  1. Thanks for your comments Caz. Enjoy your cruise and let us know how it went.

PS: if in doubt about the food; try the Lido Restaurant or canteen as someone called it earlier in this thread. They really didn't disappoint as you go in with quite a low expectation [emoji6]

Will do SonotT... Plan to eat MDR for 2 x formal ( early sitting) and Lido buffet for 2 x evening departures so we get more time onshore..... the other 3 we will see!!!

  2. Maybe a sequel is in the pipeline....[emoji6]. Whilst a lot of what you have raised would be applicable to the majority of cruise lines and their ships (and I also note that you booked this as at last minute deal which might explain some of your IMHO misguided observations aka harp and piano music and the general ambience around the ship)the one repeating theme across most replies is the 1. higher drink prices and 2. the lower quality of the dishes served. On 1. I agree that Cunard have made a mistake here....post Brexit with a weaker Pound we Brits have seen a hike in prices in real terms so this change in the measures plus extra for mixers is the equivalent of being punched in the faced then kneed in the nether region! 2. Food - I will post my own thoughts are our cruise in a fortnight to see if things have improved or if my own experiences differ markedly. Have enjoyed your posts OP as this thread as it has had so many differing opinions which surely what democracy is all about.

  3. I always read the cruise reviews with interest and it has helped my wife and I select our cruise QV 12Aug 17 - 7nights Rome to Trieste. Britannia Balcony. Primarily we look at the itinerary and the views travelling in and out of the ports. Also we like to do our own thing onshore so having Brindisi, Kotor, Dubrovnik and Venice are ideal. We then investigate which cruise lines do that itinerary and see what they offer and don't offer. Yes I agree that not wearing a jacket in the heat of the Med on informal nights would be preferable and drinks should be cheaper but we were aware when we booked of the type of entertainment (we don't like the rock climbing wave machine ice skating ships) and the dress code and we accept them. We intend to sign up for the soft drinks package and order the odd cocktail. Again we are not expecting gourmet food but some reviews are complimentary and others not. FYI we are not seasoned cruisers and have only completed a 2 nighter on P&O Britannia. Last year we had a balcony on Emerald Princess but as my wife was hospitalised to days before the cruise we had to cancel so we are looking forward to our week away - maybe some posters don't do sufficient research before hand but I also recognise that things can happen on a day which can cause genuine disappointment.
