If you definitely want a balcony, the Cove is a good choice in October. The seas tend to be rougher that time of year heading from Norfolk. We’ve always felt much less movement on lower decks and the Cove balconies provide that location.

Cruise ships are elevated to a Level 4, yet schools are the “safest place for children to be” according to the CDC this week. Apparently the CDC Director has never spent a day with a Kindergarten class.

He likes Australian Dream. My mom didn't, though. She returned it for a full refund.

Yes, I read those reviews as well. I'm so sorry your trips weren't more perfect for you. It sounds as though you really put a lot into them. Upcoming cruises should be extra special for you. Clearly deserved!

I really enjoyed reading your review since we were supposed to be on this cruise. :( Thanks very much for taking the time to write it.

Hubby uses Australian Dream, which he purchases on Amazon. Lots of my friends have done knee replacement and done great afterwards. I just wait for the elevators and move a little slower. ;)

Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed review. It's an eye opener to those of us considering using this company. I hope your future cruises are much more enjoyable. You're certainly owed one!

We did this one when our DD was about 10. She was on a double with me and Dad had his own. We had never been on jet skis before so for us it felt very fast and hard to keep up. In all honesty it was "scary" to me because I was so afraid she wouldn't be able to hold on to me well enough. I was really terrified that she would fall off while I was flying to keep up with the rest of the group.
Bottom line - don't feel pressured to keep up with the speed demons. Enjoy yourself and your time with your child. My daughter still thinks it was great fun!

Hi all Can anyone tell me how they handle disembarkment for aliens. Do we disembark with everyone or do we have to preclear customs in the lounge before anyone can leave the ship?
thanks
If you're asking specifically about Norfolk, I'm not sure. However we just sailed with a young man from Denmark on Disney. When we returned to Port Canaveral he went through customs along with the rest of us. Chances are Norfolk would handle it the same.
Welcome back to Norfolk, Carnival! We've missed you!!

We tried Skype on our most recent Dream cruise a few months ago and it was a "no go." We were able to Skype while in Nassau by going into the marketplace at the dock and using the wi-fi there. Be careful if you do this, though. Hackers are ready to take any info that's valuable.

Our Cove balcony was very quiet and light free. Our only annoyance was the balcony doors slamming in our neighboring cabins.

I got a cute tankini top paired with swim shorts from Lands End. I tried their standard swim skirt and felt it was too long. They do have a cute mini-skirt length, though. Two of my daughters in their 20's saw my swim shorts and fell in love with them and ordered their own. I guess they didn't think they were too old. We live in a beach community so my kids are usually pretty up to date on bathing suit styles.

From Plymouth we did the excursion to Dartmouth, a beautiful and quaint village. We enjoyed walking through the shops and trying different things to eat like pasties...yumm!
By the way, check out the Plymouth waterfront and the site of departure of the pilgrims. We were there on the 5th anniversary of 9-11 and were so surprised to see the beautiful floral arrangements that the locals had placed there as a memorial to the victims. It really touched our hearts to see that so far from home.
Norfolk VA to Bermuda - Balcony Choice

Actually the seas can be smooth as glass when you go. We just never know during hurricane season. It’s a wonderful time of year to be in Bermuda, though. You’ll really enjoy this cruise.
