  1. We love Moody Gardens. However, it isn't really close to the Strand (trolley) and the well known restaurants. You will need to use ride share, taxi or rental car to get to the attractions on the Sea Wall or The Strand. They do have the waterpark right at the hotel, for the kids, big or small. I don't know what time of year you're coming in. Check Google Maps and you will see just how far you are from things.

We also love Hilton and San Luis, but they are usually a lot more pricey.

We just started sailing out of Galveston again recently, so not sure of the hotels we used to stay at.

  2. We were like you and hated hauling the weight of the towels around. We found a company that sells the kind of beach towel that you might want. We bought 2 and loved them. They fold up so neatly and go in the front pocket of our fin bags. You might want to look at the "Tessalate" website. It's a company out of Australia. We are very happy with our purchase.

  3. We bought 2 for a cruise last spring. I debated whether to take my regular mask and snorkel. I wish I had. My husband liked his. I liked mine for about 5 minutes. Then I began to feel claustrophobic. I never felt like I could get a good deep breath. Leonard liked that he could attach the GoPro to his mask. However being on top of the water we got a lot of pictures that were neither above water or below water. And with the red filter on it was a pointless exercise. We eventually took the camera off the mask.

Some people swear by the full face, but I'm one of the minority that hated it. You just have to try it and see if it's for you. If you have a regular mask and snorkel I would take them, just in case.

  4. We have been snorkeling at 3 of the 4. We have never snorkeled at St Kitts. We have always gone with private excursions. The best snorkeling will be in St Lucia out by the Pitons. Do you want to just snorkel or lunch and beach day also? That would determine which tour to take. There is no where to snorkel just off the pier. Maybe Barbados but not sure.

Antigua - Eli's Eco tour, can highly recommend. We have used them before and are going to do so again in March.

St Lucia - Scuba Steve, if you just want to snorkel and get back. He caters to divers but will take some snorkelers if he has room. We have gone with him twice. Once he gets the divers in the water you are free to get in.

St Lucia - Spencer Ambrose. We just went with him this past year and had a great time. We did the beach break. It was an all day thing and we had a great time. He apparently now does a shorter trip that takes you out to Chas Ansenet. Which has wonderful snorkeling. You will definitely feel the thermoclines snorkeling in St Lucia.

Barabdos - Can highly recommend Calabazza and Silvermoon. They both go to the same place. Two stops, one with turtles and another one over an sunken boat/artificial reef.

I guess if I had to choose it would be St Lucia and Antigua. But neither can be walked or driven to.

  5. Just did it day before yesterday. It was not a problem. We were worried because they were a little late letting us off the ship. We have a group of 21 motorcycle riders on board and they didn't even start taking the bikes off the ship until late. We still got to the terminal and waited 15 minutes or so to leave for the catamaran. You will be fine.

  6. Y'all are bad, bad people. I love your photographs and you inspired me. So I subscribed to the Lr/Ps. So far so good. Bought 2 books with step by step help. Okay, it said to go buy an external hard drive. Off to the store I go and buy it. Started on the steps in the book. I need to start drinking by now. Some of it makes sense to me and some not so much. After six hours of trial and error I am now putting it aside for awhile. I think it would easier if I paid for a cruise for one of you if you would come and teach me how to use this stuff. I'm still laughing about it though so I guess all is not lost.

Just thought you guys should know that you're inspirational and a bad influence.

Keep posting those pictures so I don't give up and throw stuff out in the street.

  7. Thank you for all of your review and pictures and tips. We had decided to take the Alaska cruise but you really made us want to go.

Thanks for the info on where you got the clothing. I just have one question. Where did you get the bear had? For some reason I just love that hat. I definitely need to get one. I may only be able to wear it on that cruise but it just really tickled me.
