I will be traveling on NCL this summer and am debating between a few Juneau excursions. Has anyone tried the Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe or the Sea Kayak Adventure. Both seem to be in the same area, but it’s looking like the canoe gets you a bit closer to the glacier (probably because we are in one large canoe so the guide has control). I am open to other excursions if anyone has other recommendations, but am traveling with children. Not looking to book on my own at this port.

Great info, thanks everyone. From what I understand the Haven pool is covered, so swimmable even on the Alaska sailings. I was hoping to be able to put my son in a (dry) bathing suit and a shirt, and my daughter in a coverup/dress and not feel uncomfortable.

I don’t think we will be wearing shorts at night, as the forecast looks chilly, but my husband prefers jeans and a button down/golf shirt.  Based on your comments it looks like we should be ok. 

How formal do people normally dress for lunch/dinner in the haven restaurant on Alaskan sailings? Are bathing suit coverups appropriate at lunch? Jeans at dinner? We are assuming people generally step it down a bit in Alaska?

I’m considering a Galapagos cruise with children (7 and 10, both comfortable with snorkeling). What cruise line would you recommend that would be most accommodating to this age group? We will be sailing over North American winter break, and are hoping to have other children on board.

What has been your favourite item to get autographed by characters while cruising? Keeping in mind that my children are small, so I will be carrying it with me for both of them. A photo frame mat? A simple autograph book? I have a feeling that book will never get looked at again...thoughts? What worked well for you? What did you love?

My daughter likes to drink warm milk in the am and before bed. Can I order milk heated up from room service and from the buffet or the MDR? Is there a choice of milk fat (1%)?

I'm guessing she will only wear dresses at the princess party and on the formal and s formal nights... Now I'm not sure how many dresses should I be packing for a 7 day cruise? These things are massive!!! Are two enough? She can obviously re-wear them...assuming we have no food catastrophes at dinner.

Can any experienced cruisers with small princesses tell me what they do? We already own a ton of Disney dresses, so I really do not want to run out on the ship and have to purchase a marked up one.

Thanks everyone...looks like I will be packing some princess dresses (in a separate garment bag). I would have one VERY unhappy little girl if she showed up for dinner in a regular outfit and saw Elsas and Cinderellas everywhere.

I'm starting to pack for an upcoming trip on the Fantasy and am not sure what would be most appropriate for formal/ semi formal nights for my 3 year old daughter...princess dresses or traditional dresses. Is there a difference between the two nights?
