  1. We have a confirmed booking departing Rome on 13th October doing the below itinerary:

This booking is no longer showing on our account and the cruise is no longer available on the NCL website. We have had absolutely zero communication from NCL even though they have our Haven deposit! Does anybody know what is going on?

    Thanks

  2. Hi,

We have just booked an SF suite on Spirit for the Canaries cruise in January. This will be our first NCL cruise (apart from 2 nights on Jade in 2008) and are just looking for some more information about the cabin as I have been unable to find a lot of information online:

    - is there's television in both the bedroom and lounge area?

    - are they modern flat screen TVs that you could plug a laptop in to?

    - is there a coffee machine in the cabin?

    - is there room for a cot in the bedroom area so we can put a 7 month old down and then watch TV in they lounge area?

If anybody has any recent photos of these cabins they would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mark

  3. Hi,

We are thinking of booking a cruise on the Meraviglia in January when our daughter will be 7 months old.

We are trying to decide between a Yacht Club Deluxe Suite and Duplex Suite as they are the same price. Looking at the cabin layouts I am trying to work out where the cot will be able to go. As anybody been in either of these cabins with a cot and can you offer any advice?

Being the same price do the Yacht Club benefits warrant going for a much smaller cabin or are we better with the bigger cabin?

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

  4. Can you tell from the deck plans

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-ships/independence-of-the-seas/deck-plans/1836/11

The stairs/lifts are in the same place on deck 11 & 10 so see the pools on 11 and measure where the pools are then measure to the suites on deck 10?

I tried that but it didn't seem to tie up with the little bit of information I've been able to find on here. I found one post that suggested 1564 was underneath the whirlpool but comparing the deck plans this is at least 2 cabins further down.

  5. We have just got off Constellation and found the wi-fi to be barely good enough to check email, certainly not good enough for Skype. Not sure what happened to Xcelerate but this was reminiscent of cruise ship internet from a decade ago!

  6. We are making every effort to fully accommodate our guests during this unfortunate delay and to provide compensation for any discomfort or inconvenience this has caused.

We recognize that many have planned this cruise to attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco. Our One Touch Team will ensure they are still able to enjoy this historic racing event without interruption – all necessary flights and transfers have been arranged.

While in Barcelona, our staff have planned activities and tours to make the most of their stay.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate situation. Nothing is more important to us than the quality and enjoyment of our guests’vacation.

We have still not heard any information about plans to get us to the formula 1. Leaving it a bit late for people to make the necessary arrangements if expected to be on a flight first thing in the morning.

As for planned activities we have not seen a Celebrity member of staff since we left the port on a coach over 6 hours ago.

  7. That stinks! Hopefully Celebrity will handle logistics and compensation properly for these guests. And likewise, hopefully the inconvienced travelers can "embrace their new adventure" rather than dwelling on a "ruined" cruise.

Hope everyone has a wonderful time.

So far logistics have been appalling. First notice was a vague email late last night, only 12 hours before boarding. No details or instructions were provided, just an international number to call. Which we did but the person at the other end had no idea what was going on.

Just about to board a flight now and we have no idea what to do or where to go when we land. Absolute chaos.

Unfortunately if we don't make it to the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend the cruise will be ruined, it is the only reason we booked this cruise. Will be a waste of money and holiday time.

Things might get better when we land but I won't hold my breath!

  8. So in this case, if you can survive without the balcony, the price comparison is next to nothing. We "shop" cruises all the time and lately we've found the price gap narrowing between =X= and the luxury lines, where you'll never see a surcharge for a specialty burger!

Completely agree with this, which is why we have booked Oceania for next April (and that's a balcony cabin for the same price =X= were offering)

  9. My February cruise with X will cost more than the last one we took with Windstar. Mind you, small ship is not for everybody, its lacks activities and venues and the last time we were aboard, did not have "Gourmet" burger. :D

Our 2 weeks in a veranda on X in September have cost the same price per person per day as the 3 weeks we have booked on Oceania in a concierge veranda next April.

When the prices are the same there is no contest and X will lose our business.

  10. I love having a basic, tasty, free BBQ burger for lunch on ships! I really hope they will keep some free burgers because paying the same price for a burger I could buy at home that should be free onboard is not cool to me.

Exactly, $10 for a burger by the pool is not cool when you have already paid a $2000 cover charge!

  11. From the press release it seems that even sky suites will get some type of upgrade.

"Every Penthouse and Royal Suite will get updated with new powder room refreshes, including porcelain tiled floors, new glimmering fixtures, marble surfaces, and cozy seats. The rest of the suite areas will get refreshed furnishings like plush furniture, new artwork, luxurious carpeting, drapes, and bed linens – promising guests the most comfortable, relaxing modern luxury experience."

I hope you're right. I read "The rest of the suite areas" to mean the rest of the areas in Penthouse and Royal suites, I.e. not the bathrooms.

  12. All of those items are now on the Summit. The Burger bar was pretty good. The rooftop terrace is nice. They did show some nighttime movies but the seating is limited.

Just my option but I think some nice padded lounge chairs with tables would've better than the large bulky limited seating furniture they are using. Really more like a sectional sofa.

Don't think the new burger bar can be on Summit as the press release says:

"we are launching an entirely new culinary experience, Top Deck Burger Bar"

It's a brand new venue, so not on any other ship. It's is probably still the Mast Grill on Summit.

It's almost guaranteed to be another 'speciality' restaurant.

  13.

    That's disappointing.

The tatty Sky Suites are still going to be tatty on 26th May. Also doesn't say how much they are going to charge for burgers from the new poolside grill (can't imagine they are going to be free anymore, Celebrity doesn't miss an opportunity to charge for something).

  14. I heard from my travel agent over the weekend that there was a press conference planned for tomorrow to announce the details of the drydock.

Just heard from her again this morning, the press conference has now been moved to Monday 8th May.

Seems to be a little late in the day to be finalising the plans, making me nervous being on the 26th May sailing!
