  1. For those who have done the excursion. Where does the catamaran return you to in Juneau? We plan to rent a car for the afternoon and would like to make plans accordingly. The tour description says 5-6 hours, so I am guessing we will be back in Juneau by 2:00p. Is this accurate?

The excursion boat will pull up along side the ship out at fiord. Then you will meet back up with the ship back in Juneau port. You will get back on the ship then disembark to Juneau port. We were back to the ship by the time the ship docked in Juneau.

  2. Do you mean a private tour where you can have a say in this?

Dartmouth downtown, try the Canteen or the Wooden Monkey. On the way to Fisherman's Cove there is the Pleasant Street Diner and John's Lunch which is famous. If you like clams and chips or fish and chips, etc. check out John's lunch.

In Halifax away from the waterfront there is the Brooklyn Warehouse which has interesting food. There are many, many others: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurants-g154976-Halifax_Halifax_Region_Nova_Scotia.html

    Hi MaryAnn,

Yes, we’re doing a private tour and can stop where we want to stop.

  3. Was curious to see what the status of Tracy Arm has been recently for cruise ships? Heading up next week on the 8/18 Celebrity Solstice sailing.... booked the morning excursion on the small boat via Celebrity excursion to increase our chance of seeing a glacier if the cruise ship can't navigate it due to ice flow. Really hoping to get to see either Tracy Arm or Endicott? Any scoop? Thanks!

I've been watching the Solstice the past few weeks and it's gone up Endicott Arm. We leave tomorrow on the Solstice and will keep you posted.

  4. We've used the service several times in various places and love it. My only question or surprise is that I'm hearing there is no charge. Am I correct? Celebrity always listed a $20 charge per person each time we've used it before. Can someone verify that there is no charge? We travel at the end of the month and our flight leaves Seattle at 2:15pm.

    Thank you.

There is usually a charge for this service. However, the city is picking up the tab. This allows passengers to visit the city without their luggage. It's a win win for both the city and passengers.

  5. I'm looking to use the Seattle Port Valet to check into the airline and have our bags sent to the airport. However, I was reading where people had issues with their boarding passes and luggage not showing up. What is the experience of people that have used this service on the Solstice? We're flying out on United later in the afternoon of disembarkation.

  6. We are booked on June 8, 2018 cruise on the Solstice. We would really like to do the Tracy Arm Fjord Glacier excursion, but do not see it on the the list of excursions for our curise. This is our first cruise on Celebrity. Do we book this from the Celebrity site or from the Excrusion site. Or I thought it might be like the Carnival cruise where that excursion only comes up in January before the cruise. Thanks for any help.

The excursion will come up under your cruise when available. We booked directly through the ship.

  7. Just got off the Solstice this morning. The cost of the shuttle is $5 per person for a round trip ticket, cash only. The shuttle does not make any stops between the dock and town. The ride is less than 5 minutes.

You can definitely walk into town but if mobility is an issue, the shuttle is fast and convenient.

Thank you for the response. Does the shuttle go all the way into town or stop at Mt Roberts tram? It looks like the tram is still a ways from town. Thank you again.

  8. 'We were docked at the AJ Dock which is straight ahead.....it was the furthest out from downtown, but they had free shuttle buses that ran every 15 minutes so you were always able to get a ride coming and going.'

^^^ this is from a trip review in the Ports of Call - Alaska forum.

Does the shuttle make any stops between the dock and town? I noticed there were places between but I'm not able to make the walk.

    PS: 3 weeks to go.

  9. Can you take the Ulu knife on the ship?

I've read they will take the knife when you board but return it the night before you disembark.

  10. We did this today off of the Celebrity Solstice. The Tracy Arm had too much ice for the ship to go thru so we visited the Endicott Arm.

The catamaran pick us up right off the ship and we were able to get a closer look at the Dawes Glacier which was amazing.

    I highly recommend this.

Where did they drop you off at after the excursion? How was the embarkation and debarkation on the catamaran?
