just got off Vista on Saturday. We were in 3229 obstructed ocean view. Great location, short hallway and no noise at all
How obstructed was the view?

There are allot of craps games for your phone. When you get to the table just stick with a pass line bet and you can watch how other players make their bets.

At this point a magic 8 ball will give you the best answer.

Looks like they are posted outside the dining rooms. Maybe take a picture or just stand there and decide. Then try to remember 1/2 hour later.
It goes through the Carnival Hub app. So even though you didn’t pay for a wifi package you can still view the menus.

The Comfort Suites has a deal where you pay $20 for their shuttle and you can leave your car there during your cruise. Nice hotel as well.

I did have to pay the taxes on my drinks while in Texas waters. This has me puzzled.
I can answer this part. In Texas there is the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commision (TABC). If you go to any bar in Texas you will notice a small sticker on there that's similar to the tax stamp on cigarettes. This shows that the bottle was bought through the TABC and the taxes have been paid for it. After the bottle is finished the sticker has to be scrapped off completely before being thrown away.
I haven't cruised yet, but have heard that there is a limited supply of alcohol on hand until you're in international waters. Each bottle has a TABC sticker on it. The taxes that you're paying is I believe a Sin Tax. Texas doesn't have an income tax so we make up for it where we can.

Check out the Comfort Suites in Galveston. They have a $15 parking and shuttle deal if you stay with them. Book any and all your hotels through their websites. If anything goes wrong and you need a refund it will make it easier. The hotels also appreciate it more. I used to work at a different Comfort Suites and third party sites were a pain to deal with for refunds.
