  1. I've been looking at the MSC Yacht club, they look amazing. Far less expensive than the Haven and people are reporting that the service is out of this world. They're not stuffy, they were even offering to match NCL latitude status with theirs.

I booked next Christmas in the Divina yacht club. Much more reasonable and with the new 90 final payment coming out Jan 1 I get an extra 2 weeks with my money

  2. I am a widow of 10-1/2 months and am going to try a widows cruise. We are not singles (although technically we are) but we aren't looking for love. We are just looking for people like ourselves who understand what we're all going through. We all met on a facebook group for widows over 55 and a regular widows facebook group. We have a psychic Marisa Ryan giving group readings. I'm excited about it to meet people who understand and won't be saying oh get over it already. As it is most of us lose that family support after about 30 days and by 6 months no one wants to talk about your husband. I hope this will be good for us :o

  3. Are there any organised discussions about the recommended books or is it just left to the passengers. Any idea how long in advance they make their recommendations? Do they recommend fiction or is it all factual?

They do have a recommended reading list though. Without reading back to what your itinerary is - tell me and I can see if I already have that recommended list.

  4. Generally independent travel insurance has better coverage but it is usually based on age and price but the cruise line's is not age based. You have to look at the difference in policy limits to decide. Also, since you only made deposit on your cruise and did not actually pay for the non refundable insurance your pre existing conditions are not waived.

  5. I had an issue with this once before and the penalty was $100+ fine through the rental agency so I bought a transponder for $25 at publix, set up an account that when it goes below $20 it refills. I carry it with me when I travel and when I get the rental I go on my phone and put it the new license plate for the rental in the sunpass website and in seconds I'm ready to go. Since I find myself in South Florida so much I just don't want to worry if I'm getting penalized or not. The new transponders don't beep as said before.

  6. Since she's on the Gem it's not 'geared' to solos. That doesn't mean you won't find them. Like one of the posters said - go to your roll call and meet people. I'm sure you'll find someone to eat with and if not tell the maitre d that you don't want to eat alone. Wish I was going - I'd share meals with you.

  7. They offer free coffee, tea and water. I think they have free iced tea but don't quote me on that. They have free cookies, small desserts, pizza and mini mini croissant sandwiches. The sandwiches vary and sometimes they are egg salad, tuna salad, ham and cheese, cheese and turkey, etc. You get the picture. There is also the Seattle Best counter where they sell mochas, cappuchinos, lates, etc. and the Ben and Jerry counter where you can buy ice cream delights. Also there is a soda counter where you can buy soda or if you have the soda card get a soda or refill there.
