  1. It is only by coming to cruise critic that I have gotten educated that the cruises that I have enjoyed are really mass market, nickel and dime experiences, that have been poorly managed and organized, with lousy service and poor food.

I not only take CC comment with a grain of salt, but with an entire salt mine.

    Hear, Hear!

I spend a lot of $$ for my cruise vacations. I'm not going to walk on the ship looking for problems, and if problems

arise like they so often do in life, I work around them. My good time is my responsibility.

  2. Thank you for taking the time to respond Mike. I really am trying to avoid taking a cumbersome jacket, but I'm worried about being too cold as well.

  3. Hello everybody we are sailing on a September Alaska cruise. One of the shore excursions is a helicopter ride/Glacier walk. I am looking for a coat recommendation for the Glacier walk. Thanks in advance:D.

  4. My experience from having caught Noro on the Crown, is to call the medical center and report it, as one is required to do. Yes, I was quarantined, but I didn't need to be as I was so sick there was no way I could have left my cabin anyway. And by reporting it, if you take out the Princess insurance plan, I was able to recoup the cost of the time I was quarantined due to trip interruption.

Good information. I didn't know that being quarantined sickness was an option for insurance reimbursement.

  5. Yep. I know exactly what you mean. They get all giddy when I give them a refrigerator magnet with our hometown on it, or a rabbit foot key chain (I make them myself, four at a time!) or a framed photo of my wife and I. And my wife's home knitted ski masks are always a big hit. The wooden clogs that I make in my garage workshop are also a much appreciated gift.

They are so full of gratitude of these wonderful gifts that they are left speechless, with mouth agape in excitement. The response has been so overwhelming that I am seriously thinking of removing all tips and only giving them our homemade gifts next cruise. So many smiling faces, it beings tears of joy to my eyes.

:')lol! these "I gift candy and the crew really appreciate it" threads really kill me too.
