BBQ lover, that's how we scored our awesome discount. Dandee, we fly out tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting you one board in a few weeks!
-
For what it's worth... we booked 7 day Tahiti cruise over a year before our sailing date. Got a great price with a discount for Canadian customers (dollar value sucks!). A few months ago there was a flash sale and we were reduced almost 50% again. So I'd say best prices come in Jan/feb for our dates and destination. Three weeks from embarking. Wahoo!

Onboard the blue lagoon cruise in Fiji's yasawa islands, we were instructed never to jump off the ship unless it was tied to a coconut tree (insert laughter). Low and behold, one morning we WERE tethered to a coconut tree on a private island SPLASH, in I jumped and swam to shore. But this was off the platform, not off any decks or balconies!

We are doing the windstar cruise July 20 and have booked OWB at the Sofitel for two nights following. I don't think we can go wrong either way!
Could someone please advise me of which resort to stay at for two days after the eindstsr cruise in Tahiti? The Hilton or Sofitel? -
I've seen both travel cushions... how did you find them? Worth purchasing? thanks, kathy
Jill' date=' I bought the J Pillow from the UK and also the Therm A Rest Cushion. I've not used either since we don't leave until Monday night. But I have tried them both out here at home. I'm hoping that it will help make that "red eye" flight to Tahiti more comfortable.[/quote'] -
Hi Daniel, this is our alternate plan for raiatea too. Have you booked? No further details on the hiking trail for Sunday?
Kathy
HI Ottawa :-)We are going probably for the Kayak Tour at Faaroa with http://www.raiatea-activites.com/en/activities/kayak/ (already contacted the owner)
Trying to decide if we are doing the full-day tour with them which includes the Marae Taputapuatea
Cheers,
Daniel

Thanks for asking this, Dandee2. It was on our to-do list but I found the same info in my research.

We will be on the windspirit July 20, docking at raiatea on Sunday, the 23rd. What are the island options? I know there is a town to explore, but we weren't planning on an excursion that day. I have heard of the mount tapioi hiking trail, but it seems the trail is closed on weekends? Is this the day we should plan on enjoying the ship?

We are incorporating a few weeks in Brisbane before Tahiti, so it's going to be nasty airfare!
It is our first windstar cruise. We are usually "toes in the sand", resort vacationers. We are still researching our excursions for a few of the islands. Is there anything you wished you had known about when you did your first windstar cruise? I'm happy to hear all of your advice and suggestions!

Also on the July 20th Sailing :-)
Hurray for Canadians. We're near Ottawa.
Cheers!
We are in Ottawa! Small world. Can I ask if you have your flights yet? We are booking with our TA so we can extend the trip on both ends. The prices are ridiculous right now!

We are on the July 20 sailing. Was there an opportunity to go ashore with the chef to any local markets? We've seen this option in Europe itineraries and are hoping for this at one of the Tahitian islands.
-
Seaborne gypsy, I'd love to hear your recommendations on excursions. We are going on windspirit July 20 next year.

Bula! Likuliku is an amazing experience, but you need to helicopter or ferry to the island, adding to the cost and time. The other resort we stayed at, on the main island was the Warwick. Also highly recommended, but nowhere near the same scale (or price!) as likuliku.

Awesome, thanks! :)

Texasstar, can you elaborate more about your excursions? What you did, who you booked with, etc? I'm also curious about what might be the best days to stay on board and enjoy what the ship has to offer. I'd love to hear more details.
Ps, also curious about two private motu events? I thought there was just the one in BB?

We are booked for July 20 2017 to Tahiti. We will be eagerly waiting for your review of the hotel and the island. We were thinking of pre-cruise in Moorea, post cruise in Papeete. Any and all suggestions are welcome!
-
Latin Girl, how amazing was your cruise? We are booked to go in July 2107 and are looking at the excursions. What did you end up doing?

WanderingDust, we just booked the 7 day Tahiti cruise for July, via a travel agent. The website price was a great deal, however our agent was able to reduce the price by almost a third from the web price (!!) and we just learned about another bonus deal offered to us! Use an agent (as long as there are little to no booking fees). Who knows if the price would have been the same had we called Windstar directly, but it is always nice to have a professional in your corner, if some goes sideways while on your trip. Congratulations on your milestones - we are so crazy excited for our cruise too!
Tahiti - All-aboard time ??

All aboard time is 1pm, but departure time is 6pm. I found this in the "sailing guide". Looks like 5pm is the last chance to be on board :
Embarkation time is generally 1:00 p.m. (time may vary, depending on itinerary, check your cruise documents for exactembarkation time). All guests should be on board no later than 1hour before departure.
