Review cruisedeckplans on any of the Q class ships for linked JS Youtube videos.

Thanks! Yea I've checked them out, and the videos there were the ones that led be to wonder if there was a privacy curtain in the JS category (there has been on the non Q ships I've been on). But in many of the walk throughs, there wasn't a privacy curtain visible, so I was hoping to hear from someone who has been in one of those rooms whether there was one or not and the location of it.

  2. Hi- having trouble finding walk throughs of the different categories of JS on the Quantum Class ships. We'll be traveling with our then 2 year old and are curious where the dividing curtain is on the J3 or J4 and the J1 (JS with large balcony). Our ideal is that it separates the "living space" where the toddler would sleep from the bed/bathroom, so we can watch tv/use the bathroom/go in and out of the cabin without disturbing the hopefully sleeping kid.

The J1 looks like it actually separates the bed from the rest of the cabin (not ideal) but that was based on one blurry picture I found. I also saw some stock photos of the J3/J4 that looked like there wasn't a dividing curtain at all.

Would love to hear from anyone who has been in the cabins and remembers the configuration and dividing curtain location.

  3. Thank you! And congratulations to you, as well—hope you have a great cruise!

Thanks also for the detailed information. It definitely puts my mind at ease that I can get a cruise booked earlier than 30 days out! If I could get then get a price adjustment if there is another kids sail free promotion, that would be fantastic.

Another question I just thought of, do you know if the certificate can be applied to sailings less than 7 nights? There are a few 5 night itineraries that have caught my eye...

    Thanks again!

I believe so- we considered 6 and 8 night itineraries (and briefly had the 8 night booked). I think at that point they just apply the $1250 to the cost of the cruise.

  4. Hi! Congratulations!

We actually are leaving on our "free" bingo cruise in a week.

If you're a frequent cruiser or very independent and like to be in control of your booking process, the process of booking your "free" cruise can be pretty arduous. You have to fill out the certificate you received after winning (don't forget to include contact information... even if it doesn't ask for it!).

You will then be contacted by someone from the Comp Cruises department (likely Ida... I must have called them a dozen times and I only ever spoke with Ida). She will tell you what the prices are for upgrading to add additional people, balcony v. outside, etc. The cost is always at the cost when she's working to book it for you. So it's hard to time it to take advantage of sales, but you can call back and have her rebook you to take advantage of a lower price/room change/sailing change etc. No one at RCI can help you with this but the Comp Cruise department (so frustrating). If you want to run through a few different sailings/scenarios just prepare for a decently long call.

The kids sale free thing SHOULD work, though I don't know first hand. But you'd have to either book during that promotion or re-book when that promotion arises.

If you send in the certificate tomorrow you should hear from them in the next two weeks or so and will be able to book your sailing.

You have to mail in the certificate to start your process. Once you do that they will reach out to you. If you have other questions you can send them an email (compcruises@rccl.com) though responses can be SLOW, or call them (954-628-9325 selection #2).

Also in case you care about CAS points- as long as you pay PART of the cruise fare (not the taxes, fees, or gratuities, but the fare itself) you will get CAS points. Since you're traveling with 4 people I'm sure that won't be an issue.

  5. I’m curious how you went about booking your cruise. We also won a bingo cruise and have emailed the comp cruise department to book but haven’t heard back. Did you book directly through them? Thanks!

You have to actually mail in the certificate you won, but don't forget to write your contact info on the cert and your crown and anchor number. It sounds obvious but there isn't a place for it... and I may have forgotten.

Once you mail in the cert someone from Comp Cruises will contact you in a week or two. It was a really frustrating process. I was used to having flexibility and control over my bookings by doing them online. With Comp Cruises you're dealing with having a person book for you and they aren't really clear on how the certs work, they have apparently revamped the program and the people in Comp Cruises don't necessarily know/understand all the details.

    A few things I learned:

    1) You will get Crown and Anchor Points.

    2) You can make changes to your booking once it's been made but those changes still need to be made through the Comp Cruises department, and will still be subject to the limits of the cert (i.e. cruise must be 1 year from when you won). It's frustrating and the only way to contact them is their email address... even the C&A can't help.

    3) You need to pay your $500 deposit to confirm your booking (or whatever difference there may be between the cert value and the cost of your cruise).

  6. Hi all! I have asked about a dozen people at Royal Caribbean and I have gotten a dozen different answers, so I thought I'd come to the experts :)

I won a "free" cruise playing BINGO on my Alaska cruise in May. Apparently this was right around when RCI changed the program to not be a free cruise (previously limited to an inside cabin on a 7 night or less Caribbean sailing), to be essentially a gift certificate to be used towards any cruise of your choosing (though must be used within a year). We have to pay the difference of anything beyond that amount (totally fine!) based on our cruise/category choices and taxes/fees/gratuities.

My question is- the certificate says NOTHING about whether you can earn Crown and Anchor points and everyone I've spoken to at C&A and with Comp Cruises gives me a different answer. There seems to be a lot of confusion because the old program didn't, which sort of made sense because you weren't paying for it. None of the fine print says anything and I've had people adamantly tell me will earn points and others adamantly tell me we won't. It also says nothing about combining it with other programs, and our current booking combined easily with the current "sale" and OBC offerings.

The reason I ask is because we're looking at booking a JS, which we'll forego unless we get the C&A points (as we try to tier climb before they change the levels again, we care way more about the points than the size of the room). We're stoked to win, we just don't see the need to pay extra unless we're getting the cruise nights. If not, we'll happily sail in an inside room.

    So my questions are:

    1) Has anyone booked and taken a cruise under the NEW comp cruise program and did you earn C&A points? Or any anecdotal stories you avid cruisers may have.

    2) Does anyone have a good contact email for either someone high up in C&A or with oversight of Comp Cruises that can give me an actual definitive answer? My attempts to move up the "supervisor" ladder haven't been too successful.

  7. I can help you. I am on the next sailing of the Legend which is in October. I live in Melbourne, Australia. If you get a closer to home offer take it as postage from Australia would make it more expensive. Otherwise let me know if you still want it in early October.

That would be amazing! When October gets closer I'll send you a message to arrange it. Thank you!!!

  8. I have a big favor to ask someone sailing on Legend in the next few months.

My husband and I collect magnets from every city we've travelled to, including from the cruise ships we've sailed on. (Hey they are essentially floating cities!)

Two years ago (my then boyfriend's first cruise) we were on Legend in the Med but forgot to buy a magnet. We figured we'd get back to sail on Legend at some point, but now with the announcement of the sale we won't make it in time. It's the only hole in our collection so we would really like to fill it!

I'm hoping someone sailing in the next few months can purchase and mail us a magnet (like the Majesty one in the photo below). We'll obviously cover the cost of the magnet and shipping, and send much good karma your way! We live in Los Angeles.

We tried to contact RCI and asking to buy one directly from them, but they said the only way to get a ship specific magnet was on the ship. :(

  9. We booked 3 cabins on Friday night for a family trip. I signed on this morning and checked our prices after the new sale. For about an hour this morning, all 3 of our cabins showed a price drop of between 250 and 350 dollars.

I wrote these down, and screen shotted them. Unfortunately, by the time my lunch break came around and I had time to call about the price drop, the prices were different and MORE expensive than I paid on Friday night.

Of course the rep on the phone knew nothing and could only see the higher prices.

Anyone else had this happen before? She said there was "no way" it could have been lower for only an hour or so.

You were right. Same thing happened to ours, but we managed to adjust our fare when the "mistake" was still on the website. We saved $400 and had two friends book under the mistake fare as well. Another friend tried to book literally 4 hours later and her trip would have been almost $600 more expensive than ours was AND it didn't include gratuities. Our travel agent fought with RC for over an hour since she had just booked two fares at the previous rate but had no luck.

So moral victory for you, but unfortunately it doesn't translate to the lower rate :(
