We cruise 12/26 and just got our booster shots 10 days pre-cruise. Glad to see they only suggest booster at least 7 days pre-cruise.

I sail 12/31 and cancelled my booster for today because I booked J&J and decided against it yesterday.  I’ll try tomorrow to find Moderna.  I was so afraid they were going to hold me to 14 days even though I got my original J&J vaccine back in March.

Can I jump in and ask a similar question?

What if you are carrying your own luggage on and not giving it to the porter? Does it still have to be on your carry on or is everything your carry on?

You do want to pack it so that it’s easy accessible.  They most likely will want to inspect it.  Opening a big suitcase could be cumbersome when going thru security.

  3. Hi all!  I have a quick question.  I’m traveling with my parents this time.  My dad’s first cruise.  We start checking in on Friday and I want to select a boarding time after most of the crowd is already on board.  We have an early sail away time of 3:30 pm.  Is 12:30-1:00 still really busy in terminal?  Would 1:00-1:30 be better?  I’m not expecting to just get there and waltz on board, I just don’t want them to feel overwhelmed.

  4. My dad will be wearing shorts. He originally was going to bring a pair of his work pants but unless we are able to get in their apartment by Thursday (flooded due to Hurricane Harvey). We only bought him replacement shorts because of end of season sales they were cheap. They are dress shorts. He's not a fancy dinner person. If we left it to him, he would eat O'Sheehan's.

  5. JROBTX, I'm hoping all will be well for you and your family in Houston. My Son-in-law Tom was deployed with his Coast Guard Unit to Texas this morning. Having experienced Super Storm Sandy, I wish only the best for you!

Thank you Luckynana. I welcome your son-in-law Tom. I think the locals could use a break. So much to do.

  6. So I've booked me and my parents on this excursion on the Escape. I read the description to my parents and they understood they might get dropped off in shallow water and have to walk to shore. They are physically capable of doing this. We bought them water shoes.

Enter Hurricane Harvey. They had to be rescued via boat from their flooded apartment. When things calmed down and they decided to still go on the cruise, I off the cuff, said that their rescue boat ride was just practice for the excursion. My dad laughed but the look on my mom face was just devastating. Talk about inserting foot into mouth.

I've followed the webcam at Soggy Dollar and I don't think the distance is too much for them. But I really don't want to put my mom in a panic attack situation so close to what she's been going through. They are not expected the flood waters to recede before we leave.

All this to say is the boat to shore transfer that bad? Should I try and do it on our own?

  7. I just have insurance with NCL. We are from the Houston area. When my parents started getting water in their apartment this week and later had to be rescued by boat. Not expected to get back in for a few weeks. I called the insurance company to see my options. It seems like they will be covered under " unlivable household" but they made it sound like it would be the biggest pain in the rear to claim. And they weren't 100% sure the claim would be approved. NCL did tell me if it wasn't covered to call them back and we could get 75% on future cruise.

    So I sympathize with you.

To my surprise, my parents still want to go. However, if by Thurs or Friday it looks like it's coming anywhere near Miami, I will cancel.
