  1. We own two Sublue underwater scooters, I have attached a photo. We are departing from San Juan and spending 4 days there before we board the Epic. Not only would we want to use them in PR but also on some of our stops. I looked at the prohibited list and I read that hoover boards and drones are prohibited items. Obviously, this is not the same. The only other thing I read is about batteries which the prohibited list says no large batteries. I did speak with an agent on chat that said batteries must be gel-cell, dry cell and FAA approved. These are FAA approved. Do you think I will have a problem? I had ead about people getting prior approval for drones that they store at customer service desk and check in and out each time for use in ports. What number would I call for that? From everything I read I shouldn't have an issue but many people do not know what these are. I would have nowhere to leave it if I cannot take them on.

Vigie is the only one near port. 6-8 minutes can ride, 30 minutes walk.

Small boardwalk with local restaurants and drinks, chairs, natural shade, WiFi access, clean bathrooms.

Otherwise - Reduit in Rodney Bay, 30 minutes north, WiFi at Spinnaker's.

Naked Fisherman is much more like 35-40 minutes away due to traffic, particularly when a ship, or ships, are in port. One way there an back.  Beautiful upscale cove beach restaurant and setting.. great food.

    Safe travels

The beach restaurant one can recommend is The Naked fisherman, it has free WiFI for guests only.

20 minutes from the pier.  Book your lunch/day in advance as it’s a boutique style on a small beach away from T’erds.

So I waited to long and now the naked fisherman is showing no bookings for my date (Feb 24). What’s the chances my party of 6 can still get a table? Where else would you recommend? We want a beach with great snorkeling and a nice restaurant. Sugar beach seems to far. We are in port 1-8pm. Are there any great restaurants near the port? If we decided to go to the beach and head back for dinner?

  3. Is it possible to use the beach without the Marriott day pass? Is the beach public or is there a public area right near there? Can you rent umbrella and chairs close by? My husband and sons would like to golf at the Marriott and my parents and I would enjoy the beach. Trying to figure out the best way for the day.

  4. Was just coming to find this out as well. I read online that it does but was hoping for first hand knowledge. We will be sailing from San Juan in February so can report back if no one else updates. I know the NCL Epic is currently sailing from San Juan. Maybe ask there as well?

Ksss2013 - Yes…. There was a certain part of the audience that whispered the entire time and a few folks got up and left.  It is out there,  but very well done and quite a show production.

Some final thoughts before my flight home.

Turns out, the ship was almost completely full.  (Confirmed by a cruise staff member) Remember though that this was the 9 day NYE cruise which typically sells out early, sails full,  and is more expensive than the 7 day cruises during the months of January /February.

CPT - with a full boat, if you decide to disembark at say, 8:00am - 10:00am and just can’t get enough of those Garden Cafe breakfasts and want one more “free one”  before you leave, prepare to have long lines exiting the ship.  DO NOT expect to have your breakfast brought to your cabin the last day at the time you have slated it for….. LOTS of activity is going on right outside your cabin when you leave with cleaning crews, etc.  Our room service breakfast did not come this morning during the slated time.  The earlier you leave before 8:00am,  you generally will walk right off and into a taxi as we did.  There was a long line of taxis outside waiting to take passengers away, it’s just snaking your way off the boat with packed elevators and passengers with their steamer trunks attempting leave that’s the challenge.

Again, for all, I’ve saved all of the dailies and will post them once I get back home and have full access to 5 hamster-strength internet.

Thanks for cruising along with me  - Ohio Boomer

Thanks for all the info. Can you tell me what deck you disembark from? Is it the same deck for port stops and the final day in San Juan? Thanks

  6. How long does it take to get there by boat? Were you able to book this?

All taxi rates are per vehicle, not per person.

Love all your info. Do you happen to know if Vigie has any good snorkeling from shore? We have been to St. Lucia for a land vacation and loved the snorkeling. This time we are visiting from a cruise and are only in port 1pm-8pm so really only at the beach until 5pm the latest. So this really limits the places we can go for snorkeling.

  8. When you are at a MDR can you order two drinks at a time? We will be on the Epic in February and I'm considering upgrading to premium. My husband enjoys Caymus Cabernet which I saw listed on a menu by the bottle. With 40% off it becomes reasonable. Now adding in the use of starbucks and Veuve seems more worth it.

  9. When I booked the cruise out of PR I did not book the BOGO airfare because it was about $850. Plus we were going to want to switch the day we left.  I felt like I’d be able to pick my own flights for less or similar. My cruise isn’t until February. Can I still add the BOGO airfare or would it be treated as a rebook and now the rate is higher?

Wasn't that amazing? We got really lucky and so grateful that things turned out the way they did.

Thanks so much for your comments.

I am seriously am having cruise withdrawal and can't wait until cruising is opened back up. I never realized just how much until recently and not cruising for over a year + now. 😞

You are welcome and glad you for enjoying them. Definitely consider a land vacation...well worth it to experience the entire island and take your time and see it all.

Thanks so much and I appreciate it.

Yea, I shared that with Kendra and she laughed and agreed with you 😉 She's currently trying to plan a Florida vacation for us real soon...as in REAL soon, like less than 2 weeks soon and I'm not sure if it will happen, but if it does, you guys will be the first to know with a new review.

Are you talking about for the St Thomas trip or Orlando?

    The St Thomas portion.

Try RCI first, they may tell you to call TA, but the info is with RCI.

I had the same issue -- received partial refund. I talked to my TA who called Royal. She was told that we would see the balance of the refund in a week or two. When that didn't happen, I called Royal. Balance of refund finally showed up a month later. I would call Royal.

Thanks. I called Royal and she stated that she saw the partial refunds and after reviewing further said the rest is still being processed and is expected in 30-40 days.  She didn't answer if that was 30-40 days from yesterday or from the day of the partial refund?!  I guess I will continue to wait!

  12. My in laws and my family were supposed to be on Freedom April 19. The cruise was canceled. We booked through a big box TA. My cancellation email from TA says cruise cancelled April 2. It says to allow up to 90 days for refund. On 5/6 my mother in law received the taxes and fees and $1104.  On 5/23 she received $428. These amounts do not add up to the total. On 5/23 I received $428. Should I be concerned? Doing it like this makes me feel like it was done wrong.  My 90 days is the first week of July. If they are not suggesting 90 business days that is!  Do I call? This is ridiculous!

  13. I bring an aromatherapy diffuser for the bathroom with essential oils. I bought one that has a light. It serves as an air freshener and a night light.

I also bring a shower curtain and hang it with the magnetic hooks from the ceiling. This way when sharing a room with our kids we don’t disturb them with our lights at night if we stay up. It also makes getting ready in the mornings faster since I can close it and change behind it.

We also bring small portable fans to keep the air moving and white noise.
