hours on a sailing to get to 2400 points needed to get a free inside cabin on a cruise. to get to prime you would need 100 hours of play.

Couple of thoughts. The sailing offered lately for the free cruise earned on a sailing stink. I don’t care if I make it to 2400 points anymore. I care about the 2500 to get to prime for the year (4/1-3/31). I take advantage of the plethora of offers I get in the mail and my one free 8 day or less itinerary I get for being prime.

It is strange how everyone always seems to win/be ahead, but the Vegas Strip, Atlantic City, and all the Indian casinos are built with the players always winning.

But very few times have I seen anyone ever give a critical accounting of the money that actually spend gambling, versus what they got back.

Yes, people do win, but MOST do not.

Oh I don’t win. But as long as my loses are less than what my wife and my next cruise would have cost I come out ahead. If I lose a little more than hat we would have paid it’s the price of admission and ok.

  13. For table games the basic formula is average bet * hours played equals points.

This can change from session to session and even in the session if the pit boss adjusts your play up and down.

For example on the last cruise I was playing Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em.

    My standard play was:

    $10 Trips

    $5 Ante-$5 Blind

They then assume a play bet of $5

Making my total bet $25 and I got 25 points per hour.

Some sessions I played more and I think one session the pit boss gave me more credit (and two days the table min was $10 so that right there got me to 40 points per hour.) For the nine night cruise I earned just over 2200 points. One night the casino was only open for 3 hours also.

As for what Prime gets you...one free 8 night cruise (any itinerary) in an inside room and also free drinks in the casino. That is basically the best of it.

Of course the more your play and are rated the better the offers you get in the mail.

Spoke with Nick Weir last night. He's very excited about CATS redo. He couldn't share what got removed, since they were still working on choreography

I thought AWW wouldn't let any changes to that long boring show.

    Mostly agree.

While 3 is probably plenty, I'd even bump that up and say unlimited drinks on the card during the happy hours.

Of course, the down side to this plan is now all the other bars will be more crowded with Diamonds refugees.

yes but theoretically there should be enough bars open.
