  1. I called NCL today to find out about a cruise with a military discount. The man told me that they didn't have any for the rest of the year but they had quite a few last March and April.

He went on to say they don't have a list, scheduling is sporadic, but normally you have to be booked 9 months out. That's OK so what do you have next year? Well, they don't have anything for next year.....YET.

This seems really peculiar to me. Has anyone ever had a Military discount? And if you are active duty, how can you possibly take a cruise that is only available 9 months out - if ever.

I am annoyed that a business advertises that they do something nice for vets but don't really do it. Sorta like Wounded Warrior Project.

Look at booking through the Tours and Travel office on base. USAA also has discount travel services.

  2. Instead of focusing on having their own fun, they keep looking around at others and pointing out how unsophisticated the supposed "virgins" are as compared to their own jaded, world-weary selves.:p

Thank you. I AM a cruise newbie, and as I read this thread, I'm just wondering exactly why any of the aforementioned "faux pas" are an issue? If it doesn't affect you, let the newbies enjoy their cruise any way they want to? The getting up early, the bathrobe to breakfast, the lanyard, excursions and photos. I fully plan to be guilty of all of it. :-D

  3. Oh no! Not gonna cancel and rebook!! I like my cabin choice, and have already chosen my excursions and special things for our anniversary. It's not that big a deal, I was just wondering! Thank you everyone for setting me straight :-)

  4. I booked my cruise 18 months out. As the cruise is getting closer, I notice the cruise line is offering better perks for people who book now. I kind of feel penalized for booking early. This is our first cruise, and I'm not sure if I called the cruise line could they "sweeten the deal"?
