  1. Interesting. I see a lot of people trying to take it easy on Carnival for various reasons for why they are not taking care of their priority customer base of customers that choose Carnival from all the others. I've read not enough crew, too expensive, gotta go request it, etc. We've been on two platinum cruises since COVID. Nothing. No little gift. No turndown service. One room cleaning per day. We didn't even meet our room steward until the third day of each cruise. I'm trying to figure out why I have to take time from my expensive vacation to run down crew members for these basic things. I don't see cruise fares coming down but getting more expensive. Drinks certainly aren't coming down. Sorry, but I don't see why I am responsible for these perks. We've only sailed Carnival since October 2004. No, some of these things are not enough to ruin a vacation but they made that same vacation a bit more memorable.

  2. I wish Carnival would bring back the reggae groups on the Lido deck prior to leaving port. They use to have them all the time, but very rarely now. They would set the proper mood for a Caribbean cruise.

Also, we've got 24 cruises since October 2004 with three more on the books, besides having two canceled during covid, all on Carnival. Personally, I'm not real crazy about the FTTF program allowing guests to pay a fee to get a lot of the benefits we cruised for.

  3. I would recommend renting a car. After El Yungue, drive on out to Fajardo. Nice drive up beaches there. Also some roadside food stands that are pretty good. Also, Google the pork highway. Plenty of info there. There are a bunch of lechonaras along this winding road into the mountains. If you like pork, this the the place to go. The islands not that big so you can see a good chunk of it in a couple days.

  4. If you are interested in something not crowded and quiet, try Corona Beach or Playa Corona. No cover, pay as you go, cold beer and margaritas, great ceviche, good tacos. Not much of a beach but more of a snorkeling area with half way decent snorkeling. Easy entry and exit to the water. About a $10 cab ride from the Carnival pier. You can see the Carnival pier off in the distance from Corona. My wife and I stopped doing tours several years ago and go here every opportunity. Palapas' , shower to rinse off and massage if you desire.

  5. There used to be a small corner restaurant across the street from where Carnival docks. It is at the stop for the free trolley. I don't remember the name but just cross the street and walk toward the Sheraton. If you get to the Sheraton, you missed it. If still there it had very good mofongo and other dishes. It's little sit down restaurant with quick service which is what I think you are looking for.

  6. Coki is nice but not great snorkeling. From what I have read, it is better than the others. We've been to Coki several times. My wife relaxes on the beach while I snorkel. The main area to snorkel is to the right as you stand on the beach. Coral World is right there and that is where they do their helmet dives. You will see many different fish and conch, maybe a stingray as it is a beach with a sandy bottom. With that being said, the water and view can be spectacular and is the real reason we go. There are people there to rent beach chairs from, and to order drinks and food. You can catch a shuttle bus from the port. I forget what the rate is. We plan to go there again on our cruise in October.

  7. Coki isn't the most glamorous beach but it can be nice. The snorkeling is not great but you can see different things such as snapper, conch and such. The water is usually great and it is right next to a little SeaWorld type park. Chairs are available to rent and vendors walk the beach. It is pretty easy to get to by taxi or shuttle. We've been there when it was a little vacant and a little crowded. Still nice. The big thing is the view and clear blue water.

  8. For some reason CC won't let me post the webpage.... but if you go to vinow dot com and search St Thomas Beaches the water quality at Coki (and Bluebeard's Beach) is still not considered safe. :(

Like this? http://www.**********/stt/stt-b/coki-point/ (you're right. It keeps replacing the vinow dot com).

I haven't been able to find the info you're referencing about water quality. I did find this. https://stthomassource.com/content/2018/03/01/water-standards-not-water-quality-changing/

  9. In Belize, the Wonders of the Barrier Reef, the tour leaves direct from and back to the ship. They take you out to a nice little island with picnic tables, shade and refreshments for sale. They divide the snorkelers into two groups, experienced and beginners. The guides have been very attentive and show snorkelers a lot of things. When snorkeling is done, you can relax on the island or swim/snorkel near the island. When done, they take you back to the ship. It is a nice tour. In Roatan, I understand you can snorkel the far end of the beach there at the port. We are going to try that in October, The only other snorkeling I've done in Roatan was on the Maya Beach something tour. I don't remember the exact name but Carnival has two tours there, one with snorkel equipment and one just for the beach. They both have lunch. If you have your own snorkel equipment, save the extra money and just do the beach tour. The snorkeling is pretty much on your own. There is a pier that you can walk out and get into the snorkel area. It is pretty good there. They have kind of a snorkel path you can follow.

  10. Shopping in Cozumel can be as safe as at home. You can save a good bit of money compared to prices in the US. Educate yourself before you go on what you want. You can find good deals on diamonds, gold, silver...... and tequila.
