AFAIK, we don't have any rock climbing areas. I may be wrong but I've never heard of it in Bermuda.

    We do beaches, not mountains!

climbing doesn't always have to include mountains. i'm assuming youve never been climbing before?

We've been  regular visitors to Bermuda for 35 years. Never been bored. Beautiful place...wonderful people.

You're wrong about beaches having nothing more than basic bathrooms. Horseshoe Bay has food, drink, showers. Tobacco Bay has food and drink too.

I guess if you like loud music, an overabundance of drunks at tourist trap bars some of the places you've named would be appealing 🙄.

wow, youve been visiting bermuda for a long time.

so that bodes the question...what excursions/activities do you recommend? thanks

Yes, we had the premium package on the Legend last month, and were able to send and receive texts from other iPhone owners back home. A text I tried to send to my son, who has a Samsung, came back immediately as not deliverable.

i wonder if one gets the value (medium) plan if imessage still works?

Over New year's I flew to Puerto Rico, went on a 7 day cruise, stayed two days afterwards in San Juan, and was back at work yesterday morning without anyone other than immediate family knowing...  My place of employment would have probably flipped out and had me quarantine upon returning....

just curious...did you take a covid test when you returned? you know, just to be sure you and others around you stay healthy.

The short answer is because Carnival insurance includes a "Cancel For Any Reason" rider on their policy. CFAR riders on an insurance policy is not legal in NY. NY doesn't consider CFAR an "insurance".

Go to this site and you'll be able to purchase better insurance at a cheaper price anyway. If you have any question before buying, just call them up.

agree that there are cheaper options but when i compared prices buying insurance through the cruise line in the long run came out much more convenient when filing a claim. essentially, when insurance is bought through the cruise line a claim is not necessary. that alone makes it a value choice for me.

A recent traveler told me that as soon as you board, go straight to the Customer Service Desk and see if you can purchase an upgrade … ex: balcony to a suite (if any available of course). Has anyone ever done this and if so, was it cost effective?

    Thanks and happy safe sailing.

ive never heard upgrading rooms after boarding happening but it couldnt hurt to try.

report back after your attempt please.

OP here . . . thanks for your comments everyone!   Just to clarify:  I know according to the protocols in place now we cannot cancel without penalty unless we were to get a sympathetic agent on the phone.

not true fortunately for you. we had a cruise scheduled for tomorrow 1/2. i called yesterday afternoon to cancel our cruise due to the recent cdc announcement and other reasons. we received a full 100% refund no questions asked.

I am trying to figure out how to pack my med it needs to be cold. How do people pack their med when it needs to be cold? I was thinking a small cooler with some ice pack.

youre going to want to bring a soft/foldable cooler. i believe the hard coolers are not allowed.

There has been lots of people on this board that have said there is a propulsion issue which is why 2 weeks before your sailing, Carnival sends out a letter stating there is a change in order of ports and you go to Puerto Vallarta Monday, Mazatlan Tuesday and Cabo Wednesday and that time is changed to 6:30 am -3 pm

hi smelly 😁. from your most recent cruise(s) what did you do to stay healthy? was it mostly being good about wearing your mask (everywhere), washing hands a lot, hand sanitizing or did you go even beyond that? i ask because we're leaving sunday on the legend. thanks

See this is why the crew likes Baltimore. I’m sure our passengers would have been kind and patient if 100% of our crappy Bahamas ports had been canceled. Heck barely anyone bothered to get off the ship anyway!

Sorry couldn’t resist a tongue-in-cheek comment to lighten the mood. Honestly your situation sucks but as you note, getting all nasty about something everyone understood was a possible risk, and can’t be controlled, makes no sense and adds unnecessary an non-productive negativity.

Especially with the new variant that is supposedly is more mild?

So if you are feeling sick and get tested during the cruise then you will get stuck in your cabin if you test positive? Wouldn’t most people just pretend that if they are feeling sick then it is just the common cold/flu to avoid getting stuck in their cabin and/or missing their return flight? Everything depends on the honor system at this point? Nobody is going to force you to get tested if you are hacking up a lung in the MDR?

I am just curious because my partner wants to book a cruise and I am thinking that at this point that it is better to wait it out a few months because once onboard then it is basically every man for himself

if you have covid whether you are tested or not wouldnt getting "stuck" in your cabin be better than being out and about potentially getting others sick?

  12. thanks all for your tips. ive decided to select the option to create a "cash account" temporarily until we get to the port then switch it to my amex credit card. this was suggested by a carnival customer service rep. yes, carnival admits theyre having problems with their credit card charging system.

alls good now and completed online check-in.

All three times we took the tests we found it easier to use our phones……with no problems.

thats great all three of your tests were successful.

the reason for suggesting not to use a phone is that some phones would switch between the front camera and rear camera thus not allowing the evaluator to keep an eye on the patient's test, which in turn cancelled the test. by using a laptop/desktop this eliminated the chance of the camera switching.
