  1. I just got off the Carnival Elation at Jacksonville on Thursday. The Cheers program has a high cost per day. So, in order to make it worthwhile, you have to drink more. Like the original post, you have to drink at least 5 drinks to see any savings. Most of the passengers were responsible drinkers, but some of them weren't. There were many young people (early 20s) that were taking advantage of the program. The problem is that they were drinking way too much. I saw a group of young women every night get progressively drunker and drunker. They lost control. They could have been hurt, taken advantage of or assaulted. I watched the bartenders continually give them more and more drinks when they were obviously extremely drunk. The bartenders should have cut them off but they didn't. Fifteen drinks a day may not sound like much for an entire day, but when you are 100-120 pounds, that is a huge amount of alcohol! It became very awkward to have my son see their behavior. We had to leave some venues and shows because of it. The problem is: there is no place on the ship where the alcohol wasn't free flowing so my son was exposed to drunks the whole trip - not very family friendly. If they are going to do free flowing alcohol, it would be better on an adults only cruise.
