There are a few signs pointing the way once you pick up your luggage from the belts on the lower level. The rideshare pick-up area is located on the second level on Terminal C.

Only Terminal C? We come in to terminal B...is it far to get to terminal C?

We are on the Breakaway in 2 weeks and have a stop in San Juan. Was looking into getting a day pass for the Marriott for 60.00 per adult. Has anybody done this before and what are your thoughts? We are beach bums and just want to spend the day at the pool and beach and this place seems very nice.

We did the Marriott on our way home post-cruise in 2016. We thought it was well worth the money. Beautiful pool and beach and the $60 includes your lunch ($20 value) I believe. We have booked it again post-cruise in a few weeks.

Correct.  We can also confirm this.  We met our Uber driver across the street, in the parking lot, from the Pan American cruise terminal.

Could you tell me if it is advantageous to take Uber from Pan Am Pier to airport? What is the difference in cost between Uber and a cab from the pier?

  4. We were so excited to visit Grenada a few weeks ago. We decided to head to Grand Anse Beach via the water taxi. When we pulled in to port I thought the island looked absolutely beautiful. We headed to the water taxi. First of all, the water taxi is not set up to take passengers safely. Trying to get on the a boat that is moving in the water was not at all safe. Getting off the water taxi we had to jump off and walk through the water. Of course they did not tell us this until we were there. That's fine except I had my 90 year old mother and the driver was extremely rude and pushy, yelling at the passengers.

We enjoyed our day on the beautiful beach but wondered why there were so many police patrolling. We discovered as we were leaving on the water taxi that there were kids stealing out of bags. We watched 1 boy distract a couple with small children while the other went through their bags on the stroller. We were already moving in the taxi so could not warn them. We saw the boys pooling their money and handing it over to one of the water taxi drivers. We even got pictures. As well, the person that was assisting on the boat had his hands in several bags. This was very disappointing to see. I would love to go back to Grenada but would be extremely careful. Be warned to watch your stuff while in the water taxi and on the beach!!!

  5. Just flew home yesterday from SJU after our cruise on the Adventure of the Seas.

We flew in 10/12, stayed at the Comfort Inn Condado. I had booked online AFTER Maria hit and was not able to confirm reservation prior to flight. Got there, no problems with reservation. On that date, the airport did not have power and the Comfort Inn was running on a generator, which they turned off from 11am to 5pm every day. This was my backup hotel, we had originally booked at Da' House but they were not open yet and will not until power is restored to OSJ.

After our cruise, we stayed at the Casablanca Hotel in Old San Juan. This was booked in person on 10/13 when we got confirmation that our stay on Vieques would not happen. Casablanca was running on generator power. It did go off one night for a short bit but was back by the time we got back for dinner.

We booked our rental car through Charlie Car for both before and after our cruise. Before we parked in the hotel parking lot, after we parked in the Dona Fela parking garage in OSJ for $4 a day. It is open 24 hours. The Condado office of Charlie Car is closed. We had booked through them cause they offer free shuttles to and from the cruise dock. They honored this from the Isla Verde Office, both dropping us off and picking us up. They had plenty of cars available and we had NO trouble getting gas in the San Juan area. There was a station open both times right before their offices. There was a short line both times but that was due to the fact that you had to get to the pump, go in and take your cash or credit card, pump your gas and then go retrieve your credit card or change if it wasn't exact. That was a pain and the main thing we saw slowing things down.

Many places are cash only, especially restaurants. I will try to remember where all we went:

Mi Casita-no power but serving food on 10/12-cash only.

Orozcos-ate there twice after the cruise. Took CC

Walgreens in Condado on Ashford was open 24 hours and took CC

CVS in Condado on Ashford was open til 7pm and took CC

CVS in OSJ was open, not sure of hours, took CC. Rear doors closed in evening but still open.

The Place in Condado was open and took CC

Moreno's Spot in OSJ was open, cash only

Barrachina's was open during the day, not sure on rest, didn't go there.

Bun's Burgers in OSJ was open 10am-4pm, took CC

Bun's Burgers in Condado was open and took CC, not sure hours

Cold Stone in OSJ was open after 5:30pm, not sure on rest, didn't go

Chili's in Condado was open, took CC

Pizza Rustica in OSJ was open, cash only

Several places had items they were out of but plenty of options as well.

Some places had altered hours, even if they were open. Best to call them. Most had info posted on their doors.

    OSJ-

El Patio and next door to them

thanks so much for this. It is very helpful.

  6. I'm sorry your experience was so bad. We just returned from a cruise and our visit to St. Lucia was wonderful. We booked a tour with James Tours and he was right there to meet us. We were quickly ushered away from the port area so I guess I didn't experience what you are talking about. The island is beautiful and the mud baths were so fun. I bet if you give it another try with a specific booked tour you will change your mind.

When we go in December we were hoping to grab a taxi to go to the mud baths. I've done Cosol several times and really just wanted to go to the mudbaths again. But after ready this thread I am nervous. There are 4 women in my group.

  7. Hi

I'm getting a little confused on what the airline is obligated to do for you when they cancel your flight.

I heard that Air Canada and United rebooked their passengers on alternate flights with no additional charge - then why is West Jet not offering the same? They are only offering a refund.

Has anyone gotten something more from West Jet than just a refund? Thanks for sharing

    Hi...just a refund for us.

  8. Just called the hotel - they are running on city power and taking reservations.

They also are doing the day passes however recommended they be booked in advance at the link you provided.

80 USD PP includes $20 food/beverage voucher - children same cost if booked at hotel. IF booked online with link children have a reduced rate...

Thanks very much for your help. I booked it!!!!

  9. Greetings - my family and I (which consists of 2 children ages 6 and 9) will be traveling to San Juan on Jan 19th. Our Disney cruise leaves on Jan 21st. I have been closely following the hotel situation (currently have 5 booked that have not cancelled and one AirBNB). I recall reading that some of the larger hotels were offering day passes to use their resort.

    -Does anyone recall which ones?

-Has anyone actually used this day pass post Maria?

I am at a loss of what I should do with the family on the full day in San Juan due to the situation.. Appears like the beach / water is not in good shape.

    Hotels current booked

-Best Western (Manager guarantees Ill have a room - if you can believe him)

    -Hyatt City Center

    -DoubleTree

    -Hampton Inn

-Comfort Inn (expecting to get cancelled soon)

-Holiday Inn (they cancelled last week)

The AirBNB - I believe is a forsure place to rest your head but will not offer much for the kids to do - only on generator 4 hours a day..

I am looking for the same information regarding the Marriott. We would like to spend a day at the end of our cruise Dec 10th. http://www.resortforaday.com/Marriott-San-Juan-Shore-Excursion-Resort-Pass-p/sjumrs-l.htm

Does anyone know if they are offering this post Maria?

  10. We were in the JetBlue terminal and there was a Dominos, Quiznos, Carl Jr.'s and Popeyes. There were also stores selling sandwiches, water & snacks.

Any Idea when these places open? We have a flight arriving at 5am and will be looking for coffee and breakfast.

  11. Interesting article on CBC

Passengers scramble after WestJet, Air Canada cancel Puerto Rico flights. Who's to blame?

    http://www.cbc.ca/1.4397776

We were booked on Westjet, even though I was booked through ChoiceAir (Through Royal C) I was checking my flight everyday. I discovered myself that our flights were cancelled. We moved over to Air Canada at additional costs. Then my direct Air Canada flights were cancelled and once again I discovered this myself by logging on everyday to the airline websites and My Trips. No call from ChoiceAir. I called them and with all the issues and costs to fly out out of Toronto we decided to fly out of Buffalo with JetBlue out of Buffalo. I still check everyday to ensure our flights have not been cancelled.

  12. Our travel agent contacted Royal Caribbean and signed us up for the free transfer for our Nov 19 cruise on Jewel. They are offering this to keep the traffic off the streets of San Juan. We were told there will be someone in the airport with a sign for the ship to lead us to the buses. Not sure if it is necessary to register in advance though.

good to hear. We are on the Jewel Dec 3rd and would love to hear from you on how your cruise goes.

  13. I'd be happy to throw in a little insider information for you with respect to the airlines and San Juan.

I fly for JetBlue and we have a very large presence in San Juan. I've been in there since the storm and what I will say is that the island has a long road ahead of it. However, we are in the process of normalizing operations in San Juan as thankfully our terminal was quite free of major damage and is mostly back to normal other than the occasional power outages that seem to occur at random. We have direct flights to San Juan from JFK, EWR, FLL, MCO, and I think we just started doing DCA. With respect to Canada, and if you by chance live in Toronto, I know a lot of you use BUF as an alternate (from what I hear its cheaper in taxes than YYZ too). It seems that whenever I fly from BOS, JFK, and MCO to BUF, I have quite a few Canadian citizens aboard who either drive or use one of the few bus services that make the trip across the border. It should be a pretty easy connection from BUF to one of our hubs that serve SJU. Check the weather I only caution you however, We have a heavy focus of aircraft routing through the Northeast and delays can get crazy at times especially with the construction projects that is plaguing operations in JFK

If you are having airline troubles to SJU, I offer to you to take a look at us from BUF to one of our hubs that serve SJU. Flights to SJU lately have been very open. Now, I warn you to look carefully at return flights however as those have been packed lately. We do not overbook our aircraft at Jetblue and if the flight is oversold, its usually due to something out of the ordinary. Good luck.

Thank you so much for this information. Now I understand all the cancellations for AC and Westjet, since they fly in and out of a terminal that was damaged. I was booked with Westjet, then Air Canada and decided that after both airlines cancelled (I discovered this on my own just by checking my reservations) we have booked with JetBlue. We have flown out of Buffalo many times and find it quite enjoyable and very easy. Please keep us up to date if you hear anything else..

  14. And they aren't doing Sunday departures just had January 28th cancelled

    Ontario Cruiser

Well, my Westjet flight from Torornto to San Juan was cancelled a few weeks ago. I stumbled on to that myself even though I am booked with Air2sea. They moved me to Air Canada (I already paid for a direct flight home but had to pay additional for a direct flight there). So I had to pay more. Now my Air Canada flights are cancelled and they moved me to AA with stops. I specifically wanted direct flights and paid extra for them now I have stops in both directions. No one called me, once again I stumbled on to it myself. I called RC yesterday no one there on the weekends to help me...really???? Someone is to call me back this week to explain everything.

If you are booked with Air Canada you had better check your flights.

  15. Here we go again.

While I don't know why they keep publishing incorrect information, the Hampton Inn is not accepting reservations and, in fact, cancelled ours 5 weeks from now. What that web-site doesn't mention is that many that are open are open only to FEMA and the reservations they are accepting in some cases don't begin until the new year.

I contacted that web-site to let them know and they said I would need to phone them to have it corrected. :(

Yes I totally agree, very frustrating. I had a reservation at the Hampton Inn that was cancelled. I am now booked at 3 hotels for Dec 2nd just in case and will cancel 2 of them closer to the date.

Things keep changing and you have to keep calling to ensure your reservations are still available.

  16. I don't know how accurate this is, but you can give it a try: http://puertoriconow.seepuertorico.com/hotels/

I would not trust the hotel's website or national 800 number, I'd call the local property directly to confirm they are open.

Thank you. I have been watching that site for a few weeks and thought I was okay. I decided I had better call directly to the hotel today and was told no reservation. So that website is not accurate. very frustrating. Anyone booked at a hotel that has confirmed? Dates: Dec 2nd
