Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. Oh that's weird, I was sure it was different last summer because we could only get the beef wellington at Chef's Table. Wine pairings certainly won't fuss us - 3 out of the 4 don't drink. Thank you very much for the menus - definitely the MDR ones look to have some nice options. I think we're all very much "it was fine" but it all depends on the newbie making the decision now :D.
  2. Hi folks, wee favour to ask. Restaurant booking opens for our next cruise on Iona tomorrow and we still haven't decided on formal night venue. We are cruising with two others including a newbie on their first time. The other three of us did Chefs Table last time and it was fine, but I'm conscious that it looks a very similar menu again and the MDRs do things a bit fancier on formal night. Does anyone have a picture of an Iona formal night menu so I can help newbie friend make an informed decision? Arvia presumably fairly similar too. The only menus I can find online are normal days or special occasions.
  3. Loving the suggestion of board games and RPGs! I genuinely think the moment my fiance started actually considering a cruise was when he heard about the escape rooms on Sky Princess and Arvia, and if he'd heard of a tabletop room, he'd have been there like a shot.
  4. Would also be interested to hear more about the shuttle in Haugesund. I'm not in a wheel chair but I struggle with longer walks and particularly on inclines, so that would be great if there was a way to get out and about. Nice to read this review - definitely whetting the appetite for next month!
  5. Yes, I was thinking it would be 2-3ish (the last cruise I went on I went from Glasgow - I don't remember if they weren't running from Edinburgh or something like that). Alas, all of the family seem to be away that weekend, so we may need to get a late bus in to the airport, then the city centre rather than getting a lift.
  6. The email I used was: cruiseconnect@intercruises.com 🙂
  7. I got the fear after reading this thread but emailed them earlier in the week to ask about my select fare coach trip. Everything sorted within a few days, and even that long was partly because I couldn't email back at work. Now just to wait and find out what unearthly hour I need to get to Edinburgh bus station at! 😄
  8. Hi folks, Quick question re. evening casual for guys, specifically on Iona. Dark denim and a neat polo shirt ok? Boyfriend hates button-down shirts if he can possibly avoid them. Worry not, smart suit and posh dresses (for me, not him, though I'm sure he'd look fab in one) will be in evidence on the formal night.
