I am glad I found this thread.

All the information I read says that my Tracfone will not work in Europe.

My hope is to find a pre-paid phone at the airport when I get to Frankfurt, DE that will work in Germany, Italy, and Greece. Is this realistic?

I am puzzled why an "on your own" excursion in Taormina costs 52$? Is it not possible to walk around the town from the docking place?

Our ship, the Journey, is in Amalfi on June 18. Can you recommend a way to get to Paestum from their? Please include description of any walk-hike involved. thanks!

Thanks - this is useful information. Perhaps Viking is the better choice if the excursions are comparable because they are free with Viking.

I am close to making a decision between Viking and Azamara for a Mediterranean or Greek Isles cruise for this summer. The advantage with Viking appears to be the free excursions, but only if they are good! Could anyone tell me how Viking excursions stack up against Azamara?

I am considering a Celestial Greek/Turkey Cruise. I am a non-smoker and wondering if smoking is allowed on balconies. Back when i was a smoker, I would have loved to sit on a balcony and have a smoke. Now I want to enjoy a balcony smoke-free. I have nothing against smokers. Or do they have a non-smoking section?
