I wasn't accusing the OP's son of wanting to do it on purpose, just saying that it happens. Times have changed since my days in and over the years, especially following 9/11, I've seen a lot more service members who wear their uniforms during their off time and on leave. And yes, I know for a fact that there are some who purposely do it for the exact reasons that many people mentioned in this thread. But it's a generational thing. My Grandpa was in Normandy on D-Day. Among others, he also fought in another famous battle of WWII...one they've literally made movies about. If anyone had stories to tell, it was him, but in all my years with him, he never once so much as uttered the words "war," "Army," or anything military related. That's humility. My dad doesn't talk about his service either. I took after them. I don't like bringing it up, but do on occasion if it's relevant to something I'm talking about. Things are different today, though. Younger generations like attention. Just look at social media.

I still have most of my uniforms, but it'll take the world's largest shoehorn to get me into one. 😕

You got as close as you could at accusing him......just didn't have the guts to say it straight out!

The young man is 6ft 8 I am pretty sure he gets attention no matter what he wears......

  2. First, do not put a lot of weight in negative comments about the sunshine....we have sailed her several times, is the buffet crowded at peak hours yes, is the comedy club poorly designed yep....but we have never thought it to be any worse crowded than any other ships we have cruised....

Second...I think the week prior to Thanksgiving break will be fine....

I know this has been asked before, but it's easier to ask again instead of using the search function!

I have a Carnival gift card that I will apply to my sign and sail once onboard(backed up with a credit card).  If there are unused funds on the card, how do I get them back in cash?  I understand that they usually send you another card with the amount of your refund after your sailing, but I'd like to get it in cash if possible.  Seem to remember there's a trick through the casino.

    TIA!

Last night of cruise go to casino transfer funds to player bank..play as little or as much as you want on the slots, then cash out at casino....

  4. Some of you have no idea about current labor laws....not to mention the Union contract! They are in fact longshoreman and they are on the clock.....if ANYTHING is moved in or out of port a longshoreman handles it....I still tip a buck or 2 per bag...also anytime tipping comes up in a topic nearly everyone are big tippers...

Is there a way to add a gift card balance to my sign and sail card before the cruise? Hate to have to stand in the line at guest services on day one.

    Thanks

Here is what we do...I purchase 100 bucks of cruise cash from my CCL account, then when I catch gs  with no line I add gift card , then last night of cruise I transfer all of my SS to players bank in casino, play a little then cash out.....

  6. In reality any studies done on the possible benefits is meaningless as I am sure you know The Feds have marijuana  listed as a class one drug....That listing forbids any meaningful federal acknowledged testing.

But really there is no sense trying to discuss something with someone who obviously has an agenda... your long winded diatribe pretty much proves that.....

The fact is back in the day the only option was to smoke it....Now there are a hundred different ways to use it without anyone being the wiser...You can make your own gel caps for crying out loud.

I would not report it. If it bothered you, you could have confronted the smokers themselves, at least give them a warning. My son has a very rare form of excruciatingly painful seizures[ the head neurologist at Chiildrens Hospital said they are the most excruciating pain humanly possible] After spending over half a million trying to help him, we discovered mmj. lJ was the second minor in the state of Colorado to get the mmj card. That was many years ago. MMJ is STILL the only thing that helps him.

Now, of course, my son has been an adult for many years and still uses MMJ. We went back and forth about whether or not to go on this cruise and if we should try to smuggle some on. We never did because we are an Autistic family and weird about following rules. And there were always plenty of people [the kindness of strangers] who heard his almost inhuman screams of pain and rushed in to help. We will not be bringing it on this cruise either, and just hope that there are still others who can help out. If not, he has plenty of meds to knock him out until we can find a way to get home.

Even if mmj were not the reason my son is still alive, I would not try to get someone kicked off of a cruise and possibly arrested for it. but then again, I have never called the cops on a barking dog, yelled at kids to "get off my lawn" or any of that nasty "normal" stuff.

I'm going to have to call a bit of BS on this.....If a legit physician diagnosed your son with a medical issue that causes seizures ANY physician can prescribe any number of THC pills that are legal FDA approved medicines....It is totally unnecessarily to smoke weed to treat those medical conditions.........

I will be using Carnival gift cards for sail and sign account.  When I am filling out online check in, do I set it as cash or CC and go to guest services when onboard?

Set account up as cash, then couple days before cruise purchase some cruise cash on cc website, then when you catch gs with little to no line you can apply the gift cards.

Right on, snitches get stitches. 🙄 Isn't the smoke buddy the smokeless ashtray the dad invented in the movie, Gremlins? Or was that before your time?

No not close to the same thing....look up on you tube if interested....put it like this, I'm old enough that I was the designated TV antenna adjuster when I was a kid.

  10. This thread was started by the op to discuss passengers smoking weed in state rooms.... But the anti smoking crowd couldn't help but to change gears.....

You anti smokers crack me up, you will step over heroin addicts and say bless their hearts....but a cig smoker hang em!

  11. Here is a little tip for you current or future cruising weed smokers....As you can see from this thread there are a LOT of snitches that cruise.....do yourself a favor and search smoke buddy or DIY smoke buddy, that way you can do your thing where ever the confined space may be and no one would be the wiser.

    It's a boat.

Boats have holding tanks, and sometimes they smell. When you have several thousand people putting waste into tanks, it can be unavoidable at times, as they have to have vents. Any ship, out of any port, can get an odor, it's not just the Ecstasy.

(We live on a boat year round, just the two of us, and it gets a smell once in a while.)

It almost sounds like you have made this your focus, instead of going into it planning on having a good time.

There have also been many positive things said about the Ecstasy. We will be on it for Christmas again, and pre-thinking about the possibility of an occasional odor is the last thing we are doing.

Just like running across someone's left behind fart in a store aisle, walk 20 feet, it'll go away.

Well played my friend..... well played! made me spit my tea on the monitor.....🤣
