  1. Just found out today American Airlines moved our return flight in April from 1:40 to 7:40pm.

As we are travelling with family that has a ten month old hanging out at the airport or taking a tour after we leave the ship is not an option.  Anyone know of hotels that give a day rate ie 8am to 6pm?

  2. Hi all we have been jumping between Celebrity and Princess the past few years and loving both lines.  When cruising resumes we would like to try out one of Princess’ newer ships.  Previously we have tried to book the end mini suite on Emerald deck which has a huge balcony and is partially covered.  Hoping someone can tell us if the Enchanted Princess has such a balcony?  We are looking at E727 - last cabin before back ones.  Thanks so much!!

  3. Our first overseas cruise - my parents met up with us in Belfast - where I was born before coming to Canada- it was my birthday.  Drove by our old home and went to Bangor / our old holiday spot and where my folks were staying.  Had fish and chips / of course!  After an awesome unbelievable day with them and Tearful  goodbyes back on the Grand to the amazing crew who treated us like family.

off to Vines where  we had Jack and Andrew serving us the best wines ever...

lifetime memories and the crew was such an amazing part of it!

Almost forgot to mention the most amazing Raffi - he went to his cabin on his break and made me a bunch of paper flowers to celebrate my special day!!  The crew on that ship were truly amazing!!!!!!

  4. We left from Southampton two years ago and booked the Premiere Inn in Southampton for four nights pre-cruise - through Expedia. Very simple hotel but clean - rooms small but we didn't mind. We really enjoyed the little bar they had there and had drinks and appetizers a few nights. The cab ride to the port took about five minutes - all very easy. We flew into Gatwick from Toronto and took a bus (about 2 hours) from the airport to Southampton. The bus left us at the bus station and we couldn't get a cab to stop for us - think it was our luggage - we ended up walking to the hotel - only about ten minutes. We booked our bus tickets before leaving home - can't remember the bus company but I'm sure you could google it.

Southampton is a lovely town and you will not regret staying there.

    Hope this helps!

  5. Hello! I am hoping I have posted this in the correct area - if not please let me know and I will resubmit.

We are off on the Grand Princess April 14 from San Francisco for 15 nights with one night pre-cruise at Parc 55. When we return we are spending four nights at the Argonaut Hotel Fisherman's Wharf area.

We have a few questions we are hoping some more experienced West Coast travellers/residents will help us with. Many thanks!

    1. I have been looking at a Hop on / Hop off bus that also included Alcatraz - a must for my husband - there is a one day and a two day pass. Your thoughts - one day enough or two day? We aren't super big tourist people but do like to see the different areas and were thinking this would be a good way to do that.

Also is it necessary to pre-book?

    2. Sonoma/Napa - we love wine and have spent a lot of time touring the Niagara wine areas and are wondering if we should spend a day doing the Sonoma/Napa area? Don't really like the idea of being on a bus for a day but it seems the best way to see that area. Again, is there any advantage in pre-booking?

    3. Any other suggestions? We mostly want to walk about and enjoy the sights but are open to any suggestions.

    Again, our thanks!!!

  6. Hello again. We took the Princess excursion - not something we have done in the past but St. Andrew's was quite a distance from the ship and we aren't that adventurous with public transportation.... You get tendered from ship to port there which adds to the time as well. When you get dropped off at the course Tom Morris store is steps away - we had fun shopping there and talking to the manager - very friendly. If you could get this excursion in the morning you could probably get back and take the bus to Edinburgh in the afternoon. We had planned to go there in the morning before boarding the bus but overslept and it wouldn't have worked for us. Later we were chatting with others that had gone into Edinburgh and they said they were sorry they went as it was raining all day and not a great time walking outside in the rain.

This is a great cruise, our best to date, you will love it! If you are leaving from Southampton and staying pre or post cruise its a lovely town and lots to see. Enjoy it all!!!!

  7. Hi, assuming you are docking in South Queensferry as we did - its a long bus ride to St. Andrew's and back. We had a great guide and he pointed out interesting spots along the way. We were let off right at the golf course and stood there in awe!!! We walked a couple of blocks into the very nice town and hung out there after going around the shops at the course. I think our entire trip was from 2pm - 6pm which really didn't give us much time in St. Andrew's - I think about 1.5 hours. Overall we were both so happy we took this excursion and felt it was well worth the money.

  8. Hello! Arriving in Hawaii on the Grand on the April 14th sailing and looking for some information from more experienced Hawaiian travellers. We would like to know if there will be cabs at the port looking to take passengers on short island tours? We have been on many Caribbean voyages and we have always been able to do this there - but I've been reading that the ports in Hawaii are a bit different. We aren't interested in a formal 6-8 hour tour - aren't history buffs - but do like to see the sights and spend time with the locals as well as checking out the beaches. Wondering if we can just wing it and wait until we arrive to arrange a cab for a few hours or if we need to pre-book something now? Any tips/advice is appreciated!

  9. To answer an earlier question on my original post - we have the same last name and use the same cc. Just a fluke I'm sure but it pays to check - and check. I look on the tv monitor every day or so and it was as we were leaving the last morning I checked to make sure we were zeroed out and discovered the issue. This obc was non-refundable so we would have lost the $150 and had to pay the $178 that I was over.
