I know this is an old post, but I was debating between the Molli and Karl's as well and am wondering what you decided and how it worked out. Our kids are a bit older, 8 and 11. Thanks!

I ended up rented a car and went to Scherwin Castle and IGA park.  Scherwin town is pretty nice, but the Castle was under renovation and wasn't as stunning as the ones in France or St Petersburg.

  2. We have a full suite on Harmony for 07/07/18. And I can't book online yet (6 days out).

It will not be a problem because we will go there after boarding to have lunch (avoiding the windjammer). Will make reservations then.

That's odd. I had crown loft suite on Harmony in December 2016, and I will be a 1-bedroom suite on Anthem next month, both times I was able to book dinner at CK online. Maybe all slots that are opened for online reservation were taken? I usually book CK within the first week after dining reservation is opened, and I did notice that I was not able to change my time slot when it gets closer to the sailing date.

  3. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Reading the comments already made my mouth watering! I do have 2 young kids with me, but I'm sure I can find something for them to eat at any restaurants, so their liking isn't my concern. =P

My husband and I love lobsters, mussels, clams, scallops, oysters, basically any kind of shellfish. Really can't miss this opportunity to try out the best seafood in the area.

  4. Danish viking: Thank you very, very much for all the suggestions! :D I received my offers and they are about the same, give or take a little. Since I was contacted first by stroebyturist, I am considering using them. You are an excellent, helpful, kind person and I am grateful for your taking the time to help us travellers. What do you think of my choice? Have a wonderful day. :)

Do you mind sharing how much is the offer? We have 4 families travelling together, and I wonder if there is any options cheaper than taxi.

I was planning to take metro and bus 25, however based on an earlier post, it seems that we there is a chance that we might not be able to catch the bus. :(

  5. I have kids at age 2 and 4. From the Visit Copenhagen website, it says with the 24-hour bus ticket, each adult can take 2 kids of under age of12 for free. And I found that most places (except Tycho Brahe and Den Bla Planet) are free for my kids. So my question is, do I have to get City Pass or Copenhagen Card for them?

*Edit* Sorry, I should have done my research before posting. Found that City Pass let me take 2 kids under 12 for free, and Copenhagen Card let me take 2 kids under 10 for free

  6. There are surely LOTS of "internal rules" and decisions they make on the bid process. For example, if they only need to move ONE person from OV to Balcony... they are not going to send out hundreds of bids. Unless they want to. They can make whatever decisions work for them.

I would not try to figure out what they do, and never ever expect them to share what they do. It is their business.

Sorry, I don't understand why couldn't I comment what do I think would benefit the company the most (from pure revenue generation stand point). Of course they wouldn't tell me how they implement the program, that's confidentia, and I don't think those who answer the phone actually knows how it is implemented anyway. I just want to share the info I got from NCL agent to those who are interested in knowing.

IF I am the one who implement the program, I don't see why shouldn't I send out hundreds of bid offers for just 1 upgrade spot. For such a program, everything should be computerized, sending out more bid offers wouldn't cost them more, except more CPU and memory while calculating the optimal offer combinations to accept.

Having said that, for sailings that they can do very few upgrades (due to cabin availability), they might give priority to those who booked through NCL directly, so that there is an incentive for people to book through NCL directly instead of going through TA. For my sailing, all those who mentioned they got the bid offers are those who booked through NCL. (Again, this is a guess which I want to share with those who are interested in guessing how the program works to increase our chance of getting the bid offer and getting their offer accepted.)

  7. My Getaway cruise is 79 days out and yesterday, people who booked through NCL directly started receiving their bid upgrade offers. I booked with TA, and even though I confirmed with my TA that they didn't opt out from the program and some of their guests were able to bid and got upgraded, I didn't receive any email, and I didn't see any Upgrade Advantage Program banner when I log on to myNCL.

I called NCL, the lady told me that I have to complete the online checkin before they would offer me to bid. I told her that my friend completed the online checkin, but she didn't get the offer either. She then said NCL cap the number of offers, and that means they have reached the max number of bid they would accept.

I know that people got the bid offer without completing the online checkin, so she is wrong on that part for sure. However, I am not sure if she is wrong on the maximum number of bid offers NCL would send out. If I am NCL, I wouldn't limit the number of bid offers I send out, because the more people take part in the program, the higher chance they would get more money out of it.

  8. Don't pay attention to "Sold Out" per NCL. We sailed on 05/21 and the whole cruise was taken off their website which indicated that it was completely sold out, funny we received our upgrade from mini suite to 2bedroom haven three weeks prior to sailing.

Thanks for giving me some hope. I will just place my bid when time comes then. I called NCL, the agent said all Haven for 4 guests are gone, and fully paid ('coz it has passed the final payment date). There weren't any movement of the Haven availability for over a month, so I stopped checking it daily, and all of sudden 7 were gone in a week. :loudcry:

  9. Glad to hear that smoke isn't an issue. Perhaps this itinerary is so port intensive that the casino only opens late at night and on at sea days?

What time are the shows that don't need reservations? I am wondering what time should I make the dinner reservations so that I would be able to grab a seat at those shows after dinner.

  10. Thanks for answering my previous questions, and I have some more =P

    - Is the music very loud at the Dream Cirque show? Do you think it's suitable for a 2 year old? How's the food quality at the show?- How's the smoke from the casino? A lot of people complained about the *away ships because of the open to above staircase on deck 6-8. How's the smoke at the Shanghai Noodles Bar?
