I would check out http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.net there do private jeep tours that includes drinks and lunch, I booked them last year and had excellent service, our guide caterered to my mom that has knee problems and the personalised service cant be beat, so much better than the mass tours!

If you looking for affordable, check for hotels on the westbank much cheaper than the downtown side and only 10 to 15 mins from port, as far as parking check fulton garage only a couple blocks from port with a free shuttle and half the price of port parking!
-
There is no set time that they make checkin times available, my last cruise it popped up around 120 days, just keep checking it will show up!
-
Prepay using park port Canaveral, easy to find and shuttles are quick and friendly staff!
-
You can go online and do a mock booking and get an idea of how many cabins are left!

Sailed on the Magic last year, its a great ship with pleanty to do for everyone, your family will love it, sign the kids up for the kids club and go to the meet and greet the first night and get the club schedules for the week!

Here in TN fall break is usually first 2 weeks of October, that's when I cruise with my son, love the rates and the weather!
-
For my cruise in Oct it showed up around 160 days.

From past issuse I have read about if something happens and the ship has to be diverted to a different port, Carnival will shuttle you from your original port to where the ship is docked.

Park port Canaveral close to port right there on the island, can prepay online and its one less expense that you have to deal with at cruise time, I like to prepay as much as I can so I have less to deal with and can focus on enjoying my trip!

On the magic it eas on the tv for the entire curise so you could look ahead at plan which nights you wish to eat elsewhere.

For my cruise in October, I found it to be cheaper to park in Fulton garage and do my hotel for one night worked out cheaper than any of the packages deals I could find!

Took my 12 year old on our first cruise last year, I went over some ground rules about being on the ship and got the hub app on his phone so we could stay in contact with everyone in our group, I would give him 2 hour window to go play in the arcade or swim or whatever but he had to come find me so I could see him in person at each time point and he had to let me know if he changed his mind about what he was going to be doing so I knew where he was supposed to be, we never had a problem, this also depends on the maturity and trust level of your child, I have know other 12 year olds I would let out of my sight! Remember its vacation for all of you let your kids enjoy theirs also, it all a matter of trust and you know your kids best!

I played with this new booking system over the weekend, if you go to cruise details you can change your rate and pick the room you want, not a fan of this new system!

I'm sailing October 9, and no check-in times yet, I check weekly to see when they will add it!
Kids menu?
in Carnival Cruise Lines

My son was 12 on his first cruise and they never offered a kids menu(I think you might have to ask for one) which worked fine for us, if she doesn't like the appetizers she can ask for a fruit cup, my son got one every night!
