No, no and no.
Passing security at MIA will slow you down considerably even if you arrive on time back at POM and do self assist.
There is a reason they advise a noon- or later flight.
-
When the low deposit promos come out - especially the $49 and $99 deposits, folks jump on it and book multiple cruises.
These are all ES/non-refundable deposits.
And.. after thinking it over, checking the vacation budget and work/school schedules, lots of people end up cancelling.
BIG win for Carnival who gets to keep all these deposits and re-sell these same cabins to other people.

When you arrive at POM there will be shared shuttle companies offering a ride to the airport.
We find it easier and faster to just take a cab. Fare is $24 plus tip.
-
Like the previous poster said - sometimes offers that come with extra OBC are more expensive than the regular rate.
Find yourself a good travel agent that will give you OBC even when booking at the regular rate.
-
If you ask at the port, they will tell you to check with Guest Services.
When you check with Guest Services, they will tell you to come back after the ship has sailed.
By that time, you've already settled in your current cabin, had two drinks and can't be bothered anymore.

Wondering if anyone has stayed recently at the Clarion hotel on NW 36th near Miami airport. Your comments and what is around the area as well as transportation to POM is greatly appreciated. February bloggers cruise. Many thanks
Christine
You will find many people to bash this area for being unsafe. However, I stay on NW 36th very often (but prefer the EB hotel or the renovated Best Western).
Without a car there is not much to do in the area. One Chinese restaurant, Pizza Hut, Denny's and a gas station.
Contact the hotel, they might have a vendor that shuttles to POM.

My friend has a postcard claiming $1 deposits....... I think its a fake, but they swear the PVP says its real
Received a postcard. It says $1 upgrades.

No stickers on clothes with Carnival.

I have stayed at both and like both. But if the rate is the same I would pick Pier 66. It's much more of a hotel compared to Hyatt Place.

Amor Cubano is excellent. It included old Cuban songs (my Dad was singing right along) as well as modern tunes.
There were some popular songs from Marc Anthony (clearly not Cuban) included but I believe that was mostly for the audience to recognize and clap along. The vocals were great, we truly enjoyed this show on the Vista.

I just love love love your writing style.
Don't even care which ship you're on, I'm reading just so I can laugh out loud. You're good!

Only in town in for one night pre cruise , where to eat dinner near the crowne plaza ? Thanks for any help
I would have dinner at their inhouse restaurant Kiki's. Very affordable and great food.
The hotel has a small convenience store where you can buy last minute items and wine.

The deadbolt is there for a reason.
Seems like you want more than an apology if you keep calling Corporate over this.
On my last cruise on the Vista our steward was just horrible. Kept forgetting things, didn't service the cabin, etc. I just talked to him and told him that I won't tell on him, but others would. So, in order to keep his job, please start treating the guests after us better.
He apologized and we parted ways.

It's a $10 minimum.
We had a side-2-side cruise, where we needed to go from a Carnival ship to a Royal Caribbean ship at Port Everglades and were told that it's a $10 minimum (3 minute trip).
No, I am NOT walking with suitcases when I'm on vacation. If I can't afford those 10 bucks, I should've stayed home.

What lines wou that be?
Just try to book 2 guests in a triple on a RC Oasis Class.
-
I don't understand your refund statement. Example: You are only paying for 2 in a 3 person cabin. What are they supposed to refund? You're not getting charged for 3 right off the bat. Same If you book a 4 person cabin and only have 3. They aren't going to move you to a 2 person cabin. So I'm confused by this statement.
If you want that specific cabin and you choose it knowing full well that you don't meet the occupancy threshold, then that's a risk you have to be willing to take. If not, then choose another cabin that holds the amount of people that are actually going or pay for the extra berth(s).
This policy has been around for as long as I can remember and it's not exclusive to Carnival either. The rates are based on double occupancy and that's why oftentimes the 3rd and 4th passengers are less. Not all the time, but in most cases.
Totally correct.
Some cruise lines don't even allow you to book cabins if you have less guests than the cabin max.
-
I really don't see the reason of your complaint. You know that you are only guaranteed if you book a cabin that hosts your exact number of guests.
It's the company's rule and honestly, if they can sell even 1 berth more they will.
If you don't want the risk of being moved, pick a cabin that hosts your number of passengers and that is not modified.

It's perfectly safe to walk to dinner, shops and the supermarket.
I just found the rooms to be older and in need of an update. But that's just me. I'm spoiled :-)

We just got off a Mediterranean cruise and booked a private tour with RomeinLimo.
Our driver was Mario and we had the best day! He took us to Amalfi, Ravello and Positano in his very comfortable van (with wifi :-) )
Mario is very knowledgeable and just a fun guy to be around. He mixed historical facts with current affairs and anything we asked him, he had a great answer to.
He bought typical bakery goods for us in Positano and showed us all the highlights.
Because of his enthusiasm, we are seriously considering a land vacation in that area next summer.

Well, in that case...They could rent a car which would give them storage for their luggage, then breakfast and perhaps the beach. In the afternoon drop the luggage off at the port, return the car to MIA and ride the shuttle back to the port.
.
This is exactly what I would do.

The area is nice, but I didn't like this particular property. While I enjoy staying at Homewood Suite hotels, this one has older rooms requiring updates.
Don't know how long you're staying, but have you checked the new Homewood Suites in Brickell or the new one at the Dolphin Mall?

Jennifer, I would plan to arrive around 9:30 AM and you can check your bags in then. Then you can wait inside the terminal until you are allowed to board.
This is no longer possible at POM with the introduction of the Staggered Check In. If you show up before your registered time slot, you will not be allowed to even enter the building.
Result - hours and hours in line outside in the sun.

I am flying out Oct 8 and suppose to land Oct 9 at 9:15 am. American Airlines has not yet cancelled flight and told me to call Oct 7. Does anyone think I have a chance to make the cruise? If flight is cancelled...I guess we will miss Greece and fly to Rhodes. So sad!
Rhodes won't work. All Greek airports will be on strike.

This doesn't look too good for people traveling to Athens for the last Med cruise.
