  1. Cruise terminal in Marseille is Leon Gourret (Porte 4). And just leave the terminal building out on the street. You can´t miss the green line. Anyway there´s only one way to go.

    steamboats

Yes, all good in the end.

That green line was a god-send and saved me 36 euros !! ;p

  2. Which shows do you think should not be missed??

Sent from my iPad using Forums

1977 - great skating and athleticism, but storyline hard to follow though i guess it was along the lines of detectives chasing jewel thief to the 4 corners of the earth ?!!

Hiro - unbelievably good. Amazing feats

Hairspray - first time i've ever seen a production of this and thoroughly enjoyed. Feel good factor in abundance.

Flight - really wasn't fussed on this. Concept was ok but seemed thrown together. All back to front but guess that was done to facilitate the finale which was the best part.

  3. It's not a war but I do get testy when people represent their opinion as fact as though all of life is a cable news program.

We all make risk assessments and knowingly choose to break some laws, I doubt there is anyone who doesn't do this on a fairly regular basis. The important aspect is actually knowing the law and making an informed decision.

Agree totally - you have been most helpful Euro

  4. Really, the #64 is the only option that makes sense as it's the only one with a stop at the San Pietro station.

You'd get off at Ara Coeli/Piazza Venezia, from there to the Colosseum is about three-quarters of a mile.

    #64 map: http://viaggiacon.atac.roma.it/?service=trovalinea&linea=64&percorso=64R

Is there a reason you must use this station? You can get so much closer to the Colosseum if you stay on the train to Ostiense, then it's a quick two stop metro ride from there.

Hi there. Yes, the reason is its an organised excursion from port by train so this is the drop off point. I wonder if i can stay on the train to Ostiense ? ;)

  5. Hi,

I've researched the various ways of getting from A to B, but wondered what peoples experiences were ?

    Basic choices :-

    1. No. 64 bus and walk the remaining 10 mins, but i'm worried about the stories of pickpocketing on this particular route. Is it a case of just being vigilant ?

    2. Use of trains and metros, but i'm confused as to what to do !! Is there any step by step guidance on these boards as to steps to follow ? First time in Italy

What are peoples thoughts out of the 2 ?

    Many Thanks in advance

  6. That's plenty of time. There is a distinct ticket window for the Campania Express at Garibaldi so I would assume the same is true for Porta Nolana but I can't say for sure.

Just one more question if i may ?......

I guess i can decide which train type to catch back to Porto Nolana when we arrive back at Ercolano from the ruins. I presume we can purchase the return ticket there rather than having to make that decision on our outward journey?

Apologies if a stupid question but i like to get things nailed down as it were !!

    Many Thanks

  7. Regular Circumvesuviana tickets don't have a specific time, they are all open tickets.

There is no need to purchase the Campania Express tickets in advance, these trains run half empty.

You are so helpful euro cruiser !!:):)

I guess i can just buy at Porto Nolano station - do i have to look for a particular sign / kiosk ?. Gonna arrive around 8.30 for the 9.06. Hopefully that will give me enough time to queue ?

    Many Thanks

  8. Cheers guys,

    This has been most useful.

My thinking was to buy the Campania ticket to Sorrento in case we wanted to continue our journey after Herculaneum (is that allowed or is there a time limit ?). I was thinking that i could buy a return ticket as well but get on at Ercolana (using the more frequent Circumvesuvania) and return to Naples, should we decide not to carry on to Sorrento after all.

I know paying a bit more doing it this way but prefer the flexibilty.

Guess if i just stick to Ercolana i can get Campania there and Circumvesuviana as a return. Can the latter be an open ticket or would we have to name a time ?

If we buy these in advance can we just walk on with an e-mail voucher or do we have to exchange for proper tickets at the station (choosing Porto Nolano)

    May Thanks

  9. Yes, they do. Two different Circumvesuviana lines use this station (Naples-Sorrento and Naples-Poggiomarino) as well as the Campania Express.

Fabulous - do you know if i can buy a combined ticket allowing travel on both ?

  10. Hi,

Can somebody tell me if the Campania Express and the Circumvesuviana both serve the same Ercolani Scavi station ?

Also , can you buy a combined ticket so that you can go out on on one and return on the other (for timing purposes) ?

    Many Thanks

  11. We have been to Palma on 3 cruises this summer (Symphony, Jewel and Azamara) and the shuttle to take to town has left from close to the ship each time, shuttle tickets available for purchase just after exiting the ship, we did not have to walk to the terminal exit/entrance - 10 euros each round trip. If you are not taking the shuttle it can be quite a walk to the terminal exit depending which pier the ship docks at.

    Thanks Pencruise

    Appreciated

  12. The shuttle bus is run by Pompei Sightseeing. We took the bus in May to go to Herculeanium. It also went to Pompei. The cost of a round trip to Herculeanium was 15 Euros. Just walk through the parking lot and you should see it. When we arrived at Herculeanium, the bus driver asked us how long we wanted to stay and based on that told us what time they would pick us up. They were very prompt and efficient.

Did you have to book beforehand ?

  13. That is what my research shows! It is a 15min walk past a cathedral to get to the old port I believe. I'm just wondering whether to prebook Le Petit Train tickets online - it is only €8pp

Yes that is what i saw. Prob go with HOHO as more of a tour. Not sure whether to prebook - will have to look into it.

    Enjoy !
