Life on the 'fringe' of Las Vegas is slowly returning to normal. Vaccines are rolling out at a faster pace than expected but everyone is still masking up and social distancing. As for Las Vegas proper, well - that's another story with more visitors showing up everyday and many from states where masks and social distancing is no longer required, often bringing the virus with them. I'm all for helping the economy, but please do it safely.
Like everyone else, we're anxious to cruise after missing out on 2 cruises already. We have a HAL cruise scheduled for Dec 12 on the new 'Rotterdam' and our 2nd COVID-19 shot is scheduled for tomorrow so we will be ready. Even having the shot is no guarantee, so we'll still play by the rules and hope everyone else does as well. Fingers crossed, we'll be at HMC soon.

Today I booked my Dec 2021 cruise to the Southern Caribbean on the ms Nieuw Rotterdam. Itinerary isn't on the website yet but will be shortly. I booked my cruise through the best cruise agent, Catherine Gau, directly at HAL after having to cancel my Nov 2021 cruise.

We used this service in Dec 2016 for our cruise to the Panama Canal. Best thing we ever did, along with using Bags VIP. With Bags VIP, you check your bags in at your home airport and Bags VIP will pick up your bags at the cruise destination airport and deliver them to the ship - no hassle, no lugging multiple bags from the airport to the hotel to ship. Then we used Luggage Direct to take the bags from the ship to the airport and we picked them up at our home airport. All we had to deal with was our carry-on bag. So much easier and less stressful - in fact, we've already arranged for the same process for our next cruise.

We were on this ship, and this cruise, in Dec 2016 and no passports were required to reboard after a day of ziplining or a quick trip to the shops. We just needed our room card.

What a wonderful idea! Thanks so much for sharing it with everyone.
Tipping question

We are sailing on the Rotterdam next week and have a question regarding Club Orange staff. We are wondering if Edgar is still the Maître D for breakfast and dinner. When we sailed in December on the Rotterdam, he mentioned that he was going home for a month in February but would be back in March. We have a special gift for him and will not take it if he has transferred to another ship, or did not sign another contract. I understand that Rini is still the hostess so many she knows.
Anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated if anyone sees this question before before Sunday, March 26th.
