I don't know the answer, but my question would be the opposite.  If I book a future cruise using the incentives, could I change my mind and later request a refund?   What might the cancelation policy be on that re-booked cruise?    Has anyone had experience with changes like these?

If you cancel within guildlines, the payment in which you used goes back to you.  So since that rebooked cruise was not done with a credit card, you would not be eligible to get a credit card refund.

So we are booked on a mid august Med cruise ($4k approx, paid $200 deposit) - Final payment is due on Tuesday. We've booked flights from London to Barcelona but could re-use that for a land trip. Thoughts on paying or cancelling? My largest concern is NCL isn't operating anymore come August given their cash flow.

IMHO, if you have concerns, I would cancel.

I was on the last Epic cruise and felt they handled it about the best the could. Only the internet was a disaster and I have no idea if their explanation of having to take a route far north of what was normal messing it up was true or not but 🤷🏻‍♀️

I find that the ships and their Captions do what is best for the crew and passengers.  The corporate side seems to be the one failing.

Same here.  We will use our FCC but then intend to shop around.  NCL customer service has been horrid for months after their computer conversion went awry and this situation has finally put us over the edge.  One more cruise with them and then we are done.  By the way, we are Platinum Plus.

I think that speak volumes, you being Platinum Plus.  I tend to look at the positive side.  Try to be as balanced as possible.  But i have reached that tipping point

  5. During this whole epidemic, I have been looking into how various cruise lines have been responding and treating their customers.  I feel that NCL has done a very poor job.  Between the leaked emails encouraging rep to lie to customers. NCL saying that they will resume operations in April.  The way they are holding peoples money.  The way that they will not let you use the FCC towards things that your money originally went to.

My question is this....  For those who plan to resume normal operations, will you seek other cruise lines.   I was very happy with just staying with NCL and exploring the many ships that they have.  No, I am feeling differently.  I will probably rebook to use my Cruise Next Certificates, but then go back to other lines.

I find it almost comical  that people really think they will be cruising anytime soon.

I can almost guarantee nothing will be sailing again until summer, people are in denial on my FB cruise page set for April.

Royal and the rest should of followed Princess with a 90 freeze .

I agree.  I am just waiting for the announcement of my April cruise to be cancelled. Some of my roll call people are still holding out hope.  I am thinking that the major lines are going to wait for last minute to try to control some of the incoming call volume and requests.

I can't be the only one thinking of booking a cruise for April 13, for example, and expecting Carnival to cancel it just to get the FCC and whatever other benefits they offer to go with it. Right?

Will that work? I feel it's most likely they will cancel cruises until at least June.

What if for some reason they actually sail, will you be going on the cruise?

  8. I am booked at the last week of April, and I am 100% convinced that it is being cancelled.  The only reason I haven't cancelled it on my own yet is that I am waiting to see if I get offered a cash refund for increased FCC

Agreed with above... not many options available to you.  However...

This "suggestion" is based on the possibility (likelihood) that NCL will soon have to cancel all Alaska cruises departing before July because Canada has closed all ports until then.  (All NCL Alaska cruises must stop in Canada)

Sooo... on the premise above, perhaps you could use your NCL credit to rebook a cruise departing before July.  When NCL cancels you can get your money.    Caveat... I have no idea if this would work... there may be NCL rules that prevent this from happening... just thinking out of the box.

I see what this is trying, but it would not work.  Because the rebook would be using a FCC, even if NCL cancels and offers a refund, that would just reinstate the FCC back to her account.  The OP would not get cash.

Looking to take advantage of some of the deals NCL is offering.  I am looking at a cruise summer 2021.  kids free, all the free at sea promotions, $120 obc, and 30% off.  cruise out of miami on the sky family of 4 in a family oceanview for $3182 including all the taxes and gratuities for open bar and dining plan.  the website states today is the last day.  i was debating booking today or seeing if there will be a better deal next week.  i know at the beginning of the week the 30% off sale stated ending today then the next day it stated ending in 3 days.  do you think the deals will get better or just go up?

It would be a complete guessing game.  My rule of thumb is if you are happy with the price and perks, then pull the trigger.  If the price dramatically changes between now and final payment, you can rebook with the current rates and promos at that time.

Its not. That’s why I don’t understand these half measures. Either quarantine everyone for a few weeks, or don’t. All these government officials are doing is making everyone panic. It’s not productive.

it is because it goal isn't to quarantine.  The goal is to take reasonable measures do some prevention and to slow down how quickly it spreads.  This helps allow hospitals to treat those who are ill.  Without some measures, medical facilities would be flooded and unable to treat everyone, leading to further sicknesses and death.  Quarantining everyone for two weeks won't eliminate this disease.  It will still pop up.

    I cancelled today-

If a land based cruise offer I.E. Caesars, etc they are extending that offer even if expired for a year as long as it is booked within seven days from cancelling your cruise for FCC

They also extended that same offer on my NCL CAS offer as well. She did state that new change took effect today as new changes are fluid at the HQ. Again, that was my rep, but she seemed very knowledgeable and booked my new cruises for later in year and early 2021

This info is what I experienced an hour ago...I am not sure what changes are going to happen in the next few days with all the new news....

    Cheers,

    Mike

That sounds very nice and I hope it stays that way.  I may have to call and do that.

My daughter and I are very interested in the thermal spa passes. We will be on the Bliss in January and was told we could pay to upgrade our room.

We have a balcony cabin, 12250 to be exact. Is it worth trying to upgrade to a spa suite? Is it really pricey to do that? Or is it just better to purchase the passes? Thoughts?

It is tough to say.  Are you booked through Casino at Sea?   If so, Upgrade prices will vary.  The only way to tell what the cost is, would be to call CAS and have them price it out of you.  I did that for my Encore cruise and it was too pricey.  I would just rather keep my Balcony and buy the passes, but you wont know until you call.

I was surprised about the last minute cruises going up (I'm sailing Encore on the 29th)  - They should have just specified in the terms that you can't cancel and rebook the SAME cruise. Not really sure how they will get any new bookings for the 29th sailing of the encore with the pricing that it's at now, and there is no way it's at capacity.

I think that is the game they are playing.  They are expecting a lot of people to cancel and maybe even shift their cruises slightly or rebook the same cruise..  So by jacking up rates for ships sailing soon, they are avoiding that.

Do you have a link to a news article or was it just on tv...I searched and didn’t find anything. Also, what ports denied the encore since they just left Miami on Sunday and their first stop isn’t until San Juan later today...

It wasnt the Encore.  It was the MSC Meraviglia.  They were denied docking due to fear that passengers on board had the Corona virus  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8059197/Cruise-ship-crew-pepper-spray-brawling-passengers-feared-mutiny.html

We have never sailed the Dawn . Hoping the very knowledgeable people on CC can help us with our choice ...

I like the position of deck 10 (in between cabin decks) probably mid ships. Any cabins to avoid  ?

    We don't like connecting cabins.

We have a dining package - is there any "speciality " restaurant that stands out from the others.

Is the main dining rooms open from 6.00 to catch an early (7.30??) show.

    Thanks for any advice/comments.

You will get varied responses about the restaurants that stand out from the others. Peoples tastes are different.  My favorite meal of any cruise I have been on was in La Cucina.  The osso bucco was amazing.  The tableside Guac at Los Lobos was also great.  I don't see any issues with midship deck 10.

The OP stated that having four in the cabin was the only way to afford the cruise. Enough said.
It’s good that some here are being encouraging and offering helpful suggestions regarding making the bedding situation more comfortable.
OP, I think it will likely work out.

Try to think about all the fun you’ll have on the cruise!🌞

I don't necessarily think that it is enough said.  There may be options for the OP that they have not considered.   For me personally, I would try to call. They may be able to get a second cabin for a similar price, especially since a lot of prices are falling.   The only time I did 4 to a room of that size, it was super, super cramped and chaotic. And that would get rid of any concerns about sofa beds
