After not being able to log in for a couple of days, I reluctantly changed my password. That did the trick and I am now back in my account. I've had the same password forever, so it was probably time to change it anyway!

Same here. Just got back in by changing mine as well.

  2. We booked Hideaway Beach a couple of months ago for $48 each for our October sailing on Wonder. It's on sale today for $43. Was going to rebook, but then noticed the Beach Club on sale for $115, which is by far the lowest I've seen it since we booked the cruise. Friends who are going with us did the Beach Club last fall and really enjoyed it, so we switched our reservation.

I'll continue to keep an eye out for additional price drops, since others have mentioned getting it for even less, but won't be disappointed if not. I think our friends said they paid $140 each last October.

  3. You can fill out the special needs form for a sharps container, but I'm my experience, it's been hit or miss being in the room when we arrive. I just ask the room steward for one, since that's what usually ends up happening anyway. As far as diet, being on a cruise surrounded by temptation makes it hard for any of us. As a newly diagnosed diabetic, your husband also still be figuring out how different foods affect his glucose levels. I do my best to keep it under control, watching carbs etc, but also don't beat myself up about over indulging a few meals on vacation either.

Went on two cruises last year and didn't gain a pound on either one. Did a lot of walking. Skipped the elevator and took the stairs quite often. Every little bit helps. Good luck to him.

    Hello,

My family is booked on the Icon of the Seas in March. My dad is a Vietnamese citizen with a US green card, so I've called the cruise line to ask for what documentation he will need for the cruise, or whether he needs visa for Mexico and Honduras. 2 agents told me that on their system it shows that he needs to have his green card and Vietnamese passport. But regarding visa requirements, he needs to contact Vietnamese embassy to verify as it is the responsibility of the passenger to make sure he has all the documents needed, "just as when you fly."

I would like to ask you all if you have any experience with this situation, or recommendation on what I need to do.

    Thank you!

My less than 10 minutes of research suggest that he will not need a visa for either country, but may need to complete a pre-check for Honduras. Being as he is a permanent resident, perhaps reaching out to the US State Department would help answer your questions definitively. 🤞

I believe when you sign up for a cruise line transfer from the airport to the pier you need to give the date and time of your flight.  I recall someone posting during a previous season that they had attempted to do this very thing, but the cruise line had said 'no' saying that it is only day of arrivals who can use the airport transfer service.

Honestly, an Uber/Lyft or even taxi would be about the same price (maybe cheaper), and you would get to the pier even faster than the motorcoach airporter.

At least on Quantum days (Mondays), it is the only ship at Pier 91, but do expect 4,700 - 4,900+ passengers, as it sails very full during the peak summer months, although your June 3rd sailing it shouldn't be too full.

If that is the case, it's a recent change. Perhaps since covid. I'm thinking it more likely the person in question got an uninformed service rep. Why would the cruise line turn down additional revenue?

Not debating the ease or convenience of alternatives vs the coach transfer. To each their own as they prefer. 😉

I don't normally balk at pricing on a cruise ship, but JR has me scratching my head. A single fixed charge at a burger joint is a bit odd, as some people order a little, others a lot.  If it was a la carte pricing, I might grab a burger.  But honestly, I would have trouble spending $15 myself at a landside JR.

Even more of an oddity, has ANYONE been to a JR on land lately?  I mean, it was pretty cool thirty years ago, but now it's wildly unremarkable.

The only one near us didn't survive the pandemic, but we always enjoyed eating there. I don't find the onboard version to be as good as the land version. The burgers there never seemed remarkably different from what is served in the Windjammer, so at $15, I'd probably skip JR's. Guy's onboard Carnival? Now that's a good burger. And it doesn't cost extra. 😉

I realize this is subjective, but in my opinion there is no comparison between the experience on RCi ships compared with Carnival ships, which is why RCI cruises are more expensive. Apparently I am not the only one who feels this way based on current and future cruise prices for RCI. Paying more for a better experience is well worth it in my book. To me it is the same as buying BMWs and Mercedes instead of Hondas and Toyotas. It is far more enjoyable driving a BMW or Mercedes. Of course everyone’s financial situation is different and has a big impact in deciding what to spend on a cruise ( and what to pay for a car as well).

Yeah, Royal Caribbean and Carnival are different, but wouldn't call Royal Caribbean superior. We've only done 10 cruises spread among Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Princess. We've yet to have a bad experience on any of them. 😉

Apologies, I meant the tribute bands rccl used to have at music hall on oasis and anthem class ships.

I wonder if a different tribute type band will remain on the Icon.  Does anyone know if a rotations will remain after phoenix?

Not to be nit picky, but it's Quantum class. 😉

The cover/tribute band on Anthem when we sailed her several years ago mostly played music from Boston, IIRC. We like the era, but would prefer more variety. The novelty wears off after the first night you see them play. At least it did for us. My wife's sister enjoyed really enjoyed it.

  9. We checked a few dates. An ocean view balcony next June 2025 was $8400. October 2025 was $6000, which is more than double what we're paying for Wonder October 2024. The prices on Wonder are actually higher than what we'd normally pay for a fall cruise, but decided to give a go anyway. It will be our first Oasis class cruise.

  10. Even at $9.99, which it has been for our fall cruise on Wonder since we booked, I find it more than worth it. I'll easily exceed that, even on port days. The refreshment package, on the other hand, I find to be way overpriced. The cheapest I've seen it so far has been $29.99; currently at $33.99. I don't drink coffee, could not care less about fresh squeezed juice, and won't drink enough mocktails or bottles of water to make it worthwhile. If it came down to $20, then maybe.

Nope.  The original name is a no show.

Why would you cancel if yhere is a nrd deposit orcthe price has gone up.

It's a simple switch, there are no what is.

Do we know for certain that this situation won't cause a reprice late, when fares will likely be even higher, or are we just guessing? If we know for certain, then sure, add/swap the new names and be done with it. From the earlier comments, there seemed to be uncertainty in that regard.

We are ok to not collect the trip insurance at all.  We would only need to do that if it doesn’t work out for my in-laws to take the room.   Someone above stated that if my mom ends up being a no show that RC may cancel the reservation and rebook at a different price once we board the ship. Is that possible if she is a no show?

If the cruise isn't until this fall, you are well before final payment, so you can just cancel. If the room was booked with a non-refundable deposit, that is all you would lose at this point. If it were me, I would cancel and rebook with the new names. Saves worrying about all the what ifs.

Did you click the "Reserve" button, and then select 1 Guest? At that point a "Select number of devices" should appear below the Guests section with options 1 through 4.

No, I had not. I previously remembered them being listed separately, but haven't sailed Royal Caribbean since 2019. Thx for the info. 👍
