  1. OP here

So we are now into our first day . Let me give you my latest

    thoughts and experiences so far

    1) first day (embark) was mostly awful given we had to leave the hotel and get to the port and wait about 3 hours to board. We got onboard by about 4pm. We hunted down our own luggage so that wasn’t an issue. Keys had an issue and had to do to Guest Services 4 Times and still having issues . Dinner was open seating. Went at 8:15 and it was a zoo. Some stuck it out and we’re done by 11pm. Decided to eat on Lido (Meatball sandwich was cold). Cabin Steward is great. Band near Alchemy very good. Alcohol was flowing last night so people’s attitudes were in check.

    2) so day 1 was not great but next 2 days are at sea. So hopefully better days ahead

    3) We did book this week with a specific port in mind (St Thomas) so still bummed. More to follow on this issue upon our return. The rest of the itinerary got moved around as well which messes things up for people with Private excursions .

    4) ship is moving at a very slow pace which tells me there are issues with the propulsion of the ship. I have no idea if the stop in Cozumel by the last cruise was really medical or mechanical related. People posting sympathy notes but they have no idea if that is really why the ship stopped in Cozumel

    5) we are making the best of it and will enjoy the rest of our cruise (despite disappointment about St Thomas)

I was on the ship - it was a medical emergency--I saw the ambulance/doctor arrive and then return with patient leave several hours later. The mechanical issue with ship speed happened in in the middle of the night, and we were not told until 8am. All the staff were excellent. Many went without breaks to clean up and gear up for new passengers. The stress on the employees was huge!!! I hope you have a great cruise.....be extra nice to the staff! They deserve a few smiles!

  2. Does FTTF trump the staggered check in time? Or do you still have to follow your assigned time? Do they really turn you away from checking in without FTTF if you arrive before the time slot? And how about if you if you have priority check in----can you go when you want?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I have booked a Lido balcony room but can upgrade to Suite on the Empress deck (7th). It's only a 4 day get-away to celebrate our anniversary. I love being on the Lido... Is having a suite worth it? Help!!!

  4. I had read on Cruise Critic that a very recent sailing on Liberty had MANY people sick. I am going on this boat next Saturday and I sure hope it got a serious scrub down!

I'm sailing with you on the Liberty....and I will be bringing stuff to clean my room and have a serious conversation with my 13 year old about hand washing and antibac!

  5. Last year we booked a 10th floor Balcony forward room on the Liberty for our June family cruise. Right now if I change to OV I could save $630 on final payment (and that is after the $150 penalty for changing rooms). Why change? I'm a little nervous being up so high on the ship that I will feel too much movement and the price reduction on OV is pretty significant. We had a cove balcony last year on the Breeze. We loved it but didn't spend an enormous amount of time there...mostly breakfast, leaving port etc. Am I crazy for thinking of changing? Need to make final payment in two days.. Help! Is the price savings enough to go down to Main floor? Anyone love a balcony on the 10th floor?

  6. Yes the shuttle drivers are safe. No issues on safety at all!

Just make sure you watch your luggage go inside the trailer or the back of van. It does get hectic with people coming and going and your luggage can get mixed up / lost in the shuffle.

What time did you get to the parking lot? Do you know if the shuttles run early? Looking at the map it looks very close to the port.

    Thanks!!!

  7. We are going to be in Nassau in 3 weeks. We have an 11 year old and would like a beach day that includes snorkeling, and maybe a banana boat ride or other motorized water activity. Wyndham or Sheraton? or maybe Atlantis? Atlantis is pricey though! Thoughts? or other suggestion? Do you I have to make reservations prior to arriving?
