  1. Hello Ludicrous_Speed,

I’m really enjoying your food/ photos review.

I will be on the Getaway in September. I will be in the Haven, but plan to eat in the MDR’s occasionally. What is the white sauce on the lobster roll. Have wanted to try one on my last three NCL cruises, but never got around to it.

Looking  forward to reading about your last few days of eating 😳

    Thanks, Brian

  2. Hello Lyn,

You look absolutely adorable, even your nails hahaha

    Stupid Ex!!!😀

I’m enjoying your fun, informative review.

I have been on 27 cruises, on which 24 I have traveled solo. I love it, being to do what I want, when I want and hot having to wait on someone else.

I have never felt uncomfortable. Other passengers seem to be befuddled when they fine out I’m traveling solo??

It sounds like you had a blast..so happy for you.

    Congratulations on your casino win!!!

Have you booked your next solo cruise yet??? Hahaha

    Brian

  3. Hello John1fan,

Go to Norwegian’s website. In upper right corner click on the horizontal dashes. Scroll down to Specials, click on that and scroll down to solo cruisers.

There are usually about 10 cruises listed with varying dates, with discounted prices for solo cruisers.

I sail solo often. I’m sailing on the Dawn September 7th to Bermuda. The single supplement is waived. I’m in a Aft PH Suite for $4,800 after 3 price drops. I’m booked on the Breakaway September 2019 in a Foward Facing Haven Suite. The single supplement is waived for that cruise too. Hope you find a GREAT deal!!

  4. Hello Realnurse2,

NCL does waive the SS in some instances. I booked an AFT PH suite on the Dawn for a September 2018 sailing. The original price was about $12,000 for 2 passengers. The SS was waived, and the base price came out less than half of the $12,000. The price has dropped twice since I booked. I received a CC credit for the first one..before final payment was due. The second one was after final payment. I received an additional OBC for that price drop

You can go on to NCL’s website, click on the horizontal bars in the upper left corner. Scroll down to Specials, scroll down to solo cruising. There are usually about 10 cruises listed with various dates that the SS is waived.

  5. It doesn't help much with pre-cruise meal planning, but you can ask your butler for copies of the week's menus. Then you can ask the concierge to switch reservations for you if you have already made plans for that evening.

    Thank you Daisy...excellent idea!!

  6. Brian, I wish I could help you on the MDR issue but we only ate dinner there one night. Between our dinning package, the Asian restaurant and being platinum plus we had specialty dining most of the time. We did have prime rib the last night. It was good, cut thicker than some will tell you, but it wasn't the best in the world. The breakfast menu has a couple of different items each day which we enjoyed. We ate breakfast in the MDR 5 mornings I think. Some of the choices were really good. Skip ham, it is almost just like luncheon meat ham, not worth the extra calories. Of course I am not a lover of processed foods of any kind, specially lunch meats. One think a lot of people do not realize is: O'Sheehan's has a breakfast. It isn't huge or fancy but a good place to go for a quick, simple breakfast.

    Thank you NewMexicoNita,

I have a 3 night dining package too.

It came with the Aft PH I booked.

Was wanting to look at MDR menus, to plan what night to make reservations for the Speciality Restuarants. I really like O’Sheehans for breakfast too.

I get to eat in Moderno for breakfast ( Suite Perk), but will try it at least once.

and the MDR, if the opening hours are more convenient for me.I’m not a “ ham” person either.. thanks for the heads up on that.🐖🐖

    Looking forward to your review.

    Thanks again for your reply!!

    Brian

  7. Hello New Mexico Nita,

I’m looking forward to reading your review. I will be on The Dawn September 7th for a Boston to Bermuda cruise.

Did you take photos of the main dining room menus?

Menus posted online are about 3 years old.

If no photos, can you write about some of your favorite items in the MDR

    Brian

  8. Hello Kgtgirl,

Thank you for your review on your Bodton -Bermuda cruise on The Dawn!!!

I will be on The Dawn September 7th 2018.

I have an Aft PH Balcony booked.

Thanks for explaining the “ Suite Perks”

I agree the snacks the Butler leaves in the cabin are hit or miss.

I’m going to ask for PB&J and BLT sandwiches..hopefully they are fresh 😳 and desserts and m and m’s and a pitcher of ice tea left daily if available.

This will be my second time to Bermuda, but the first out of Boston and on The Dawn

Did you happen to take any MDR menu photos or food photos??

    Thanks!!! Brian

  9. Hello WeLoveToCruise,

When you go to NCL’s website, click on the “ bars” in the upper left corner.

    Scroll down to Specials.

There is a “ solo” category.

There are usually 4 or five cruises listed where the SS has been waived

I have seen some really good deals listed. I have booked two from those listed in the last two years.

    Check it out.

    Brian

  10. Hello Igonquin,I was on the Breakaway in September 2017,cabin 8714.

My balcony had two loungers with a small table and a medium size table with two chairs to eat at. It was plenty big to fit another lounger or chairs for sitting at to eat.It was partially covered and partially open. You can have sun or shade. I was three cabins from the front. A little bit of a maze to walk through to get to, but close to The Brewhouse and Food Republic that you can cut through to get to cabin. Super happy with my choice...Mini Suite wWith Large Balcony

    Brian

    Follow question:

Since these are larger (deeper), do they have a lounger(s)?

  11. Thank you Beachiekeen, for your wonderful review and great photos. I will be on the Dawn out of Boston to Bermuda Sept. 7th. First time on he Dawn, second time to Bermuda. I was on The Breakaway 1 1/2 years ago out of NY to Bermuda. I’m looking forward to going back!! I will be checking into The Gems tour, once excursions are listed on the NCL website.

Soooo Happy I found and read your review..

    Brian

  12. Hi, Brian. Thank you for your kind words for my father. He appreciates the sentiment.

I would love to actually live in the city. How awesome for you. We spend a couple of nights downtown every 5 years or so but otherwise just Metra in and out for daycations. Nothing wrong with escaping the lake effect snow in late January for a few days!

We had such a good time and I hope you do as well. I was very worried with the terrible sailing conditions the first night, and dad was having some mobility pain, that they would hate this cruise. But in the end they greatly enjoyed it and learned tons about what would work best for them if they sail again, which seems more likely than not.

If you have any specific questions not covered in the short summary review, let me know and I will help if I can.

    Hello KMOMCHICAGO ,

I have soooo enjoyed reading your review. Thanks for taking time from the fun to post.

If I have questions as my cruise gets closer, I will contact you. You answered several for me😳

    Take Care, Brian

  13. I have not cruised with Carnival in about 7 years, but have 5 booked for 2018, and 2 for 2019. I booked with NCL for last 10 years. I have recently learned of the prospect of only having my cabin serviced once a day. I will opt for evening turndown, as some mornings I like to sleep in. I prepay my gratitities and leave $5.00 for the cabin steward daily. I'm thinking with once daily cabin cleaning and leaving my tips as before, I would tipping the cabin steward 3 times per day. I will keep my pp gratituties in place, and keep the $5.00 a day tip in my wallet. This will save me a few bucks!!
