We were at Hemingway’s in February. It was awesome! No need to rent a cabana. The beach loungers never filled up. No fee but you have to spend $25/pp to use the chairs. Food and service were both excellent. It is mainly an Asian menu, but they do offer a few standards like burgers. We had mostly finger food - tempura, summer rolls, etc. Hemingway’s is a cruiser’s dream spot! BeautIful, uncrowded beach.

Does the $25pp average out? For example, my MIL does not drink or eat much but we are taking our kids and we will have a couple drinks so I am sure our tab will for sure average out to $25pp. Or is it a strict, keep track of what each person orders sort of thing? Also, we are taking kids ranging from 2-11yrs. are they also $25 pp each? I have been looking around but havent found answers. I might just send an email to them and ask.

You can bring $100 worth of alcohol from Cuba back and $400 tobacco from Cuba. I would assume if you can bring it directly from Cuba that Bahamas is fine. But I understand if you don't want to "assume" either.

Going to be at BCH next week. Can you explain the process of bringing back the bottle? I'd like to bring a couple Havana Clubs back home. Thank you!!

Awesome! Yes, $110 is on the high side and at first I was not even considering it because of the price. I wanted BCH but sold out and then we decided to splurge. It's our 1st cruise, He's never been out of the country, me-just once for my sis wedding at Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman (my 1st trip spoiled me lol) our 18 month old is staying home with grandma, we never have alone time, so we decided to just go for it. Who knows when we'll be on vacay again! Again thank you!! Sticking with Sandals. You've been very helpful!

I'm not worried about the bad butler service, or credit card issues or any of those types of things. My new concerns that arose from the bad reviews were the "small, dirty and not swim-able beach" and run down property and hot tubs not working or dirty, etc. I'm ignoring all the room problems and such. They're all from the past few months and part of me thought maybe it's a trolling issue, you know? Especially since most were on Facebook.

I was just hoping to hear from someone who has been recently and can say, forget those, it's awesome!! I know Melia just did some renovations and has great feedback as well. But I'd like something a little less crowded and no kids was a plus.

Thanks for the tip on the island and snorkeling! Good to know! We will be there from 8-5. I know for a 10am-6pm pass it is $110 pp. although the girl who answered didn't know if I could purchase ahead of time and to find out I needed to call the main 1-800 number. She actually sounded annoyed at anything I asked.

So my fiancé and I were super excited about spending the day at Sandals. Property and beach look beautiful and we wanted a more "upscale resort" feel. Plus, it's adults only and AI! A huge plus for us since we are foodies and would enjoy a few drinks while kayaking and just enjoying the beautiful beach!

BUT, I've recently read (recent 11/2015-3/2016) horrible reviews about horrible customer service, bad food and ugly beach! From Facebook and Google mainly. These were all staying guests and not day pass guests. But to read that service sucks and beach sucks... Now I feel lost on what to pick! BCH is sold out.

Should I stick with Sandals, is it truly worth it? All the cruise critic reviews are fantastic so I'm confused.

Should I do Melia instead??

Nassau doesn't have anything like the AIs in Cozumel. The closest you can get is a hotel day pass. Like mjkacmom said, the AI hotels are Sandals, RIU and Breezes. Sandals is the most expensive but also the most upscale - for couples, adults-only. RIU is $75 if you book in advance through Island Marketing or $100 at the front desk. I believe the price for Breezes has gone up to $80. Do a little research on these and see what suits you.

 

I think Melia also has an AI option but it might be cheaper just to get the basic day pass and pay as you go for food and drinks.

 

I've been to all of these, so if you have any specific questions I'll try to answer.

But NOW, I've been reading a lot of horrible reviews on Facebook, Google, trip advisor, etc. and am hesitating. What was your experience at sandals, when did you go and would you recommend it or another resort instead? Thank you!! Edit: reviewers were all STAYING guests, not day passes. But a lot of complaints were bad, rude service, mediocre to poor food and bad/dirty beach. They're all recent. British colonial is booked on my day.
